For once, I'm not a resident Jew! My school has only a handful of Jewish people. Most of my Jewish friends have denounced their religion, and others are self-deprecating but proud. I sort of like to flaunt my Judaism to the rest of the school. In 6th grade, they thought my father was a rabbi because I was the only one with knowledge of Judaism. q: A lot of kids were surpringly ignorant about Judaism in general. They would ask me a lot of silly questions and then do that annoying mockery of Hebrew. sweatdrop But now that I'm in high school, it's sort of died down.

heh- I've had the mockery before.
They just use lots of "chs" (chet, chaf, etc.) It's quite stupid, but vaguely amusing. rolleyes

actually i find it hilarious because like i play with my friends: if they do that i like go really pissed and they're like what? i act all offended and walk away and they freak out. i tell them some random insulting line like they said it and they re like cool and then they say sorryu and then like really get scared. and it just ends up into everyone laughing somehow... i cant remember how, but its fun...

I like being a convertee. It confuses people! They say stuff like,"That's funny, because you look Jewish." and someone said,"So you didn't like Passion of the Christ?" I think we should have our own convertee thread Yvette!

My high school has a ton of Jewish kids. If it's Rosh Hashana, half the class is absent. I've only gotten one incredibly stupid question from someone: "So, you're Jewish, right? Doesn't that mean you don't believe in G-d or something?" "What?" I don't know where he got that from. He was never the brightest crayon in the box. rolleyes

Lol, I like to joke about Judiasm a lot, but it's more like I mock the idiotic stereotypes. Whenenver we talk about money or show business or math, I tend to bring up my religion. q: Oh, and I have a lot of fun answering silly questions.

We don't have any Jewish Holidays off here...My dad says if there were any Jewish kids, they should just stay home...Everyone doesn't have to. But I don't think it's fair that we should have to be unexcused for something like that is all.

Why not just throw in a few extra days off? wink

New York always gave us days off for Rosh Hoshana and Yom Kippur 3nodding and at my University they even give half-days for travel time. Though I am glad that Yom Kippur falls on a weekend this year >.< since then I don't have to use vacation time up at work. Damn corporations.
