In the middle of the Pacific Ocean, just north of the chain of Hawaiian Islands a small, rocky isle rises out of the ocean. Magma Isle. For the whole circumfrence of the island 500 metre sheer cliff faces rise out of the ocean, made of smooth, hard volcanic rock they are near impossible to scale. On top of the cliffs the gradient reduces and rises up 10,000 feet to the summit of a volcano. Smoke and ash pour out of the crater with lava flows emerging from various points along the slope. A ring of dense forest encircles the base of the volcano. The forest is filled with vines, giant carnivorous plants and large cats with a taste for human flesh. Past the forest the mountian is bare, providing very little cover to people scaling its heights.
Inside the walls of the volcano resides a metropolis of people living in caverns that worm their way through the rock of the volcano like a termites' next through an old tree. The city extends down into the under water roots of the mountain. High speed elevators move personel and goods quickly between the various levels. Each of the population is part of the military of the organisation of the island. All have elite training and armed with a basic array of uzi sub machine guns, powerful M-9 pistols and M-4 Carbine rifles. A lot of the soldiers have secondary jobs as scientists, research and developers, surveilance and computer technicians among other things. Other soldiers are dedicated special forces with extra armanents such as sniper rifles and grenade launchers. Other special forces control F-35 Lightning II jets with Verticle Take-Off and Landing and stealth capabilities, Black Hawk helicopters and tracked weaponary such as Bradley M3A3 Cavalry Fighting Vehicle and Abram M1A2 SEP tanks with thermal sensors and digital warfare capabitlities. A small but efficient navy of submarines, based in underwater caverns, patrol the perimeter. They are armed with anti-ship weponary. Atop the summit is a ring of 30 ICBM silos, two of which are always ready for rapid firing. The nature of the ICBM war heads is as yet unknown to none but the leader of the island.
The underground city is self sustaining, with farms ontop of the crater taking advantage of the rich volcanic soil and ample sunlight. Cattle and sheep are grazed further down the slope in open grasslands. Concealed openings are placed in the side of the volcano in strategic positions, to allow easy access to the farming areas, quick deployment in case of attack and defensive purposes in case of seige. The doors involve sliding panels of soild rock that follow the curve of the mountain. There are no identifying marks for the doors, the inhabitants are taught the locations as a part of basic education. No one single member except the leader knows the location of all openings for security purposes. The city is powered by using an intricate system of channels in the rock which move lava into a winding pattern under a large water reservoir. The water is boiled and the steam drives giant turbines to generate electricity. The spent lava is ejected out the side of the volcano. They are placed to channel intruders into disadvantaged positions, where they are quickly disposed of.
The entire city is controlled by a single Master. His office resides in the summit on the highest level of the city. It takes up the entire circumfrence, with a continuous window encircling the volcano so he can see in all directions. The floor rotates so he can view any angle he wishes from his desk. From this room he controls an array of surveilance and communication satellites which track the island and any other location that he wishes as well as providing links between his forces.
The force also has a second front, a peanut and confectionary factory down the street from his rivals commercial front, a night club. It is stationed here to allow quick action against his good chum. It is stationed with elite soldiers with basic armament as well as a single F-35 in a hangar in the roof which is accessed by a door in the roof. There are also 2 Bradleys and 2 Abrams hidden within the complex. The size of the force is small but well trained and capable of extreme damge. There is constant action between this outpost and Magma Isle.
From these positions the Master plots to defeat his enemies and take world domination!

Naughty or Nice...?

Wingo sits in his base, splashing around on Google Earth. He had heard rumours of a new island appearing, armoured to the teeth with a maniacal mistress as its leader bent on world domination. He smiled to himself as he thought Women... always wanting to wear the pants.
After about half an hour of searching, he decided that Google Earth may not be the best option to find the island. He sat in a large, leather, business chair that was padded to the hilt. A keyboard was attached to the arm that Wingo swung over, covering his lap. He fingered the wheel that was used as the mouse and opened a few applications. The first he headed to was his browser. Pointing it to Google he started searching for any articles he could find relating to the island. As he started looking at each article in turn the power dipped, sending the lights low and flicking his computer off. He pulled up the power output monitor for his geothermal electricity generators based in the volcano of his island. The output was lower than usual, probably due to low activity of the volcano. This was one of the problems of basing a lair on an island, you had limited opitions for electricity.
The revelation hit him like a mack truck heading down an interstate highway. This new island must rely on the same power source as his, geothermal vents! Following his line of thinking, and estimating the size of the island from reports, it must draw a lot of power thus needing a very reliable source of geothermal activity. The only place he could think of to produce such a reliable source was a Mid Oceanic Ridge (MOR), the underwater volcanic mountain ranges where two tectonic plates meet. These ranges continually poured out geothermal energy as they forced the tectonic plates apart. He opened up his computer again and opened up his satellite control system. He sent it a set of instructions to scan the MORs for the island, hoping his assumption was right.

Wingo sits, swivelling in his chair. His office slowly rotates around the summit as her watches the installation of new SAM arrays. The SAMs surrounded the volcano in concentric circles starting at the cliff edge up to the summit. Each SAM site is conealed under covers of sliding rock, much like the doors. The covers would slide across and the SAM raise if action is necessary. They feature auto-targeting and firing and can also raise automatically so no human operation is required. If in certain situations it is possible for a human to control the devices.
A warning sounds which brings Wingo's attention back into his office. He looks up at the plasma screen on the wall and sees that the latest satellite scans have downloaded. He flicks through the images one by one when an image towards the end of the collection grabs his attention. A mid sized grey mass sat in the centre of the ocean. He consulted the co-ordinates of the location and overlayed a map of the area ontop of the image. The map showed no such landmass should be there and that the mass was straddling over a highly active spot on the Mid Atlantic Ridge. Wingo was sure this was the evil girl's island. He sent his satellites instructions to sweep and take 3D maps of the island, and also to take pictures of the inhabitants of the island as well as any defences.

((That's a really long and hard assignment you got there. You know how big that island is? Know how many people live there? ^^;; Good luck, all the same. I've got an easier way of taking pictures of you. =p ))

Naughty or Nice...?

((Not really, 3D mapping of an island around your size would take less than a week and the pictures are only a selective probe, not a full scale scan. Even if the pics were a full scale scan it would only take a month to two to get high quality images))

((Doesn't matter if the boom is big enough.))
A dark shadow enters Magma Isle airspace. It's very high. So high, in fact that it's immune to most forms of interception, and its stealth to boot. The pilot maintains radio silence, and begins taking pictures of the island. Including thermal imaging, normal pics, and a general mapping of the whole island, its villages within the forests, and the locations of the cattle farms.

((Bunker busters penetrate around 6m into solid concrete. Now volcanic rock is around the hardness, if not harder, than concrete. With a structures thats 50m + underground it would only rattle a few rocks loose from the ceiling))

Wingo sifted through the new lot of data fresh from the satellite. The island was well organised with a strict structure that spoke of military discipline. There were regular defences such as SAMs and a giant wall surrouding the island. In the centre was some form of peak that rose above all the buildings. He could see the wake of large ships at regular intevals around the shore of the island. He continued flicking through the images until a clerk came in.
"Master, all SAM defences are in place and ready for testing." The clerk saluted and left.
Wingo smiled and flipped his keyboard over his lap. He clicked a few buttons and the SAM defences emerged out of their hiding holes. Their shining silver exteriors glinted in the sun, giving the isle a menacing look. Thousands of clay targets fired up into the air. The SAMs tracked them with laser targeting, each targeted on 10 targets each. There is a brief period of rapid firing and the island is obscured by clay dust, fire and smoke. As the debris clears Wingo smiles to himself.

The pilot was given a godsend during that missile test. Still circling, he didn't miss the chance to take pictures of the SAM emplacements as they arose. Now there was a complete mapping of defences and he debated going home before the dust cleared...
