Ameya grew up as an only child, and when he was young, his parents gave him Luka, a pet cat, to keep him company while they were away at work. Immediately creating a tight bond, Ameya came to see Luka more as a brother than a pet. However, after college, Ameya was caught up in his prolific art career, leaving his "brother" behind. It was Luka's sudden tragic death that brought Ameya back home, only to plunge him into a state of despair, withdrawing from the art world.

Our story starts when Miss Chacha, Ameya's agent, visits his studio and proposes having an Art Gala featuring his work and officially bringing him back into the art world in a big way. Feeling that he lacks the necessary confidence and inspiration, Ameya refuses and an argument erupts between them. Frustrated, Ameya finds himself walking in the pouring rain, whereupon he finds a drenched stray cat shivering under a park bench. What follows after Loki's arrival, along with much support and encouragement by Miss Chacha, are a series of often-colorful events.

From vet visits, sunbeam snoozing/daydreaming, fishing, dust-bunny and bird chasing, to falling in love, first dates, car trips and the grand finale of the Art Gala, Ameya and Loki's growing bond is continually tested and strengthened. What complicates matters is that Ameya begins to personify Loki and see him as a human, not a cat. While this does help to inspire his art again (and get people interested in his new works), it does cause a fair amount of chaos and the occasional questioning of Ameya's mental stability.

However, it is through this somewhat unorthodox relationship that Ameya regains the love and inspiration he thought he had lost. The bond between owner and pet is an interesting and complicated one, and it is explored fully as Ameya begins to leave his self-imposed isolation and Loki learns to trust and love again, through the comfort and stability of his new home.
