I agree Kasumi made me fall in love with the game. Well, it was more the fighting system with the fluid movement whether you were a newbie to the game or a master. Most other fighting games require specific button combinations. DOA simplified it and said anything can be a combo, but different combos will affect the situation differently.

I at first was not into the game actually, I played the first DOA when it came out nearly a decade and lifetime for me ago. I thought it was shallow and was just a Japanese man's fantasy and the breast bouncing was just too much for me. Years later when I got the Xbox and made the switch I saw the DOA3 game on sale for twenty dollars at the Wal-Mart and said "what the heck", and then bought it. I immediately disliked the game because the first character I picked up was Zack because I had always had a taste for thai boxing (I took a class on it not long ago to satisfy my insatiable curiosity) and he would be easy to use. But winning with him made me feel cheap so I dropped Zack and picked up someone else, It was Jann Lee. Now there was a fighter that would whoop some serious hide. But after a while I got bored doing the same combos to defeat my enemie's, both com's and players. It was then that I dicovered this awesome, tanned, arabic behemoth of a man that was named Leon. He was always fun to use because I would love to break my enemie's necks and kill them. twisted Pretty soon the tag matches came up and I knew I needed a partner for him. Who better than an adorable, yet sexy little ninja named Ayane. They instantly became my butt-kicking couple as Ayane's speed and Leon's strength proved unstoppable. If my enemy was fast, tag Ayane, if he was tough, tag Leon, that became the death sequence that my opponents had to suffer from. Those were the characters that got me into the game at first. Now it is Hayabusa and Kasumi even though a newb could beat me if I use Hayabusa, I still love to play as him because of Ninja Gaiden and his moves are super flashy. The other things I liked were the multi tiered stages. Unlike other fighting games in which falling out of the ring spells a quick and cheap defeat, in this game it rewards the player with a new background and punishes the victim with some damage. These are the things that got me into the DOA universe. Oh yeah and the panty shots helped a little I guess. biggrin

Ayane clearly rocks 3nodding W00T! ANOTHER ONE FOR AYANE scream heart Fer me, it was the fighting engine. It wasn't as deep and complicated as the other games like "Marvel vs. Capcom" where you have to do like 20 million movements for a 16 hit combo @_@

I think that I like DOA for all the opposite reasons that you all like it for... and maybe you're all going to jump for what I'm about to say... I like it because it's a fighting game that I don't have to think about to play (Tekken, VF4, MKDA, SF all require at least some sort of thought and strategy) sweatdrop . I mean I only play it when I don't have much interest in playing a hardcore game. 3nodding
