My brain's repeating, if you've got an impulse...
I was watching the news and I hadn't known about this before, but the state I live in (Washington) might be the 2nd state in the USA to legalize gay marriage. Me being bi and all, am totally for gay marriage all the way, but I just wanted to hear what other people thought about the subject.

I say if people want to get married, either homo- or heterosexual, they should be able to. Marriage is a union of two people who love each other very much. Why should it matter if the couple is two people of the same sex?

Yeah, that's how I feel. I think one of the only things, no offence to those who are religious, the only thing keeping people from accepting this is religion, which, it really shouldn't be. Whatever happened to seperation of church and state? You shouldn't be able to force someone to not do/do something that you want them to because your religion says that it's right.

Agreed. Though seperation of church and state is more of a concept than a law, imposing your beliefs on someone else is not only wrong, but goes against one of the principles this nation (or at least the settlements which developed into this nation) was founded on.

I live in Washington too, Yukita. =3

I was very happy when I read that the state might be legalizing gay marriage. While I believe it'll definitely ruffle some feathers (all of Eastern Washington's feathers, to be exact) overall it'll give Washington something to be proud of.

Besides, the more states that recognize gay marriage, the more likely the rest of the country will accept homosexuality.

Washington recently did something else I definitely approved of: Gregoire asked (well, demanded, actually) that the movement that would allow pharmacists to refuse drugs to customers that would come into conflict with that pharmacist's beliefs (mainly birth control) be recalled. Not that this has anything to do with gay marriage, but it's a controversial issue that's finally being resolved in Washington so I felt it may as well be mentioned. ^^;;

I would rather support civil unions for gay couples. While I'm all for making things legal, and giving gays the benefit of those things that traditional couples get (tax breaks, the partner's health benefits, etc.), I do think marriage is by definition a legal union between two people of the opposite sex.

Also, I simply can't imagine U.S. society at this time accepting gay marriage. Call it unfair, but we are a very conservative society in many ways.

In California, a woman married a rock.
If people can marry rocks, why can't they marry other people of the same sex?
Why be forced to conform to the standards of beliefs you don't hold?

That's just silly! But then, that's California ...

In any matter of Religion I stand by my motto, LCA. Love conquers All. If people want to get married, I'm all for it. Gay, straight, hermaphraditic.... Go for it. I'm bi, so I want to be able to show a symbol of my devotion to someone no matter their gender.

To religious christian males...you love God? Doesn't that make you gay for God? *random*

God created the human race to the purpose of loving Him and each other.

Love and sex are by all means, two different things. I love my mother, does that make me gay AND incestuous? So, throwing out the suggestion that men who follow a religion are gay for their God is basically pointless.

I'm not saying I'm all against gay marriage. Oh, hell no. Gay marriage should be allowed. But, I do agree with Fresnel. It's too early for the idea of gay marriage to be fully tackled. Yeah, a few states are most likely going to legalize it. But I also believe that we're going to have a female president before all the states legalize it. I know church and state are seperated but there are people who aren't religious and believe gay marriage should be kept illegal.

As far as abortion and birth control goes. Pharmacists and the whole lot of them need to shove it where the sun doesn't shine. This is our body and they have no right to have a say so in what we do with it [If anyone tries to use the whole 'But drugs are illegal' thing on me. Yeah, those are illegal because they kill us. Birth control and morning after pills don't.]. Forgive us if we don't want to ruin what we have already going for us. Sex doesn't ruin lives, but having children has been known to.

I don't know, those are my thoughts on the matter. Gay marriage should be legal, but not yet.

I belive gay marriage should be legal, but adotion shouldn't be allowed. Mainly because of all the stick the child will get growing up having gay parents. That could then lead to all sorts of chaos.

Adoption should still be allowed. I know several people with gay parents and they're straight. And whether a kid gets made fun of or not is also bullcrap. I got made fun of as a little kid and my mommy is straight. Almost every kid gets made fun of as a kid. And if they don't want to get made fun of for having gay parents then they shouldn't broadcast it. And yes, children may pull it out in kindergarten. But what other little Kindergartener would say, "EWW!! IT'S UNNATURAL AND AGAINST THE BIBLE TO HAVE TWO MOMMIES!!!!" That just... probably won't happen...

I think gay marriage should be allowed. Like, who are we to say what truely defines love?
I had to argue against gay marriage for an English debate, not my belief, but it was good to see some of the opposing viewpoints.

I could get into them, but I actually have to go, so probably later.

.|| I think it should be allowed and adoption for gay couples should be allowed as well, but I personally would rather not be married. Or adopt a child, for that matter.
