Full Name: Elshiva Raheel Spiderwick Nicknames: Ellie, ... Likes: Ivy, Leopold, locks, keys, drawing, stuffed animals, jewelry, music, ... Dislikes: water, pain, blood, daylight, ... Terrified of: water touching her head Abilities: the ability to see spirits, psychokinesis, ... Personality: Elshiva was previously brought up with the belief that children should be seen and not heard. She does not speak unless she feels it is very important. She grows attached to people and objects very slowly, careful in every way. She has an intense gaze with which to study strangers, and is often socially awkward. She prefers frilly, old-fashioned clothes to modern style and is often oddly attracted to the Victorian time period. Past: Elshiva was born into a moderately wealthy family and, being the youngest of 5 sisters, was often lavished with the finest clothing and toys. She loved her sisters, and she loved her parents, but above everyone else she placed her worn patchwork teddy bear, Leopold. The bear went everywhere with her, and she often spoke to him at night. Elshiva often confided in Leopold on the people that sometimes visited her at night...people who she said she could see right through. She never told anyone else for fear that they would be angry with her or call her foolish. In retrospect, she probably should have told her family when the transparent people started warning her about the rain. It was silly, Elshiva thought...being afraid of rain! She soon learned why, though. It rained for three days, nonstop. Mommy feared the apocalypse. Daddy said that it would stop soon...but it didn’t. One night, the rain got worse. The ground could hold no more water, and the roof over Elshiva's bedroom could support no more weight. The roof collapsed, sending a gush of water onto the poor little girl. She rushed down the stairs, the water growing higher and higher up her legs until she could go no further. She called for help, but nobody seemed to hear. Then there came another great rush of water. Leopold still clutched in her hands, Elshiva was washed down into the frigid water. Not knowing how to swim, she flailed helplessly, screaming for aid. The terrified little girl was pushed out into the completely submerged streets and mercifully unhurt by floating debris. As the water began to clear the next morning, one might have seen the body of a tiny pale girl floating belly-down near an odd set of train tracks. One might have even seen the little girl’s dress catch on a bit of metal. What one most certainly would not have seen, though, is a small group of transparent people ease the girl into the train car, nor would one have seen the train begin away...

Full name: Ivy-Rose Spiderwick Nicknames: Ivy, Rosie, ... Race: Sirenicircumundrydonidae (faerie hybrid) Height: 4' 10" Relation to Elshiva: mother Likes: Elshiva, Nate, nature as a whole, anything equine, ... Dislikes: ignorance, greed, mean people, being short, ... Terrified of: tight spaces Abilities: the ability to fly, the ability to flash her antennae bulbs, phosphorescence, ... Quirks: genderless, almost-black sap-like blood Personality: Ivy-Rose is generally a sweet and generous person to all she meets, unless they make a terrible first impression. She is not particularly cunning or intelligent, but she gets by rather well. She prefers to sew her own clothing and make her own household items, but has no real problem shopping. She loves to shower those she loves in gifts and is generally happiest outdoors during the nighttime. She celebrates May Eve (May 1st as a celebration of the beginning of spring), Midsummer Eve (June 24th as a celebration of the summer solstice), and November Eve (October 31st to celebrate the beginning of winter). She also constantly wears a sight stone (a perfectly circular, flat stone with a hole bored through the exact centre by a natural stream) around her neck, just in case someone cannot see into the faerie realm. Past: Ivy was genetically engineered in a lab owned by “Doctor” Sternwult in an attempt to make the perfect immortal lover. He believed Ivy to be female and forced her and the other humanoid faeries to work around his lab, while the animals were kept solitary. He did not know that Ivy’s pixie side caused her to be genderless unless she chose a gender herself (and she did not). Ivy was given one of “Doctor” Sternwult’s many copies of Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You, which he worked from, and began to study it, also adopting Arthur Spiderwick’s last name as her own. One night, a salamander was set loose and ran rampant. It lit fire to the lab, presumably killing the “doctor” and a great many experimentation subjects. Ivy and the others that were able to escape colonized the forest. Ivy took over ownership of the forest and hired a magician to create a portal from the back door of her small home, a mirage broken only when the back gate is opened and the forest is shown. Ivy was named after the first 2 plants seen to sprout from the floor around her cell, first thought to be creeping ivy and then shown to be an odd kind of ivy-borne rose. Ivy uses the exotic fruits grown naturally in the forest as a source of income and attempts to keep order within the woods. She is considered almost sacred by the beings in the forest due to her mixed nature and Treefolk side, and her hair and eyes vaguely resemble her bourne plant, the purple-and-orange butterfly bush.

This is Amelia, Elshiva's canary. Amelia is kept in a wire cage in Elshiva's room and was one of many "welcome home" gifts from Ivy.

The House: The house is a small European townhouse with 2 levels on the left and 3 on the right. All windows (and there are many) go from floor to ceiling, except in the bathroom. There is a low brick wall beginning at the back edges of the house and encompassing the back yard to meet at a large iron gate in the far back. You can usually find Ivy's powder blue pickup truck parked in the driveway, and the walkway is lined with beautiful, exotic flowers.
Upon entering the house, you find yourself in the dining room. There is a comparatively small table in the far right corner, draped with lace and surrounded by 3 chairs. To your left, a computer on a desk of pale green-stained wood. Directly in front of you, against the wall and to the left of the stairs, is a book case packed to exploding. Forward and to the right is a half-walled kitchen with white-painted bars. Within the kitchen is an oven, a counter taking over the left wall, a refrigerator, and a door leading to the back porch. If you walked to the left and behind the kitchen you would find yourself standing between a large flat-screen television on the right and a old-fashioned furniture in the form of a coffee table, chair, and couch. All of the first floor is painted an off-white with dark wood wainscotting.
Up on the second floor there are two rooms. The one immediately in front of you is Ivy's bedroom with a large oak dresser, mirror, and canopy bed. The wallpaper is floral and the rug is rough green. Down the short hall there is a pink-tiled bathroom with the usual furnishings. Back by the stairs, there is a ladder leading up to a trap door.
Up through the trap door is Elshiva's room. The wallpaper is elegant, old-fashioned gold with roses and the rug is deep burgundy. There is a small space almost completely cordoned off by a railing where she keeps her toychest and dollhouse. She has a chest of drawers against one wall, and her day bed against the other. There is a door leading to an outside porch between and beside the chest of drawers and her bed.
The back yard is lush grass with a single tree. There are posts nailed into the tree that act as stairs up into a white-painted treehouse. There is also a swing hanging from a sturdy branch. There is a much smaller version of a horse-drawn-carriage parked beside the house, carefully away from the many flowerbeds, and the gate in the far back is intricate black iron.
The Forest: The forest is only moderately-sized as forests go, but quite enormous compared to most mostly-faerie-inhabited lands. It is a wondrous place with oddly-coloured plants, glowing bushes, sentient trees, and many faeriefolk. Most of the creatures within the thick forest are harmless, but some are violent and mean-spirited. Fruits found nowhere else grow from many of the plants, and these are what Ivy picks to sell. There is a large pond in a clearing in the centre of the wood, and a dangerous marshland to the east.
