[ The early summer sky was a a deep pink-purple color. Steadily streatching across the once light blue sky. The sun was just setting on the horizon, illiminating everything and giving it a certain glow that touched the heart of a young Juve who just heppened to be wandering along the outskirts of the jungle, just under the trees that were thinning out.

Majani was getting tierd of the same old scene he lived with everyday. He wanted to get out in the world and explore all that it had to offer. He had few friends and the ones he had met as a cub has just... Disapeared. He missed the two older lions he had met, Umo and Aleu, but he was just fine seeing Halili everyday. But new people were always fun and he loved to show them what the jungle had to offer. It was beautiful and full of life with a certain spark to it. Oh how he loved it so. ]

Time had finally brought Lefika prowling out of the grasslands and towards the lush jungles. She was glad of it, too, she needed a change of scenery. When she'd first arrived in the savannah she'd loved it; she'd loved the wide open spaces and rolling grasses flickering in the wind. She grew bored of it now, though, and desperately needed a change of scenery. Lefika was forever growing bored with her surroundings.

That sunset, however... that was absolutely lovely. Lefika took a moment to pause and be rendered breathless by it. She had never been too proud to allow herself to be absorbed by beautiful things. She thought it was very important to appreciate beauty, as it was often so fleeting. So, no matter how badly her body wanted to move on, she urged it to stay put just a moment so she could watch the colors change in the sky.

She was perfectly aware that she had company the second she'd arrived there, but had chosen not to acknowledge it... not at first, anyway. Her priority at the moment was to appreciate the lovely sunset, and she would deal with the other lion later. Eventually she chose to at least take a look at the other. She glanced back and saw the young boy watching the sky as well, and she could see the wanderlust in his eyes too. Why, he was just a child. Lefika smiled; she liked kids, even if she didn't always quite know how to deal with them. Then again, she didn't quite know how to deal with anybody. "It's marvelous, isn't it?" she inquired, breaking the stillness that had to that point only been occupied by the songs of birds.

[ Majani jumped. He wasn't even aware that there had been another so close. He was set in a trance by the sun and everything that it's shining light was touching. There was a golden glow around every little thing he could see. He slowly turned his head towards the lioness. Staring at her before speaking. "H..Hello there." He spat out. He didn't want to be rude and stare at her and seen rude.

He turned his head back to the sunset and watched it continue to sink behind the grass. "Yes..." He sighed dreamily. He just wanted to bask in the warmth forever. But he knew that the sun had to leave them to come back. ]

Lefika grinned. It was supposed to be a reassuring type of grin, but Lefika wasn't used to having to reassure others and she wasn't sure it came out right. It would have to do, at any rate. "I'm sorry, did I scare you?" she asked, though she didn't sound entirely sorry. This wasn't to say that she wasn't sorry at all... but she couldn't be bothered to feel badly if she had either.

She turned back to the sunset then and sighed a little to herself. "You know," she said quietly, almost absently as though the words weren't quite coming from herself, "I have lived quite some time, I have seen many lands and many things, and to this day I have not seen one sunset in my life that was like any other. Each sunset is unique." She rolled her shoulders a bit, closed her eyes, and allowed her face to be warmed a bit by the dying sun. "It's quite the wonder, isn't it? Quite the wonder indeed." Lefika never did cease to be amazed by the world, though she didn't always show it.

[ Her smalie frightened Majani a bit. It was sharp and scary looking but he hoped she didn't mean any harm to him. He nodded. "Only a little bit." He said quietly. He hoped she didn't feel bad about it. It wasn't her fault he wasn't paying attention. He was daydreaming and out there when he watched sunsets.
The light was almost gone now and the grass was getting dark. As she spoke, Majani looked at her, listening intently. "I only watch sunsets when I'm going home or..." He sighed "Distracted." He was very distracted today. He just couldn't focus on what he was going to do. Even if he was bad at hunting, the rumble in his tummy was growing louder and hurting. ]

Lefika nodded once when told that she had only scared him a little bit, if only just to acknowledge the comment more than respond to it. She spoke no more of any concern of scaring him, for there was none. Peacefully she watched the sun melt into the horizon and listened to Majani speak. "I noticed," she responded. She meant, of course, that she'd noticed he was distracted, not that she'd noticed when he watched sunsets... but Lefika was never one to care much whether her intended meaning got across or not.

Her ears perked up at the sound of growling and she turned immediately to face the source. She recognized the sounds of hunger and smirked a little at the young one. "Something tells me you haven't eaten today," she declared the obvious. "What say we go grab a bite to eat?" She tilted her head a bit towards the jungle.

[ The sun was gone and the moon was begining to shine through. The light that held his attention seemed to have snapped and let him go. He sighed. Maybe someday he'd have to watch the sun rise and see it go from dark to light. Majani listened to Lefika's comment and figured that it couldn't have been to difficult to notice he was distracted.

His tummy growled even more, and the hunger pains grew. "I.. I haven't eaten for more than a day. I haven't found anything to eat." He looked down at his paws like he was embaressed. What kind of Lion couldn't hunt? He peeked up at her and nodded. "I'd like that." ]

Lefika sighed contentedly a bit as the moon faded into view, greeted it with a smile, then turned away from the sky. The night sky was beautiful too, inky and jeweled with stars, but much more important things demanded her attention right now. She stood and set into motion almost all at once, flowing like water. She drifted right past Majani without so much as a glance back. If he wished to follow, he would follow, and she could not be bothered to drag him along if he chose otherwise.

As she made her way through the trees and underbrush, Lefika chuckled a bit to herself. This would be the second time in the last two or three days that she wound up taking a juvenile out to hunt. Funny how things worked out. As she walked, still without glancing back, she spoke up conversationally, "So, what's your story hon? Hm?" She wanted to know a bit about who she was dealing with, here... if he had really followed her into the dark of the jungle, anyway.

[ The soft yet intense blue of the night Relaxed him. He sighed and stood to follower her but ended up stumbling over himself. He imediantly wanted to sit down again to sooth his tummy, but knew that the only way for it to really stop was to eat something. He fought against his will to stay and followed her, flinching everytime he had to walk faster to catch up. He knew that if he needed to stop that he'd find a way back to her or find a small animal to eat.

He looked up at her and admired of graceful she was and wondered 'Are all females like this?' before answereing her question. "I'm pretty much alone in the world." She sounded a little upset. He had never known his father or his mother. "I just found the jungle and lived here where I felt safe. And because the place I wanted to be king over one day was already ruled over... And I've seen few lions here." ]

Lefika heard the young one scrambling behind her, straining to catch up. The lioness slowed, but not to allow Majani to catch up; Lefika slowed so that Majani might slow too and she would have an easier time hearing the movements of other creatures in the jungle. Her ears were perked up and she was alert to every noise. Her pale, silvery eyes stabbed through the darkness as she walked. One ear paid special attention to the sounds of the jungle while the other devoted itself to listening to Majani speak.

"You know, no place is ever really safe, child," Lefika said nonchalantly. It sounded less like a warning and more like a casual comment, like it was a truth that meant nothing to her. "You may think this jungle is safe to you but I'd keep your wits about you still." Then she halted a bit and raised a paw to Majani. "Now hush," she whispered. "Be still... I think I hear something." She stooped low and stared deep into the underbrush, checking for the movement she thought she'd heard.

[ Majani began to pant quitetly. She moved so fast! He was pleased when she had slowed down. Maybe she realized that he was to hungry to move so fast and keep up. He caught his breath and a loud growl came from his tummy. It made him shiver a little bit. His belly wanted food. Now. And didn't want to wait any longer.

Majani eyed a bug and clamped his teeth on it. Maybe that would make his belly be quiet for Lefika. She looked up at her and nodded. "I know... I just feel more at home and the trees provide shelter for me." He looked down. He really hadn't though about it before. He nodded again and sat quietly, just like he was asked to do. He didn't want to make her angry with him. ]

Lefika heard Majani responding to her and munching on his bug, but she didn't really hear him. He had stooped down and was now attempting to crawl through the brush as quietly and inconspicuously as possible. The only thing she truly percieved was the slight rustling movement just ahead of her. She wished she knew what it was she was actually following; she'd hate to stalk something all this way and then find out it was only a mouse. This was why Lefika so greatly perferred hunting in the grasslands, so that she might see her prey before she hunted it.

She was growing close now, she could smell the animal near. It had froze, the rustling had stopped; it knew she was there. It was now or never then. Lefika wound up and pounced. Out from between her paws shot a very frightened mongoose. In a flash it cut across the jungle path from whence she came and then disappeared into the brush and darkness across. Lefika sighed and stalked, somewhat moodily, back to the trail. "Let it be," she grunted to Majani as she moved on, "It's barely a mouthful, not enough meat to bother with." She rather hated hunting in the jungle. Oh well, moving on to the next prey.

[ He watched her silently, trying to learn from her movements and learn how to move through the brush with such little noise. The grass of the jungle floor was tickling his nose. He held his breath as not to agitate the grass more and convince it to make him sneeze as a glorious game. His eyes were lit up and as soon as he saw the mongoose flash away, he sighed and the grass abruptly made him sneeze.

The game the world was playing on them seemed unfair, so mean. Like they were insignificant. Majani peered up at her with curious eyes, waiting to hear about the food that he knew was not there. His ears drooped slightly upon hearing that it got away, then perked when she told him it would hardly be enough for a bite. "Then..." He began slowly and quietly, "Where do we go from here?" He was hungry and wanted to follow her to learn more about getting the food he needed so badly. ]

"Bless you," Lefika muttered as she rejoined Majani and started walking again. Her usual cool, laid-back demeanor was unusually fragmented, but she wasn't licked yet. She stalked on through the jungle with a grim determination. She wasn't about to let this blasted jungle get the better of her and this kid. "We're going the only place we can go, hon," she replied. "Deeper in. Let's go..."

She traveled in silence for quite a while, her footfalls barely even making noise with her careful steps. She held her tail up off the ground so it wouldn't rustle the low jungle grasses. She listened intensely, but she could not detect a thing. She sighed and hung her head, then came to a stop in a grassy clearing. "Let's take a sit, shall we?" Lefika said, then chuckled quietly at the humor that would fly over the young cub's head. She sat on a rock and waited for him to settle himself, then commented, "It occurs to me that you never even told me your name." It was more of a statement than a question demanding an answer; quite frankly, Lefika couldn't care less what the kid's name was, and though she was glad for the company she'd never admit it.

[ He nodded as a thankyou and looked around, wondering what she was thinking. His eyes were growing hevey but he would not dare shut them until he had put something, other than bugs, into his belly. His ears flicked as she told him they were going deeper into the jungle. It felt so different at night. Like the trees had changed. If Majani didn't stay close, hi might become lost forever.

He followed her step, mimicing everything she did. He held his tail up and trying not to make a sound. He did step on some dry leaves and branches occasionally, making noise around them in the still and quiet jungle. He was relived when She had told him that they would rest for a while. "Yes lets!" She grinned happily and sat down on the dirt and leaves. He felt terrible when he told her that She haden't been told his name. "My name's Majani and I'm gonna be a king someday!" He proclaimed. He wanted to be a king more than anything! "What's your name?" He asked, not remembering if he had asked yet of not. ]
