Well, I didn't see another topic like this so I hope I'm in the right place.
I was curious of what trading card video games everybody plays, and which ones are perferred.
I enjoy eternal duelist soul because its basically the game I learned to play on, but I hear some other ones have a lot more of a variety of strategies and cards, and I've been looking for a challenge. Which gameboy game based around the tcg do you reccomend and which startegies/combos do you enjoy using against different characters?

I really like Nightmare Troubadoor. Only YUU*GI*OU game for the DS, and there should really be more; YUU*GI*OU and DS were meant for eachother. I love playing with the touchscreen, plus NT was just the most fun I've played. I like World Wide Edition too, because it was the first YUU*GI*OU game I played that actually used the real-world rules. I usually end up playing with a defensive deck that has a lot of trap cards...

World Wide edition! I knew I was missing a couple really obvious ones on the poll, sorry. >.>;
I don't have a DS, but that sounds really fun! Is Nightmare Troubadoor one of those tricky lil' games where they try to sneak a plot or background into? Or is it all about the love of the duel?
Another Q. Do you ever modfiy your deck based on you're opponent just a little? ninja Once I've been playing for a while, I like putting in a lot of my opponents cards in my own deck, just because I find it strangely satisfying to beat characters with their own monsters. It brings me joy... I was wondering if anybody else actually does such things with their free-time. xd

Actually, they put a plot in Nightmare Troubadoor and actually did a pretty good job of it, surprisingly. Of course, it was just another Rare Hunters thing, but it was still pulled off better than in Sacred Cards and World Wide Edition. 3nodding As for modifying decks, the only time I ever do is when fighting Rishid; I put a lot of trap-deflecting cards in my deck. sweatdrop

Hm, well that does sound quite astounding. Now that the ds lite is out, the old ones might get cheaper so I'll consider saving up for one! Once again I buy a gaming platform to further my ygo obsession. ninja
Have you played the pc games? I had cash to spend, and just bought a cheap power of chaos:kaiba's revenge game on impulse last weekend. I think its really fun, but I'm kind of easy to please. I like pretty much anything where the characters actually talk. Its nice to hear a familiar old dub voice now that I'm too lazy to get up at 7 to watch repeats.
Anywho, the playing itself is kind of boring since you only have one opponent, but I still find it entertaining. I admit I want the other pc games now too. ^^

Actually, currently new DS's are $129.44 while new DS Lites are $129.88. (wtf?) So if you are getting one, I suggest getting the Lite. I'm selling my DS to my mom and buying a lite once she has the money to pay me. I'm only charging her $70 but with my savings I'll have enough once that's added. 3nodding I've never played the PC games, but I really wanna get the Joey the Passion one. (mainly to have pictures of him on my computer and to get that Red Eyes card... ninja )

KitsuneChan8888888 Actually, currently new DS's are $129.44 while new DS Lites are $129.88. Are you serious?! gonk I guess I'll be waiting a couple more years then. I definitely want the first one with yugi, but I don't know if I could handle the joey one... I might have to play it on mute. o_o; I'm already starting to get sick of listening to my game. If I have to hear "Prepare to feel the touch of cold steel" one more time I'm gonna have to smack a b***h. I do like getting the shiny cards though! Thats half the reason I buy games. If I can find it for cheap, I shall probably purchase all of them. (& yeah, wou'll probably get some cool screenshots from the game. Everything is so nicely colored and purdy. >.<)

Yeah, I heard that the characters talk constantly in those PC games. XD Other than Marik, I think Joey has the most annoying voice... and he's my favorite! gonk I'd probably end up turning the sound down as well.

I started watching the dub before the manga or japanese anime. Thats just always been his voice to me, so I don't mind it as much as I should. Though I don't know if I could handle it duel after duel after duel since I'm only used to it in 30 minute doses. >.>;
Marik's voice either makes me twitch or giggle. Given the oppurtunity, I don't think I would change it though. Its just so funny to see the marik fans complain.
One voice that really bothered me was mai's when her old voice-actor quit. That ruined the doma arc for me, but I digress.
I would like a game with each of them on it. Its generally a good time. especially hearing agonizing howls of defeat! They should start incorporating that into the gba games. 3nodding

I thought my ears were bleeding when I first heard Mai's new voice! gonk Anyway, I watched the dub first as well, but once I purchased the Japanese episodes I hardly ever watch the dub at all. Really, I'm not a dubby so I couldn't handle dub YUU*GI*OU for long without seeing it in Japanese. I've watched much more of the episodes in Japanese than in English by now, so their voices to me are their Japanese voices, especially Jounouchi since he's my favorite.

I try to watch what I can find of the original version, but thats not much. I'd like to buy it all eventually, but I'll have to wait until I can work. I'm not good at saving up my holiday/birthday funds. sweatdrop
I think I can only recognize pharaoh, bakura, kaiba, and dartz's voice. o.o
Going back to the topic, I like video games where you don't have to use polymerization! xd I thought forbidden memories was really fun just for doing that.

I've never played any Yuugiou games. Actually, that's a lie. I've played on on my PC, but I don't really remember what it was called.
All the videogames look like so much fun, I'd love to try a few.

I think all together it was only about $250 for me. Though I purchased them gradually because when I first started buying not all were out yet. I'm pretty sure my first purchase was the first 130 or so episodes for about $130. Aaanyway, I've never played a game where you didn't have to use Poly, but that's pretty cool. 3nodding

Yeah, but it was fun while it was still the free testing period! I got so sad when I read the interviews shonen jump did when they visited the chatrooms there though! The people they talk to are all so uninteresting... probably because they're all 9! xd But still, my secret wish was to get myself in sj by just hangin in the chatrooms all day!
Non poly games are fun! But I think the only ones where it was actual dueling were forbidden memories and that x box one... errrr, dawn of destiny? Anyway, itscool, because all you have to do is chose the monsters you want to fuse from your hand, and the rules are kind of different. You make things based on their type rather than their specific name.
ex: fire monster + 4 star warrior=flame swordsman in those types of games.
Its fun to see what you can make! Really saves your butt sometimes, when you make a last-minute desperate combo of cards, and it actually makes something powerful! Adds to the thrill. =D
$230 isn't bad. I could probably have that much by christmas!
