Remi yawned as she picked up the her very neglected telephone. She hadn't used this thing in weeks, but that's mostly because she didn't have anything to send to her editor yet. If she had, the thing would be ringing off the wall and people would be yelling at her.

Nevertheless, the phone would be used now. Gavin had nothing less than tackled Remi at seven in the morning, saying he wanted to play with Ina. Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she pulled out the stray piece of paper with Ari's phone number. It was early, but maybe she would be up.

The phone dialed and began to ring.

Ari was not an early riser. And since no little child had run into her room to wake her up yet, she was still laying in her bed. The blankets were pulled over her face to block out the sunlight and her pillow was pushed to the side slightly so she could curl up and keep warm. When the ring of the phone sounded in the distance she did nothing. She half heard it, but didn't even try to move to get it. Her mind wasn't even awake enough to think about it.

But luckily someone did answer. Gawain pushed himself from his seat on the couch and went into the kitchen to pick up the phone. Unlike Ari, the quiet boy always seemed to be up early. Perhaps it was because he was a gyrfalcon shifter. "Hello?" He asked politely, his voice going through the line and sounding very much like a child's.

That didn't sound like Ari. Not at all.

"Umm..." Remi hesitated. Did she dial the wrong number? "Uh, hello. Is Arianna there?"

She started to feel a bit silly, being reminded of her childhood days where she would dial her friends and ask if they were home to play. Fortunately, she had grown out of that. Now she was asking in place of her son.

Speaking of Gavin, he was currently running around the kitchen.

"Ina! Ina! Wanna see Ina!"

Remi used her hand to block her other ear so that she could hear better.

"She's sleeping," Gawain told her, his voice calm and without shame as if it were the most normal thing in the world. "I can wake her though," he added as he turned to take the cordless phone upstairs. He moved right to Ari's room, pushing the door open and going inside without so much as a knock. He knew it wouldn't wake her up. She could sleep through almost anything. Instead he pulled away all her covers with his free hand, hearing her groan. "Mom...someone's on the phone," He told her.

This and the covers got Ari to sit up quickly. Rubbing her eyes hurriedly she took the phone, her eyes still fuzzy from sleep. "H-hello?" She questioned, her voice still sounding a little off, but not unattentive.

Of course. What people wouldn't be sleeping at seven in the morning? Crazy people with toddlers, Remi guessed.

"Ari?" she said, noticing the half-awake tone the other woman on the phone had. "I'm really sorry to wake you so early but--"

"INA! Ina there?! Gavin wants to play!" Gavin's voice could be heard loud and clear through the other side of the phone.

"--Well, I guess that explains my phone call," Remi sighed, tired herself. "So, do you think it's possible if Gavin could come over to your place for the day?"

Ari blinked as she stared at nothing, making sense of the voices on the other end of the phoneline. Oh...it was Remi. And she could hear Gavin yelling in the background too, though his voice was more muffled then Remi's was. She stood up sluggishly, fighting off a yawn. "Have him come over...?" she murmured, sounding like she was asking herself and not the other woman on the phone, "Sure...I can...pick him up after I take a shower." Ari never did anything outside the house, really, before taking a shower. She wasn't the kind of person who could just get into clothes and go out and do something. It just...didn't make her comfortable. Plus it woke her up and right now she needed it.

"Thank you so much," Remi said, feeling a bit embarrassed realizing that she forgot to say who she was. "He's been bugging me all morning about seeing Ina. I thought I was going to go crazy."

"Yay! Ina! Ina! Ina!" Though Ari couldn't see, Gavin was running around in frantic circles. Remi rubbed her forehead.

"I guess I'll see you in a bit then?"

"Well, I'm glad he's so excited," Ari murmured, a small smile forming on her lips. "Yeah...I'll be over in a while," she said with a nod, though no one could see it. She then took the phone from her ear and pressed the large buttom on the right to shut it off. Setting it on her dresser she went and got some clothes before disappearing into the bathroom.

Gawain went to inform the purple wolf girl of what was happened. He peeked his head into her bedroom, where she was sitting playing with stuffed animals. "Ina...we're going to go get your friend soon," he informed her and that was all. He left with a soft shutting of the door.

Ina stared after him, "Fwiend?" Which one?! She bounced to her feet, knocking over a stuffed bunny and running to the door. Standing on her tiptoes she pushed it open and then hurried to the staircase. This was where she had to slow down. She fell onto her bum, careful of her tail, and slide down the stairs one at a time. At the bottom she got up and began to run, well a fast toddle, to the living room. "Where? Where?!" There was no one there but her big brother Gawain on the couch. Looking disappointed she went and pulled herself up to sit beside him.

Remi hung up the phone and then stared at her son, who had collapsed on his bottom in the middle of the kitchen floor. Gavin was breathing hard from all the running.

"...Ina...go see Ina?"

"In a bit," Remi smiled. "But first we need to get you cleaned up."

Gavin's eyes widened in horror. Bathtime was a night thing! Before he could bolt, Remi had already bent down and snagged him. Off to the bathtub they went, where there was much screaming and flinging of water and soap. Nevertheless, Gavin was clean by the time Ari came to pick him up.

Ari headed downstairs after her shower, her hair half dry and lacking the usual braids. She didn't feel she should waste the time trying to put it together right now-they were only driving a little ways away, after all. She found Ina and Gawain watching TV in the living room. Luca was still away with Nicki. Well, since she hadn't got any angry phonecalls from her friend she assumed Luca was behaving himself, at least somewhat.

"Ina, time to go get Gavin," she called, taking her keys off a small rack by the kitchen phone.

Inanna quickly jumped off the couch, racing over to Ari. She was dressed, strangely enough...perhaps Gawain had helped her. "Gavin?! Gavin come play~!" Ina squeeked in excitement, her tail thrashing this way and that. Yay~! A friend was coming to play at her house! Fun fun fun! She hurried out of the room, going into the garage all on her own with Ari trailing along not far behind. She let her mommy buckle her in the carseat, even though she hated the thing. She was too happy about Gavin to care!

Ari drove them to the compound after telling Gawain they'd be back in a little while. She pulled up in front of the large gates marking the entrance and put on the parking break. She glanced out the window, wondering if they were to go in to get him.

Remi was feeling charitable that morning. Knowing that Ari would obviously have to drive herself here so early in the morning, she thought she'd be nice and wait at the gate with a half-sulking, half-excited Gavin.

He was sulking because he had been bathed, his skin still slightly pink from the scrubbing. He'd have to jump in something icky to make himself feel better later. However, the fact that Ina was coming--was that her in the distance?--had him too excited and happy to be completely sulking.

Remi smiled when Ari pulled to a stop, waving to indicate that they were waiting there. Gavin blinked at the car. He'd never seen one of those before. Did you ride in it? He could just barely see Ina through the window, strapped in a seat. Would he have to be in one of those too? It looked restraining. He hated restraining things. Nevertheless, he ran over to Ina's window and started jumping up and down, waving.

"Ina!"

Ari smiled, seeing both Remi and Gavin just a few feet away. She unbuckled her car seat and pushed the door open, stepping out onto the sidewalk. "Hey Remi...and hello Gavin," she smiled, though she figured the second hafl of the greeting would be ignored. It looked like the boy was too excited to see Ina to bother with a boring adult. She didn't blame him.

Ina's ears twitched at the sound and she turned her head to look out the window. She smiled widly, squirming in her carseat and waving and pressing her hands to the window. There were sure to be handprints all over it afterwards. "GAVIN!" she yelled through the glass, her tail swishing about uncomfortably behind her. Gah, why did this seat have to be so tight anyway?!

"Hi," Remi smiled in greeting. "Again, I'm really sorry that you had to drive out all this way so early in the morning. Thank you."

People sure seemed to be doing lots of nice things for her lately. She mentally reminded herself...again...to start returning some favors. Next time she was going to be the one waking up early and picking up kids. Except that she didn't have a car, but that didn't matter right now.

"INA!" Gavin called back, flapping his wings excitedly. He poked the door. How was he supposed to get inside? He wanted to see Ina now, dangit! Stupid giant metal thing was in his way. "Want in!"

"It's alright. Ina will love having someone over for a change," Ari said with a small shrug, the friendly smile still in place. She looked down at Gavin, "Now Gavin, we need to go around the otherside, ok? We need to get you in your seat." She moved around to stand just off the sidewalk in front of the car, preparing the lead the little toddler around to the otherside. She was always careful putting kids in the side still open to the road, not that anyone was coming at the moment.

Gavin looked up toward Ina's mommee. Car seat? Was that what Ina was in? Curiousity overpowering his sense of impending doom and confinement in a myraid of seatbelts, he followed her to the other side of the car. For a moment he looked back at his Mommy, smiled and waved.

Remi smiled back, giving a little wave of her own. "Have fun Gavin. And don't destroy anything!"

Gavin giggled, which didn't make Remi feel any better, but there was nothing she could do about that now. She just hoped he didn't drive Ari nuts in the car.

Gavin climbed up into the car. "Ina!" he screamed for the fiftieth time that morning. He would have hugged her, but she seemed quite strapped down and unable to move. He'd have to wait until her mommy got her out.
