I was just re-reading the first Red Dwarf book and realised that Lister was putting the robot back together again with a sonic screwdriver just thought I'd mention that.
Also, (I've said this in the Jack Hartness Thread too) that picture of Jack riding the bomb, to me is reminiscent of Dr. Strangelove, only not because Jack is nothing like Major Kong, but that's just what I think when I see that picture...
yea, anyone else do that? Or would like to tell me which screwdriver came first?

No idea about the Screwdrivers...
But there's been lots of quotes about other stuff, like H2G2 (Very Arthur Dent), and other popular culture in Doctor Who.
And then there's Bill and Ted - in a Phone Box that's smaller on the inside...

The wonderful TV show 'Heroes' referred to two Doctor Who things (well the fact that Christopher Eccleston is one of the actors I'm not counting)
His character, Claude, when we first meet him, he's yelling and ranting at this other character, Peter. One of the first things he says after he stops yelling is "Fantastic."
Later, Peter gets pushed off a 30 story building by Claude and yells at him afterwards and says "If I hadn't regenerated, I would have died!"
mrgreen mrgreen mrgreen mrgreen mrgreen
Next he should either see an old phone booth (that happens to be blue), or something say "exterminate!" or *something* happen!

The looney tunes movie Back in Action (I was watching it the other day) has daleks in it shouting 'Exterminate!' and a robot thing that looks strangely similar to a cyberman..

I was on an aeroplane a couple days ago and saw a guy who looked unbelievably similar to Ten. It was pretty odd. I couldn't stop looking at him, just because I kept expecting him to start doing something odd or whatever. Plus, I kept thinking that the next time I looked at him he'd stop looking so uncannily like Ten. He had the same spiky darkish-brown spiky hair, and he was wearing a pinstriped suit, similar face, skinny, youngish, fidgety.

xd Yup. I wonder if any of the UNC students would recognize him? (I took a tour of the place, but I can't go to any college where the Doctor could just waltz in unrecognized!) When I went to A Southern Season, they had about four varieties of edible ball bearings. Colourful pastel ones and everything!
But anyway, now I suppose he's somewhere in the vicinity of NYC.
Also, I just heard this song by Dashboard Confessional, and the chorus is mostly "You've stolen my heart," and, well, it was 11:30 PM or so, and I think the lead singer has to work on his diction or something, because every time the chorus rolled around it honestly sounded like he was saying "hearts". gonk

Once I saw Eccleston in 28 days later (first time I had seen it) and we were watching it in school and when I saw him I shouted "Holly s**t! It's Doctor Who!" And everyone looked at me like I was nuts. It was awsome!
Also, in City of Death, Monty Python's John Cleese was in the louve looking at the tardis as the doctor and romana entered, and disappeared. It was really quite funny.

I was reading a Star Wars book which mentioned "an old freighter from Gallofree...". I think the spelling's near enough that that was an intentional reference smile
