Aphismet looked around the house, and sighed, giving up. He'd been cleaning up for hours, and somehow the place still managed to look ratty and crappy. Maybe it was the color of the walls and furniture? Maybe it was the fact that a lot of his things didn't have a proper storage place, so they ended up piled in a corner in a semblance of towering order? Perhaps it was Aphismet's dirty laundry which spilled out of his over-filled bin and onto the floor near his bed...

"Damn. I wish I had a wall hiding my bedroom..." He sighed and headed to his bed, grabbing the top blanket and throwing it over the dirty clothes, disguising the mess as best he could.

"You're actually letting someone come in here?" Rivener asked, his sultry voice slightly mocking as he floated near Aphi's shoulder.

"Shush you!" Aph frowned. "They'll be here any minute; couldn't you help me instead of gloating?"

Rivener simply chuckled.

Chloe checked the small piece of paper she was holding before looking up again. She nodded to herself. "O-Okay.. just knock." She took a deep breath. She'd received a rather interesting call from Aphismet, he'd asked her to come visit him at his home. Something about learning how to be a better guardian, but what exactly he'd meant by that she wasn't completely sure.

Roux floated beside her holding a pale blue sun parasol, looking more sour and disapproving than ever. Not too long ago he had decided that he hated summer. He loathed summer. Summer could just die for all he cared. It made his hair wilt and stick, it made him feel extremely uncomfortable, weak even, but worse of all it made him burn. Oh did he burn. Chloe had actually done something right in his eyes by getting him this nifty shade contraption.

The heat sapped his energy so much he didn't even have the will to freeze the air around himself to make it more comfortable.

Chloe looked over sympathetically, giving a soft coo at her poor overheated Raeven. She had to get central air conditioning soon! She turned back, steadied her will and knocked very, very softly... possibly too soft for anyone to notice.

Roux sighed in exasperation beside her.

A loud ruckus resounded from inside the apartment, as Aphismet did his best to shove a few stacks of books under the couch, a pathetic attempt to hide the mess. Of course, in all the racket, he hadn't heard the knock. Even Rivener, whose hearing was better than his guardian's, couldn't hear the soft knock over the loud crashing and shuffling going on inside.

"How's that?" Aphismet asked Riv, stepping back to look at his handiwork.

"Why don't you just buy a bookcase or two?" Rivener asked with exasperation.

"WHAT?! I'm not made of money, you know! You remember money, don't you?" Aph frowned, making the "chaching" sign: rubbing his thumb against his fingers back and forth. "You have to give money to get bookcases, and to get money you have to work."

"But you DO work. A lot." Riv frowned back, at the unpleasant memory of the pizza parlor. He didn't like being dragged there; females were always squealing at him and milling about.

"I work to pay OTHER things, more important things! Bah, you don't understand! I just can't get a bookcase, alright? Now answer the question: How does it look?"

"It looks like you shoved books under a couch." Riv snapped. He was in a foul mood already, knowing their guest was a female. He sorely hoped the other one, the one like him, wouldn't be female as well.

Aph's shoulders drooped. "Dammit," he muttered, glaring at the books under the couch.

Chloe jumped back slightly, giving a nervous swallow at the noise and shouting from behind the door. She bit her lip and wrang her hands anxiously. Maybe now wasn't a good time... "R-Roux maybe... we should call them from a payphone and.."

Roux floated past her, reached for the doorknob and twisted. It clicked and he pushed it open, moving indoors where it was hopefully more cool than outside. If he could just get into the shade for a good few moments then he'd be able to recover some.

As it was the hair at the nape of his neck was uncomfortably damp with sweat. He dropped his parasol uncaringly to the side and gave a loud sigh that spoke volumes for the usually silent Frei. He was glad to be out of the sun.

Chloe was framed in the doorway, paralyzed. She took a moment to shake off the stun of Roux's casual rudeness. "O-Oh... Mr. Aphismet... I.. I'm so sorry. Roux! That's not polite! You have to be invited in..."

Aph and Rivener both turned, startled, when the door swung open, letting in a handsome blue Raevan. A girl stood in the doorway.

"What the-" Aphismet started, before realizing who this must be; Miss Chloe and her Raevan, no doubt. "Oh!" he exclaimed, smiling nervously. "Oh, er, come in, come in! Close the door, you'll let all the AC out..."

A small AC machine was boxed in the window, one of the first major purchases Aphismet had ever made. Much like Roux, Aphismet couldn't stand too much heat... A fact Rivener, who enjoyed nothing better than sunning himself on a warm rock somewhere, despised. The apartment would always vascillate between a state of cold comfort, to warm and muggy, depending on who had fiddled with the machine's commands last. At the moment, the room was just cooling off from Rivener's latest adjustment.

"I'm so glad you could come, please don't mind the mess..." He blushed and walked to the door, waiting until Chloe stepped in before closing it behind her.

Rivener blinked at the new Raevan, a slow smirk spreading on his lips. This boy was delicious-looking. Absolutely gorgeous. Perhaps even prettier than Lazarus? Hmm. That would remain to be seen; personality had a lot to do with it.

"Hello," Rivener offered in his sultry voice, floating forward slowly to meet this new companion.

Chloe stepped inside nervously so Aphismet could close the door. She gave a small nervous smile and extended a hand to the other. "H-Hello.. I'm Chloe Star.. but I-I guess you'd know that. What.. what did you need me for?"

As soon as Roux had realized there was an AC he had began heading toward it. Already he could feel himself cooling down to a more comfortable temperature. The voice distracted him, brows furrowing together in annoyance. He hated it when people tried to talk to him. He turned to give a non-chalant glace toward the speaker and instead paused to give the other Raeven a more intense inspection.

Hm... this one was different from the other male Raeven's he'd met so far. Gage infuriated him upon first glance and Sevilin, though he had admited Roux was more pretty, was uninteresting as a whole. This one, however, wasn't even aggrivating to look at.

He canted his head to the side slightly, absently licking his top lip as though he were chosing his words carefully. "Hello. You are...?"

Aphismet led the way into the Living room... That is to say, simply to the couch that sat in the middle of the apartment, facing a rather ratty-looking television.

"Well, um, when I went to get Rivener the first time... Oh, that's Rivener by the way, and I'm er, Aphismet... Anyway, when I went to the lab to get him, Dr Tsu said that if I had any kind of questions I could ask you. I didn't want to bother the doctors with my silly questions, so I thought that you'd be... Erm, you'd be okay for answering them?" He blushed and kicked himself mentally, realizing that he probably sounds like someone who came up with a lame excuse to see someone outside of a work setting... This isn't what that was at all! Not that Chloe wasn't cute or anything... But that has nothing to do with this visit!

Once again, Aphismet was waging a mental battle, facial expressions twisting from argument to argument, unaware that he was letting a rather long uncomfortable silence build while he berated himself.

Rivener smiled at the blue one. He was SO very pleasant on the eyes. His temperament seemed much calmer than Lazarus, who had raised his hackles as soon as he'd heard Rivener's mellow voice.

"I'm Rivener. I live here," he added with a disdainful look around. "You?" He asked, wanting to know this gorgeous creature's name.

Chloe politely sat down on the couch, really not minding the mess. Sometimes a mess just better defined a person's character. She gave a small nod at hearing how Dr. Tsu had recomended coming to her for questions. "Yes, I'll answer as much as I can for you, I can do that." She gave a small sigh of relief.. if the questions remained technical then she'd have no trouble answering.

She shifted slightly on the couch to better accomodate her sunburn and looked politely toward her host. "What.. what would you like to know first?" She kept half an eye on Roux, who wasn't really causing any trouble at the moment.

Roux placed a delicately long finger against his chest, tilting his head upward slightly to let his hair fall out of his face. "Roux." He pronounced it with a vauge french accent. He let his hand drop and continued to inspect Rivener, lips drawing together slightly - what an interesting creature indeed. Very handsome - in a way that was completely different than himself. He didn't know if he wanted to admire the other for it or desire it for himself.

"You're delicious. Yes?" He wasn't quite sure if that was the proper word... he'd learnt it when he'd eaten breakfast with Aki and Melisande. "Delicious?" For all he'd picked up he thought the word just meant something that was good looking in general, not to eat.

Aphismet sat, sighing in relief that Rivener wasn't causing this new blue Raevan any agitation. As a matter of fact, the new boy seemed interested in Riv! Satisfied that the scorpion-Raevan probably wouldn't get himself into too much trouble, Aph turned his attention to Chloe.

"You look like you've been a... That is, a, um... A mother? A-a guardian? Keeper? I don't even know what the proper term is. Erm, anyhow, it looks like you've had your Raevan for a while. I'm wondering if I might be doing something wrong. I wasn't expecting to have to raise anything when I applied for this apartment," he rambled slightly, not realizing that he probably wasn't making much sense, "And now all of a sudden I'm a Dad! Or, sort of a dad. I don't know. Anyway, Rivener never listens to me, and is rude to a lot of people at work. I don't know if I should be punishing him? Or is there something I'm not doing? Or maybe there's a trick to it!" He looked at Chloe eagerly, as though she would reveal a secret technique for raising a child.

Rivener laughed slightly, nodding his head. "Delicious, really? Delicious means good to eat," he continued with a pleased smile, not admitting that he himself had thought that very same thing of Roux. He had an intoxicating mystery about him, this Roux. And his voice was pleasant, with a strange and refreshing accent... Yes, he liked this new companion. Very much. "If I am delicious, then so are you," he nodded, floating a tad closer, testing where the line was with this one. He liked to be close to people when he spoke to them, even though he'd been told not to do that. He wanted to see if Roux would let him get as close as he wanted...

Chloe flushed darkly as Aphismet suggested the role of mother. She shook her head. "O-Oh... I'm not.. I consider myself more of a guardian than a parent..." Sometimes she accidently caught herself observing Roux and still referred to him as her 'Raeven Project' in her own mind from time to time. That wasn't very motherly.

She tilted her head to the side, listening emphatically to the question. "I... yes, I've had him for a while. But.. I'm n-not really sure I can answer that kind of question. It's more of a matter on h-how you want to raise him.. like a child, I guess. Just try your best.. I.. I suppose." She bit her lip.. oh dear, this wasn't technical at all. She flushed in shame and lowered her head slightly, looking down at her hands. "You saw how Roux just came in a bit ago... I-I'm not really the one to ask on how to make your Raeven listen to you.."

Roux perked up slightly at the compliment. He was delicious as well, well the information wasn't new to him really but it was always nice to hear someone else say so. A smile tilted his lips very slightly upward and he watched Rivener with cool eyes as he drew closer.

His face usually lacked in showing emotion, but now there was a light of interest in his eyes. For once he wasn't looking at the other Raeven with the desire to obtain something from him or coax him into praising Roux. There was actual curiosity there. And it seemed like the other was interested in him as well... perhaps? It delighted him deeply.

He leaned forward as well slightly, the air chilling a little directly around him to a pleasent coolness, not too hot, not too cold. "We are good to eat." He was not aware of his incorrect speach and was far from being embarassed by it. He could care less, the base of his messages usually got across alright.

Of to the side on the couch Chloe was secretly thrilled. She'd never heard Roux utter more than three words in a single breath before this was... quite frankly a breakthrough. She continued to pay polite attention to Aphismet as best she could.

Aphismet let out the breath he had been unconsiously holding, wishing for a miracle. He thought back on the girl's entrance with her Raevan, and agreed that she seemed to be in the same boat as he was. He pouted for a moment, caught himself, and cleared his throat, hoping she didn't see that.

"Well, erm... Why was I given one of those, then? I mean, everyone else I saw who has one, has a good REASON for having one. Mister Julian seems to be a really smart person, maybe a doctor or something! And Miss Shuura was a student at university or some other college-like thing... I never had the grades to get accepted anywhere after high school. And you work at the lab, that means you must be really smart! So, I can't understand why he'd give me one. I just work in a pizza parlor, you know? I make pizza all day. Every day." This thought obviously depressed him a little. "I don't understand. I'm too dumb to raise anything."

Rivener smiled in response to Roux's latest comment. "Why, yes we are!" he said, coming to a standstill very VERY close to Roux. He could easily have reached out and wrapped his arms around the blue Raevan if he wanted. As it was, he just raised a hand and placed a few fingers on Roux's hair, testing its texture.

It was nice, if a little cold. Riv wondered how Roux could have cold hair like that; Rivener would find that very uncomfortable. He preferred a warm place. Strangely, the air around the boy was a little colder, too. But Rivener thought that was just because he was now standing right next to the air conditioner.

"I like you," he declared with a happy, sultry smile, bedroom eyes riveted on the two icicle-eyes in front of him. "You're interesting. Mysterious. Pretty."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 25, 2006 7:34 pm

She caught the pout but ignored it, the man was obviously a bit frazzled about suddenly having this complex blend of soul and impossible fel essence, she knew she had been at first.

The new question was equally easier and harder to answer. "Ah... w-well.. for some people there are reasons, yes.. but... I think Dr. Kyou enjoys creating Raevens and gives them to people whom he thinks will give them proper homes.. I'm not really... I don't really know exactly why.. I-I never asked him. I suppose he.. he has his own reasons, though."

She blinked rapidly and gave a small, more comforting smile and reached out to lightly pat Aphismet's knee. "Oh.. don't say that. I don't think intelligence has anything to do with it.."

Roux wasn't bothered by the proximity of the other, in fact he himself reached out to stroke his fingers through Rivener's long hair with cool fingers. He enjoyed the texture very much and continued to very lightly stroke it as he continued to inspect the other.

And then Rivener smiled and Roux quickly copied the motion, sultry and all. He reached down to take Rivener's wrist and bring it up, placing their hands together palm to palm, and laced his fingers with the others. Were he a cat he might have purred at the compliments. "Like you. Interesting, yes, pretty mysterious."

Aphismet, hardly paying attention to Rivener, didn't notice the motion. Had he seen it, he would have jumped to intercede before Rivener continued; most of what he did was learned from television, and what normally comes next would be highly inappropriate for something his age. Too young.

As it stood, Aphismet simply continued talking. He blushed only slightly at the girl's hand on his knee.

"Yes, but I don't think he knew what he was doing! I get the feeling he was placing false lodging application forms at the office I went to, when I was looking for a new place to stay... There were all there weird, irrelevant questions on the form. Soon after I got this place, with a bottle and a vial that came with the key to the apartment. Maybe he confused my form with someone else's? The secretary there wasn't paying much attention..." He ran a hand through his hair, nerves shot. It was even worse talking about it! When it was all just an abstract fear in the back of his mind, he could ignore it. But now...

Rivener's smile widened. He squeezed the other's hand a little tighter, and lowered his head, looking at Roux with half-lidded eyes. He knew how this scene was supposed to go, in all the shows he had seen, even if he didn't understand what it meant. He leaned forward slightly and placed a hand on Roux's cheek, placing his lips lightly on the other Raevan's.

It was a blessing Chloe wasn't paying attention to the two Frei either, least she have a minor heart-attack.

She was completely focused on the other man, however, an expression of sympathy blatant. "O-Oh.. hm..." She paused, pressing her lips together in thought. "I d-don't think I'd put it past Dr. Kyou to do something like that... but if he chose you then he had his own reasons. Don't worry, Mr. Aphismet, I'm sure th-there was a good reason you were selected to raise a Raeven."

She hoped she was comforting enough, she wasn't really used to having to do things like this. "Are... do you have any other questions? Like.. about Raeven's in general? I could tell you much more about that..."

Roux wasn't sure if he wanted to feel rankled or curious. He wasn't very interested in the speaking box that Chloe called a TV so had no real idea of what this touching was. He kept their lips together for a while, the feel of someone else's lips against his was interesting to say the least... they were soft, and warm - pleasantly so.

He pulled back a bit after a while and licked his lips, looking back at the other with a slightly blank, vaugly curious expression. Hmm.. He leaned back in again after a moment's pause to press their lips together again experimentally, pulling back once more.

It definatly gave tingles to touch lips like that, he enjoyed it. "Delicious."

Rivener had been a little surprised to find Roux coming back for another kiss, seeing the expression the other boy had worn after the first one. His surprise quickly dissolved into pleasant contentment, however, as their lips met for the second time.

Roux's comment brought a grin to his lips. "Yes," he agreed, one hand still holding Roux's, and the other lightly running fingers through Roux's hair.

Rivener was at a slight loss, however. He rarely saw what happened after the kissing; the TV shows normally cut to something else then. For a moment he pondered in secret, examining the other Raevan's features quietly, that sultry smile still playing on his lips.

The kiss had felt really nice; no wonder humans did it so much. It was warm and comfortable, and Roux's lips, being slightly cold, added a touch of surprise to each kiss. Rivener wanted to do more of the kiss, but on TV they only kiss once or twice...

OH! No, wait! Rivener suddenly recalled something Aphismet had watched once, late at night. He had ordered Rivener to go to the kitchen area and keep his back turned, but Rivener had snuck a peek. He remembered seeing a different, deeper-looking kiss, and they were touching each other without clothes... Aph had caught him and stopped watching before Riv could see what happened next, though. Still, the deeper kiss thing must be nice!

Mimicking what he had seen on TV, Rivener freed his other hand from Roux's grasp and brought it to the side of the cold Raevan's face, pulling him lightly to Riv's lips. This time, unlike before, Riv opened his mouth slightly, and kissed. He did not know about the tongue thing, so there was none of that... Still, with what he knew, Rivener found this very much agreeable.

Aphismet was distraught. He sighed and smiled sheepishly at the girl. "I"m sorry to have put you on the spot... I just don't know what I'm doing, and I'd like to feel a little less disoriented. I'd really like to know more about them, if you can tell me anything at all, that would be great! I don't know what kind of questions I should be asking... Do you mean, like, what are they made of, and all that? Well, I already know what Rivener is made o- OH MY GOD!"

Aphismet had looked over at his Raevan as he reminisced about Cuddles the scorpion, but instead of a well-behaving Raevan, he saw Rivener molesting Roux!!

Aph stood up and rushed over, pulling Rivener off Roux physically, yelling: "What the hell are you doing?! Bad Rivener! Bad!!! Oh my god, I'm so sorry, Miss Chloe!" Aph was blushing deeply, ignoring Rivener's attempts to pry his fingers off his shoulder.
