With each week that passed, Matukos pale stomach had ballooned to accompany the small lives she had within her gentle grasp. The female and her mate had discussed cubs and recently travelled to the jungle, the place which they deemed fit to house their family.

Mng'Arizo was away for a moment, and Matuko was strolling through the peaceful jungle, her tail swaying from side to side, her expression peaceful. All the gifts fate had given her recently. She smiled gently. This decision had been one of those rare instances when a creature can make their own choice and accept the consequences.

As she grew bigger each day, she recognised the unfamiliar sensation of wriggling within her stomach, and although it alarmed her at first, she had now grown used to the soft movement from the cubs. She found it almost comforting. However it was becoming a little hard to move, so she sat down, her ivory limbs stretched out as she released a content sigh.

Suddenly she felt a twinge in her stomach, a sharp pain which shot through her lower body. Frowning, she dismissed it. The supersticious cheetah wasn't too intelligent, and she'd only realise of the forthcoming labour when the pain grew too intense to bear.

(( Zo, just so you know, I'd like for Takatifu to be born last, is that OK? heart ))

Mng'arizo was hunting nearby. Well, he was trying too. He wasn't a huge fan of the heat, and the Jungle was particularly humid today. Frowning lightly, he turned and decided to head back to where he had left Matuko. He just about caught her scent among the strong smell of flowers, and headed in the direction that it seemed to be coming from. "Matuko, darling?" He called out.

Matuko's pregnancy had been quite fasinating thus far. He never imagined that she would grow that fat. Of course, he would never say that to her face. Chuckling to himself at the thought of what Matuko would do to him if he said she was fat, he quickened his pace, eager to see the love of his life in all her pregnant glory.

((That's fine <3 ))
She heard the voice of her mate, and tried to smile widely as he approached, calling out. "Mng'arizo! I'm here!" He usually quite voice was high pitched as she felt another sudden twinge in her stomach. As the male became visable she gave him a slight smile, looking apprehensive. "Arizo" She said, muttering his nickname. "I believe fate has chosen today as the birthday for our litter."

A painful expression replaced her peaceful one, as another contraction rippled through her lower half, almost crippling her. It was followed by another and they were growing more intense in pain.

As he entered the small clearing where Matuko was stood, his heart skipped a beat. "T-today?" He stuttered as he moved over to his mate, pressing his body against hers incase she needed the extra support.

Mng'arizo had always been confident no matter what he did, and in any situation, until now. "Are you OK my love? Do you need water, or food, or anything?" He managed a shakey smile, realising that him being worried wasn't going to help Matuko at all.

She raised her head to nuzzle his, face twisted, large brown eyes watering as the pain grew again. Matuko struggled to speak, her voice shaking uncontrollably, she was scared, she was in pain but most of all she was ecstatic. "T-today!" She managed a wide smile, brow furrowing as she nodded to answer his question. "I'm fine, t-thankyou..."

She tried not to let out a cry as another contraction passed, the urge to push growing stronger. Her long pale limbs lay obvious against the dark green foliage. Her giant stomach moved with every jagged breath. Finally she could bear it no longer, these cubs would not be born simply of fate, they needed physical help in the form of their mothers guidance into the world.

Squeezing her eyes together, she pushed as hard as she could, feeling resistance against her uterus. This was by far the hardest thing she had ever had to do, it was so physically draining and she could barely believe she was actually having cubs! Another large push and a white cub fell from between her limbs, rested gently against the long grass. The cub had light spots, spread sparsely across her pelt; she looked just like her father. Matuko barely had time to smile and acknowlege her daughter before another contraction took place, gripping her lower half.

((DKs cub is born ))

Mng'arizo stood firmly against Matuko, taking any weight that shifted on to him as she pushed. He never thought that it would be this difficult for her, or for him, as he breathed in short, sharp gasps. "I'm here, don't worry!" He managed another smile as he whispered some words of reassurance into her ear.

Soon after saying that, and with one final push from Matuko, the first cub was born. Mng'arizo's eyes widened as he started at the tiny creature, who was an absolute spitting image of him. "She looks just like me, she's perfect!" He cheered, momentarily forgetting that there were more cubs to be born. After he had calmed down, he stretched out a paw to carefully scoop the cub up and place her just in front of Matuko. There, he leaned his head down to clean the little girl off, but kept his body stood strongly beside his mate.

(( surprised I've PMed DK to let her know so that she can come and make a short post... ))

Smiling to her mate, her eyes squinting as the pain jolted through her stomach, limbs writhing slightly in agony. Never had the female experienced such a mixture of emotions, such happiness but such pain and fear at the same time, all of them obvious in her large brown eyes.

Matuko couldn't help it this time and between her sharp breaths she let out a cry, pushing harder. She wasn't a paticularly strong creature, more one of grace, as most cheetahs were. Another few pushes later she could feel another figure slide between her legs. This time the cub was male and was gifted with more spots of a darker shade, just like his mother. She gave a sigh of relief, almost laughed until she felt another contraction and wondered just how many cubs there were.

Struggling even more this time, her long legs beat against the foliage, almost flattening it as she cried loudly. When would this pain end? She knew this was a consequence of their choice, but she knew he cubs would be so worth it. She could see it now, all of the forming a perfect family, living peacefully in the jungle. However the dream was suddenly pierced with reality, she needed to get this cub out. Trying harder she gritted her teeth, sweat dripping down her pelt and dampening her pale fur considerably.

Finally the cub was born, a girl who was the spitting image of her mother, except she bore the strange tear-streaked marking of her father. Matuko felt like she could finally breathe. Breathing fast and hard she looked over her 3 beautiful cubs, leading her pink tongue over the most recent arrival to clean her daughter.

But it appeared fate brought another unexpected suprise. Matuko felt another contraction and although it wasn't in her nature she almost swore. "Another?!" She was so physically drained and she didn't want to distress the cub. Instantly anxiety set in, fear tainting her vision of the future, what if either she or the cub didn't survive? Her heart thumped, as she prepared to push again, praying that her new son or daughter would arrive unharmed.

It took what seemed like an eternity and the vision of the jungle before her was swimming, her head thumping, breathing irregular but her heart warm and whole. Finally the last cub appeared, fully white. Her head fell to the soft green ground, as she caught up on her breath, hoping Mng'arizo would interfere and clean their son.

When she had finally calmed down and her body had come to terms with its previous distress the exhausted cheetah looked over her cubs, eyes sparkling with tears. She'd never felt more full or accomplished in her life, and though her body bore the symptoms of one that had just been through vigorous exercise, her dark eyes blazed with a passion and emotion so hard and so strong that it overtook everything else. Love. "I love you Mng'arizo." She whispered. Then in turn she looked over her cubs, adressing them each. "I love you, and I love you, and I love you, and I love you." Licking at them all she felt her heart swell happily.

The small cub remained quiet and still, and next to her siblings she could have been taken for dead, but everyso often she would shuffle and move closer to her mother. Mfuto, as she was to be named, lay within the warmth of her mothers fur, content and neither irate nor affectionate regarding the presence of her siblings. As any newborn she was defenseless weak and dependant on her parents. However she was unusually calm and content, refusing to fight blindly for her mothers milk she simply fit into a gap and began to drink. Her small white form blended in perfectly with her family, so that the jungle floor looked almost snow-capped.

((Righto I'm off to Portugal <3 Seeya later guys, feel free to RP as much as you want, obviously, and I'll catch up when I come back! ))

Mng'arizo watched with wide-eyes as things progressed. It soon got to a point where he could feel every breath that Matuko took, which caused him to breathe in unison. His long legs shuddered every so often, threatening to buckle under the sheer excitement and fear of it all.

The second cub was a mix of both of them. "He'll be a handsome devil, just like his father." He said with a grin, in a rather serious tone of voice. It was hard to lighten his voice with all that was going on. He hated to see the love of his life in pain.

The third cub looked just like her mother, which caused an even wider smile to grace the proud father's face. He was quickly to scooped her up and placed her with her siblings, a long sigh of relief and pride escaping his throat. It wasn't over yet though.

"Another?!" Mng'arizo repeated what Matuko said, a look of shock and fear radiating in his bright green eyes. "It'll be alright my love, I promise!" Although that wasn't a promise he could easily keep, as he didn't know what was going to happen now, he just wanted Matuko to be OK. He shifted his body against hers and nuzzled his head firmly and lovingly against her neck as she continued to push with the last of her strength.

Finally, after much hard work, the last cub was born. Mng'arizo stared at him for a moment, his head slightly tilting to the left. The last cub was pure white and completely spotless. Although he loved the last cub as much as the first, second and third, he couldn't help but wonder why he looked so different from the rest. Shaking these thoughts off for the moment, he nuzzled the cub towards the others, and again let out a sigh of relief. "I'm so proud Matuko." He purred heavily.

As Matuko lay down to begin feeding the cubs and cleaning them properly, so did Mng'arizo. He lay just in front of Matuko, curling his body round so that he could look at the cubs as well as allow Matuko to rest her head on his body if she wanted to. "I love you too." He whispered back, leaning over to lick his mate's cheek. "And I love our family. I precious, perfect family."

The completely white cub, who would later be named Takatifu, remained almost perfectly still, although his mewing was the loudest of all the cubs. He made no effort to reach his mother's milk, and continued to mew, seemingly thinking that everything he needed would just come to him somehow because of his mewing. Sure enough, he was soon nuzzled towards a teet, which finally shut him up.

Where once there had been warmth there was now humidity, a strange moisture in the air that put a strange pressure on the little cub's lungs. The cheetah took his first breaths, leaned into the affectionate, cleaning licks of his mother and sought to find his first meal.

His tubby body rolled slightly sideways and though he made no squeaking sounds to announce his hunger he still showed the actions of a healthy cub.

Finally he found his rightful position, blindly groping forwards with his tiny paws to knead against his mother's stomach to encourage his first meal down into his mouth.

There. Food.

His stomach warmed with his first meal and for now the nameless cub would be content, though looking at him now no one could guess that this little cub was doomed to a life of depression, seeking the meanings to questions that might never be answered.

And so began Pekee'dunia's quest.

The quest to find the meaning of life...
