Chana sighed happily as she came up to her favorite bend in the river. The water was slightly deeper there, all the better for fishing.

It was amazing, and a little scary, how much better being outside by the river made her feel. The beaver liked it (though would rather see the river dammed), and she liked it. The privacy and peace of the area was a welcome change from her duplex.

Bobby had spent most of her time in her duplex or close to it. She couldn't leave it for long without getting incredibly hunger pangs. At some points, she thought she had worms or something.... for no matter how much she ate she was still so hungry. If it wasn't so impossible, it could be a baby "worm"... but she doubted even more that she was pregnant. Either way, she had a large backpack and a packed messenger bag at her side. It was just enough to last a day out and about... and it had been so long since she had been "out".

The woman found her way to the river. The sight of the water made her shudder a little, but it was much less than that of the ocean, so maybe she could relax and enjoy the peace.

There was a splash of water, and the pig stared hard, what was that? "Hello?" Bobby called out.

Chana had jumped in the water and was trying to catch a fish when she heard someone call out. It didn't sound like someone she'd met before...though that could just be the water in her ears.

The beaver swam over to the shallows so that she didn't have to tread water. "Hello! Who's there?"

It seemed a safe enough question...she hadn't yet met a woman on the island that she'd run screaming from...unless if it was in anger from Antony. But this didn't sound like Antony.

Bobby walked closer to the shore, still wary of it's depths. She had learned the hard way that swimming wasn't much of an option anymore. When she saw the brown face, she couldn't help but kneel down and smile. The pig had no idea what it was that she was encountering, but this young woman smelled like a mammal.... but there she was swimming. And those teeth.... she wasn't quite sure what the other one was turning into. While she studied the bright face, quiet grunts came unnoticed from her throat and nose.

"Hello, I'm Bobby..." the pig eyed her, "I don't think I have met you before."

"I'm sure we've never met, but I'm Chana," the beaver said happily. She was so much more relaxed for being in the free-flowing water...perhaps she'd have to camp out here or something, just as long as she was here more often. Her beaver tail slapped the water as she thought about that.

Bobby looked...well...she looked like someone who would've tried all of the fad diets Chana had ever heard of and more. But the snout, the ears, the tusks...that had to be part of her changes. The beaver hated to think of anyone that way, but Bobby looked like a pig.

"I guess you've been here for a while," she said, though the dryness the comment should have had was rather offset by her own exuberance.

Bobby would have waddled to the shoreline, but alas she was just too big. So, she stood up again and then went to sit on dry land, letting her hooved feet get wet in the water She took off the packs and set them to the other side while she tried to relax in the water near Chana.

Seeing the tail, her eyes widened in realization, "Oh, a beaver!" She realized almost immediately what she said and seemed embarrassed. "Sorry..." Bobby grumbled low in her throat.

"Umm, awhile... I think. If my changes mean anything, I would think that would explain the time." Bobby smiled sheepishly, her bottom fangs gleaming unthreateningly, "I have no idea how long.... what about you? Awhile?"

Chana chuckled a bit. "Yeah, a beaver. Kinda obvious when you see it...so I guess it's good. I didn't have to ask." Her voice trailed off as she noticed a fish investigating her legs. He had no right to be down there! She slapped at the fish irritably with her tail before turning back to Bobby.

"I've been here...since November," she admitted. "It's amazing that so much has changed in such a short time." Her excitement dimmed a bit wit those melancholic words. If only she hadn't...

Ah...who was she kidding. She was stuck here, and that was that. Besides, if she hadn't come here, she would never have met Stewart, and that had too much potential to just toss aside.

If Stewart had been where the fish was, she certainlky wouldn't have slapped him with her tail...

...and the beaver's eyes unfocused a bit as she was off in her day dream.

"Just a little," Bobby smiled. She figured her monstrous obesity helped others to figure out what /she/ was.

Watching the interaction with Chana and the fish, Bobby leaned over a little, catching just the fleeting glance of the creature's scales. "Aww," she joked, "there goes lunch..." Actually, she wouldn't have minded fish.... maybe she brought some.

Bobby turned to one of her bags and started to 'fish' in it for some marine-food. She was unpacking much of the wide variety of food the bag contained. The pig turned back, her eyes staring off at first, "I think it was... March for me. But Novemeber?" she was giong to say something about the holidays -at least she had that last Thanksgiving and Christmas- but decided against it.

The look on Chana's face didn't go past her womanly instincts. There was some potential good gossip there, don't ya know! Bobby pulled out a tuna sandwich and then all her attention was on the beaver. She grinned impishly, her eyes shining "Oh.... is there a lucky guy for you here? I am old enough to know /that/ look!" the pig winked.

"March, eh?" she repeated, a bit dazed from her distraction still. She was able to retreat back into the dream for a bit longer until Bobby started talking in the standard 'woman wants the juicy gossip' tone.

The beaver looked up, flushing a little. "Well...hopefully. We...we had a rocky start," well, yeah, he'd had a crush on Antony! "but things are better. Now it's just been bad timing. And we don't see each other too much," she finished sadly.

She was not about to mention that part of that was because she spent most of her time in her duplex trying to figure out the island and praying. It was too depressing to think about on such a nice day.

Bobby listened attentively, watching the young woman's face. Something definately went on... her little match-making gears started turning. Because she didn't know what all went on, Bobby was at a few losses as to what could be done. "Do you know how he feels?"

Seriously, who was she to talk... sure, she was always quick with the men, but did -that- count? Well, maybe she could help someone else in her troubles, "I am afraid I don't know a lot as to what has been going on... my Island-network is fairly small still. May he be someone I know, by chance?"

What she termed 'soccer mom', the ones who knew everyone and had to be in everyone else's business, was starting to take hold... mixing with the match-maker in her. Bobby snorted quietly, trying to make the connections in her mind.

Chana snorted. "Of course I know how he feels! Even though he ran off right after we kissed...I think he changed that night. I felt really bad, I left him a basket of food the next morning," she told the pig, cheeks still pink under her fur. For some reason, Bobby reminded her of the nice old women at any Temple, the ones who always asked her what she was doing there on a Friday night, and when she'd find herself a nice young man.

Well, except Bobby wasn't that old. But she had that nice, motherly feel to her.

Bobby stopped eating for a second. Well, whoever the man was, it sounded like he was a little shy... "He changed after the kiss? That's not very comfortable circumstances. He doesn't hold your action as 'the kiss of transformation'?" It was meant as a joke, but by the concern in her voice the pig was a little serious too.

"I don't know," Chana admitted, feeling a bit down now as she thought about it more. "I mean, I'd just changed for the second time that day. And...well...I don't know."

She played with a few twigs by her fingers, absently slipping one into her mouth to munch on.

"I mean, you don't think he blames me...do you?" she asked, looking up at Bobby hopefully.

Bobby smiled, small bits of tuna stuck to her teeth. "No, I doubt he blames you for that. You have no control over it, just like the rest of us." The last bit was added sadly. How DID her life go spiralling out of control? Oh yeah... /him/....

The pig sat back, not wanting to think about their hopeless situation just yet. The day was too nice to dampen with such thoughts. "So, would you mind telling me about him? What draws you to this lucky man," Bobby polished off her sandwich and grabbed a blood orange to eat -peel and all-.

"Oh my," Bobby shot up, looking at Chana, "I'm sorry, did you want something to eat? I will most likely have it..." the pig eyed the packs alost in dismay. She had always brought more stuff than she needed, but rarely so much /food/ in her 'last' life in New York.

"No, I'm fine," Chana replied in regards to the food, gesturing with another twig that vanished into her mouth.

"Well...his name's Stewart. He's religious, well-read, and so naive at times..." the beaver giggled as she remembered. "I'm almost certain he's a virgin, but I think that's part of being a Catholic priest, and he's so...so cute!" she finished triumphantly.

Her tail slapped at another fish trying to get into the off-limits zone. Stupid fish. She wondered if Stewart knew how to swim.
