I was wondering how many people in this here lovely guild scry or are interested in learning more about scrying.
This is a place to discuss the different methods of scrying and to tell others of your scrying experiences.
Edit: If you have any questions about scrying, please ask them here.

I've only tried scrying twice; both times with a bowl of water.
The first time wasn't at all successful because I couldn't keep my mind clear and I was nervous.
The second time was slightly more successful. I was more relaxed. The water actually started to get all smokey. I just couldn't keep my gaze long enough to see any images.
I've only tried scrying with water because that's the element that I have the strongest tie to, but I would eventually like to learn how to scry with other things.

My element is also water, but I have the strongest tie to ice. Is it possible to scry with ice?
I've also scryed before in a fire pit, and it worked really well.

I'm not sure if you can scry with ice. I'll have to do some research. I'll let you know if I find anything.

I have only tired to it once. I was taking a bath when I thought I would try it. I almost saw something when a Two year old bugged me. It is hard for me to do it untill she gets older.

ok, I am most definatly capable of scrying. There is some scary stuff in that bowl of water, maybe it will be clearer if I use ice...

So, I asked some people if it's possible to scry with ice. Here's an answer from one of them:
"Ice. Well, to my knowledge: of course you can! I know that you get better results if you scry with your element. Ice is water, so if you're a water element it would be quite effective I imagine. Plus, it's a smooth shiny surface.. Thing is, you'd have to watch out for distracting reflections.
Other than that, yes. It would be good. ^^ Just watch out if it was about to melt.."
So, yes, it's possible to scry with ice.

I think I'm going to try scrying with ice tomorrow as well. Hopefully I'll get something out of it!

xd You can scry and read just about anything. Dirt, ashes, pig intestines.
Ice sounds very interesting. I might try that. But not now, because of the weather (90 degrees on average during the day and 80 at night. That's not ok for Seattle!! crying ), the ice would probably turn to water before I either got to it or while I was trying to do it. sad I hate this heat *whine*

Try living in Florida it's usually like 96 degrees during the day. I'm not sure about at night. But it's always really humid at night and in the morning and that's worse than the heat.

I remember going to California when I was five and couldn't stand it very well. I really get bitchy when I get too hot. Of course I also tend to get upset when it's too cold... I'm just picky about temp. xp Yep. I think that you can scry into just about anything. What I used to do when I was much younger was take a book, open up a page, blurr my vision and see what shapes the text would make. It was fun. Maybe I could use it for divination. I know that there's a type of divination where you open up a book (normally a bible or dictionary), point to a word at random, and interpret it. I think it's called Bibliomancy. Divination can be fun, scary, insightful, and inventive, methinks 3nodding I wonder how well one could scry by looking "into" a pair of blue jeans?

So, yesterday someone asked me 2 questions about scrying. What is scrying? And how do you do it?
"What is scrying?" Scrying is a form of divination. While scrying, the individual is able to "see" images or gain information about a specific person, place, or object.
"How do you do you scry?" There are many different things that you can use to scry. Pretty much any reflective source will work. But, like Bavi said, you can pretty much scry into just about anything. The most commonly used items are crystal balls, bowls of water, fire, and mirrors.
It's best to scry at night when it's nice and quiet and dark. So, you should do it in the dark, using a candle or two for light. I usually do it at sunset when there's still a little bit of light outside (I'm not allowed to have candles in my room). You should do it when everyone's out of the house or when they're all asleep because you will need as much concentration as you can get.
This is what I usually do: I lay a bunch of black fabric out on my floor so that I won't be distracted by anything.
I cast my Circle as I normally would. It's recommended to cast your Circle while your still learning how to scry, but it isn't necessary.
I sit down in the Circle with a bowl of water (you can add blue food coloring if you think it would help you any). You should use a glass bowl or something of that nature. I personally use a metallic bowl.
I then meditate for a few minutes until I'm totally relaxed and my mind is clear.
Then I look into the bowl of water (don't strain your eyes, you can blink like your normally would) while chanting (you shouldn't do this for much more than 10 minutes):
"Sparkle, shimmer. Mind grows dimmer. The Second Sight is brought to light."
The chanting will help you to keep your mind clear.
After a while the water should appear to get smokey. Just keep gazing into the bowl of water, the smoke should eventually clear and you'll be able to see an image.
I can't tell you what those images would look like, because I haven't yet been able to get pass the water getting smokey. Be patient, for most people it will take a lot of practice before they'll be able to scry successfully, so don't be discouraged if you don't get something your first time.
To the person who asked me these questions (I won't say who it was because I don't know if they'd be ok with it): I hope I answered your questions. If you need anymore help you can ask more questions in this thread or you can pm me if you're uncomfortable with it or something.

its 114 where I live, and as long as I'm holding the bowl, the ice doesn't melt.

Would somebody mind explaining to me what I might be expecting to see while scrying, like what the images might look like and all that kinda stuff?
