I was just wondering, has anyone else made and alphabet or syllabry besides me and Forgedawn? I think that's one of the most fun parts of making your own languages. I'm making a syllabry as soon as I find my sharpies that borrows all the sounds of Japanese with a few extra added. But the characters are going to be alot different. I was also thinking of somthing like kanji and hangeul, but i'm not sure about that just yet.

I'd like to see what everyone's alphabets/syllabries look like and compare them to others we have all seen (or haven't seen yet).

I'll post mine as soon as I can.

I've only made about NINETY of them. xD

I have writing systems for any and all of Aquenandi's twenty-something dialects. I have writing systems for the obsolete Aquenandi roots, which are the roots for all of the more modern dialectical systems. There's a common system as well. xd

Wow...that's a lot. I haven't gotten even close to dialects yet. I hope I'll get that far and not give up like I do everything else. (Except language and music xd )

xD It's fairly psychotic, especially when you come to the shocking realisation that all of the writing systems are interrelated.

The Korean writing system is called Hangeul. 3nodding

Myt friend and I tried to come up with our own writing system, just to send notes during class and so, but we never managed to learn reading it. >.< So if I'm gonna make my own conlang, it'll probably be written with Roman letters. smile

The key to learning a new writing system is to start with one native to you and slowly start changing the letters to what you intend. I did that while learning Russian, and now I can read it as fast as Roman lettering.

more times than I can count D;

i remember trying to make a aplhabet to phonetically pronounce a word,

there would be starting symbols/sounds middle symbols/sounds and ending symbols/sounds but it just got too much D:

I can actually read kana better than I can read the Japanese words in roumaji. xd

I need to redo mine, it takes forever to write because it's too uniform.

I wrote the letters in the alphabet file, started to make a font, never finisehd (program's probalby expired now), and then copied and pasted for the sentences in my teaching page.

#1 way to fix difficulty in writing: write a lot.

If you made the alphabet, it's ok if you change the letters in the process biggrin

I came up with an alphabet for one of my languages, Yoa, but unfortunately I only recorded it in a little pocket notebook, and now I can't find that notebook, and I don't remember all the letters. gonk

It was a cool writing system, too. It was essentially an alphabet, only instead of writing two or three vowels in a row for dipthongs (which occur a LOT in Yoa), I had them written as one vowel with an added marking to show the vowel is "modified".

I'm always typing when I'm working on it, so I tend to stick to symbols that Notepad can handle.

However, in handwriting, I did think of having a single accent stretched across diphthongs*, which is about the closest I've come to inventing anything new.

* (In my one, diphthongs can only be formed from two long vowels, and long vowels are marked by acute accents. So I figured that'd help cut down on the amount of accents to draw.)

I've αctually found α whole ton of letters on MSWord thαt look like letters from my writing systems. The problem is putting the vowels in place. D;

You see, the vowels αre diacritics. I cαn't remember the proper term αt the moment. D;

With some of the letters thαt I steαl from Arαbic, I cαn wing it. But the others...?

One of my scripts is fαirly eαsy to portrαy, though, becαuse it αctuαlly hαs α lot tαken from Romαn lettering. xD
