The Sony Reader PRS-500 is an e-book holder, and it ha enough page turns to read all the Harry Potter books, 3 times. I personally dont think that it will be much of a threat, seeing as its electronic, and most readers will still read their books, I know I will!

Eh.. It's much more fun to actually have the books in your collection. Why have a bunch of disks when you can have a bookshelf full of books?

Actually, if I had the money for it I might buy one. It'd be nice to be able to take all my favorite books with me without having to lug around all the weight. But that doesn't mean I'd give up actual books! Electronic pages don't have that wonderful book scent. Or pretty covers.

Who would pay an arm and a leg plus whatever each books costs when you could just go out and bu the book in a store? Plus how are you going to read rare, uncommon, and out-of-print books?

I don't even fancy reading books on my monitor so I wouldn't really want an electronic reader, no matter how convienient. There's just something about having an actual book in your hands. The texture, the aroma, and even the signs of age if it's not new.
Where's the danger of being trapped under fallen piles of books when all you have are discs?

But that doesn't mean I'd give up actual books! Electronic pages don't have that wonderful book scent. Or pretty covers. Same here. I would probably buy both versions of my favorite books. I like reading things online (I find I read somewhat faster when scrolling than with turning the page) but it's a pain that e-books aren't portable the way real books are. It would also be cool to download rare and hard to find books online, instead of having to pay for shipping.

That is actually extremely practical in comparison to lugging around huge books. sweatdrop Although I'd rather collect regular books, aren't we reluctant because of tradition and aesthetics? I could be wrong.

I wouldn't get it. But I guess it would be handy for when one would be going on a slightly long holiday and couldn't cart all the books they'd read on the trip.

I probaly would not, I like to feel the weight and touch the pages and I like the pictures that some of them have. For a long trip it might be good though.

This is actually the first I have heard of it. From what I'm able to gather, it's an electronic book holder where you read the books as they are displayed on the moniter. I'm all for technology, in fact, I LOVE technology. My problem with this is that reading from a moniter is worse for your eyes than actually reading the book. Add this to TV, Computers, PDA's, etc and you get a society of people wearing bottle cap lenses.
I perfer having books with paper pages that look like they've been read a million times.
The only up point, people actually may read more because they get to use this cool new toy.

I'd probably buy one for use on holidays and such, but I wouldn't use it all that often. I like books with their pages and covers and such (plus, I dislike reading books and stories off a screen).
Still, there is another positive side. No paper cuts. xD

Reading something off a screen never has the same effect for me. =/ Maybe I'd buy one if I got the money, but only so my favorite books could be more complact for vacations and things like that. It's nice to have an actual book in your hands. ^^
