I was just thinking about a Furries game, then my good friend, Unwanted Poster, posted the Furries racial stats below (used with permission) and I started thinking that they might work well in a BESM game.

Anyways, I just thought I'd post the list here for discussion and to see if anyone would be interested.

Furries Races

Most races are devided into three catagorys. Small, Medium and Large. This is more to reflect the base species than the anthro versons. None of the Large races activly grants large size (although some grant 'Powerful Build', Only a few of the small species grant small size. In most cases the different sizes grant different stat modifiers and racial abilities.

Unless otherwise noted, all races have the following abilities:

Medium Size - 0
Base Land Speed: 30ft - 0
Favoured Class: Any. - 1

Apes

- +2 Con (1 CP), -2 Dex (-1 CP) For Apes. Large apes gain +2 Str (1CP) -2 Dex (-1CP). Apes are hardy, but not as agile as most of their fellows
- Skilful. Apes gain +4 Skill points at 1st level (1CP), and +1 Skill point at every other level. (2CP)

checks in areas where she can spread her wings. They may also glide 20 feet forward for every 5 feet of decent. An Avian rendered unconscious while airborne automatically unfurls her wings, so falling Avians only ever suffer 1D6 of falling damage, regardless of the distance fallen. When a Medium or Small built Avian reaches 5 HD, she gains a fly speed of 40ft. Which they can only keep up for a number of rounds equal to her Con Modifier (Minimum 1) Small Avians have good Manoeuvrability, Average manoeuvrability for average Avians . Large Avians cannot fly fully until they have reached 6 HD, they have Poor Manoeuvrability. At 10 HD flight requires no more effort than walking or running. Small Avians must be un armoured and only carry a light load to fly. Medium Avians may carry up to a medium load. Large Avians may carry up to a heavy load. (2 CP)

I'd love some input on this idea if anyone's interested. Right now I'm trying to decide between medieval and future settings. I'd also love any input on the races.

If I were to join, I'd say sci-fi. To me, fantasy furries are tired, old beaten things.

I'm surprised draconic ones weren't up there.
PostPosted: Sat Jul 22, 2006 12:43 pm

Well, most Dragons aren't very furry xd I just didn't make up a listing for any Draconic races because I was focusing on the regular Furry types I am used to seeing. If anyone wants to suggest a Dragon based Furry race I'd be happy to check it out.

I think I'm going to do some massive edits to the races up there to fit into BESM D20 a little better, but I wanted to get the idea out there and see if there's a point in putting work into it.

How much do they cost, and can I be a Half Orc if I want? I would much prefer that if possible...

I'm going to update that list to be a D20 BESM races list with Attrib/Defects and costs. Furries basically means that the entire world is populated by hybrid animal-humans, and regular races such as Orcs, Elves and Humans do not exist.

Only characters with anthropomorphic or zoomorphic characteristics would fit into a Furries game.

Some links for examples of Furry worlds:

Oh contrare! The orc is actually based of of a boar, but has different variants according to tribe... You should read the monster manual more often, that's why I was asking to be an Orc or half orc... They have Porcine features a jutting jaw and long tusks... They resemble a barbaric humanoid... Is this a good enough explaination or should I not clutter this any more than I already have?
I know what you mean though, I've just been into the orc facade for so long, that they're usually all I play as...

But I have a better Porcine race already listed, but an Orc might be workable as a variant of that race. A half-orc still wouldn't work, because what would the other half be?

Cat girl? just kidding!
Orc will do fine by me... +4str, -2Int, -2wis, -2cha, Darkvision, Light Sensitivity,
Race Cost=-7
Am I good or am I good? I had it all figured out if you let me be an orc.

Sorry Blood, a bit of confusion. You want me to take a whack at converting those Furry races in the initial post to BESM or generate some of my own? Do you want to keep the base animal sizes or bring everything to a Medium size as your friend suggest.

Since we're on the topic of Orcs / Half-orcs/ Boars I'll do that one.

(I'm using the MM Animal entry for the Boar as the base work)
MM Boar stats:
Str 15, Dex 10, Con 17, Int 2, Wis 13, Cha 4
Translates to racial modifiers of
Str +4, Con +6, Int -8, Wis +2, Cha -6
I can throw the Int mod out right now as all animals have an Int of 2 or 1. In I quick canvise of animal in the MM I'm seeing most animal Wis scores as being around 12, with some exceptions up and down. This makes me want to use 12 as the base and modify from there. Cha is far more varied with the Badger hitting a Cha of 10 and seeing it go as slow as 2, an average value of 6 seems to be on par with animal entries so I'll use that.

After all that I get to this for a Boar Furry's racial stats:
Str +4, Con +6, Int +0, Wis +0, Cha -2 Net CP cost: 4

Now to consider the additional abilities:
Low-light vision (1 CP), Scent(1 CP), and a Natural Weapons:Tusk (1 CP), and Ferocity(Inappropriate)

So at a cost of 2 CP to the player:

*Revised*
d20 BESM Race, Boar(Furry)
Str +4 [2 CP]
Con +6 [3 CP]
Cha -2 [1 BP]
Heightened Senses(Low-light vision, Scent) [2 CP]
Natural Weapon 1 Rank (Tusks, 1d cool [1 CP]

Total Value: 7
Final Cost: 1
*-----*

Not bad, I'd even say worthy of LA +1 if this wasn't BESM. Charisma is not necessarily indicate ugly or attractive appearance but more relates to force of personality, especially in BESM. Boars, as race, are extremely hardy but not overly assertive.

Looks good, thanks. I've pretty much got the coversion finished. I'll change the post so the races are BESM D20 compatible with Attributes/Costs. I am trying to keep all the races on the low end of LA +1, since this is a BESM game this would only mean the races cost a few points more than Human.

So far I've got 1 vote for Sci-fi Furries, 0 votes for Redwall or D&D type Furries. 4laugh

BESM skews the power scale so things that would normally look like they should have LA don't. The advantage of point buy. In BESM a race with a LA of +1 would have a total value of 16 CP and a final cost of 10.

(For the "Dragon" player)
*
d20 BESM Race, Constrictor Snake; Medium Humanoid(Furry, Reptilian)
Str +6 [3 CP]
Dex +6 [3 CP]
Con +2 [1 CP]
Int -2 [1 BP]
Cha -4 [2 BP]
+2 Hide [.5 CP]
+2 Listen [.5 CP]
+2 Spot [.5 CP]
+4 Climb [1 CP]
+4 Balance [1 CP]
+2 Swim [.5 CP]
Heighten Senses(Scent) [1 CP]

Total Value: 9
Final Cost: 3

Normally passive, Constrictors number among the largest Furries. Their natural strength and skills make them born athletes, especially swimmers, mountain climbers and wrestlers, although as a spices they rarely have the drive to compete professionally. Most Constrictors favor grappling over other forms of combat.

(One of those passive massive races :3. Forget Auren, I want to play a Constrictor now.)
