I thought it would be nice to have a thread where people can ask for help from people who might know how to help.

Aaaand!

I'm having a problem!!

Dorian's 100% beautiful eyelashes are coming off! The glue is getting unsticky. What can I do to fix it? I think I have some glue for human fake lashes, would that work? Or do I have to buy all new eyelashes (which I really don't want to do... his are so pretty...)?

When my DoD Leya's eyelashes were coming off, I took a needle, covered it in super glue, and very carefully glued them back on. It worked and I haven't had a problem with them since. 3nodding

Thaaaanks. I'll see what I can do. I'll have to go look for my actual eyelash glue, since I think it would work fine.

Did you have to take her eyes out to apply it?

Nope, I just sat her down and did it. It was no big deal. biggrin

I would suggest taking them out just incase. That is if it's not a big ordeal. Super glue does not come off of eyes very easily

whee I used fake nail glue and it worked pretty well. The lashes are a bit crushed and not nearly as fan-like as they were before, but they're on there pretty well.

Judas' left one decided it wanted to pop off, but in order to get it back on nicely, I'll have to take out his eyes...
And I'm lazy. ninja

It'll get done once he gets his new wig though. <3

My question: How bad do BJD's look if they haven't been sanded (or for that matter coated) and does sueding effect the doll that much?

Nowadays, the non-sanded BJDs don't look much different.
I don't bother to sand mine, but two have come pre-sanded, and Reila came partially sanded.

I've never seen what sueding can do, but Reila came wired and it doesn't do squat.
Except for maybe make it a little harder to pose her.

Ok, thank you. I was going to order from Volks and they had the options to sand and coat and suede and wire your doll and I really don't have the spare cash at the moment. I've decided to get a Luts Soo, but I still don't have hardly enough to even pay for her or even get make-up.

Ah. The only thing I'd do is coat the doll, and if you order the makeup from Luts, they should atleast coat her head.

I'm not not getting make-up because I can't afford the extra $50 that it takes. I was thinking of maybe getting the doll, making adequate amounts of clothes to sell on ebay or Den of Angels, and using the money from that to pay for a pretty nice face-up. Also, I realized that the dolls do not come with their eyes already in place, so do you know what I can use that might be just sitting around my house to keep them in?

Alot of people recommend sculpey, or white gummy artist eraser. The eraser is cheap to get in any arts and crafts store (like $.99) and it doesn't have any destructive oils or anything.

Wait... so you're getting a Luts doll? When I got my El he already had a random set of eyes in place. They were held in by some white putty stuff and I just took them out and used the putty to put his new ones in. And surpringly it was a lot easier than I expected.

I'm not having a problem really as much as I'm having a problem deciding. I want my next boy to resemble Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance, the doll won't BE Gerard but he'll have as much as a resemblance as possible and perhaps some of his character traits. (This would be Donovan who I originally had picked Shiwoo for.)

I love the CP boys so I'm going between Chiwoo, Shiwoo and Yder right now. Here is my LJ entry with pictures of Gerard and pictures of the three dolls.

If anyone would just give me their input (here, in a PM or in a response to the journal. I do allow anonymous posting so if you don't have an LJ that's fine) I'd be really appreciative.
