Re-doing.

U'yosi G'vhi sighed, looking around for Asa'nunu. When he failed to see her, he mused that she must be elsewhere, but she was always well able to take care of herself. He sat under his accustomed tree, one large paw folded over, and realised that he did not know where his offspring were. His eyes softened slightly with both anxiousness and pride as he slowly got to his feet. Those two. The new ones, born of this strange land they had come to. His son, Asegi Waya, pure white, eager to please and becoming stronger every day. And Tsi'lihu Waya, his likewise cloud-marked daughter, the tattoos shining on her pale coat, her brother's younger and sidekick , though it was she who was the hope of the once great and powerful clan he had mated into. U'yosi tossed his shaggy head a little, eyes deep in thought, and began to pad slowly off into the heat of the sun to look for them.

A calm breeze ruffled and shook the leaves that provided a canopy for the large beast. The sound made his oval-shaped ears flicker. He took a moment to carefully sniff the air with his acute sense of smell, before he returned to his relaxed state. Nope, no predators he needed to be worried about. While he wasn’t afraid of any predators – his skin looked as though it was armor-plated – the fact that he was shortsighted didn’t help the matter. Anything frightening that came his way and he was on a stampede, charging in the direction where he could hear and smell the so-called ‘danger.’ There was nothing there now. He would listen again if he heard anything. Starting again to grind the mouthful of grass that he had stopped chewing moments ago, he ignored the sound of rustling leaves when the wind blew again. The day was nice. So far, it was not too cold, yet not too hot either, which suited his needs just fine. Hot sun meant more pests, which the two-toed mammal strongly disliked. They always annoyed his sensitive ears. Had his eyesight been even remotely better than it was now, he may have seen the clouds that floated almost lethargically by, their fluffy masses unable to fully cover the sun. No, the sun would remain until night, when it would become cold again. Sigh. Bending is great head to the savannah grass in which he stood, he took a chunk in between his flat, herbivore teeth, munching slowly. Chew, chew, swallow. Grab, munch, munch. Chew, chew, swallow. And so the normal grass-eater cycle continued, without so much as a thought. It was almost natural. One of his large ears twitched, irritated by the insects that had decided to land there and tickle the fine hairs inside. Bugs were so annoying. Turning his pale gray head towards the tree under which he was standing, he began to rub the first of his two horns against it. After all, he needed to keep them sharp in case he needed to fight off a predator of some kind. Once his near-sighted eyes had determined his weapon conditioned enough in case something decided to jump out at him, he went back to grazing, his long neck allowing for him to eat without strain. His head was a tad large, after all. For all who could not recognize the signs, Kifaru was a rhinoceros. A white rhinoceros if you wanted to be precise. True, he wasn’t white at all, but that was just the name that the humans gave his species. He had no say in that. Stopping his munching, his ears pick up the sound of approaching feet. Or should I say, paws. The rhino’s ears flipped forward, turning his head in the direction in which he could both smell and hear a lion. Kifaru snorted, thudding his foot against the ground as a warning. He didn’t much like lions, however this one was alone and didn’t seem like much of a threat. However, one could never be sure. Breathing harshly through his flared nostrils, he kept his near-sighted eyes in the direction of U'yosi G'vhi. Waiting for the lion’s next move, he continued to chew the grass in his mouth, letting his sheer height and mass be enough to at least keep the predator away.

Asa'nunu was in fact elsewhere, she was padding down along the edge of the Amanzim'tsetse, just far enough from the bank to not be in immediate danger of being snatched up by a hungry gator. Her paws did this subconsiously, as her mind was other places. The breeze slid along her smooth fur and she jerked her head up, as if waking from a reverie.

She'd been thinking of her mother and the clan again. It was hard to pull herself from her grieving, and many times she just stayed within its cold embrace. An absent thought entered her head, one of her mate. The young lion had not seen U'yosi in quite a while, and it worried her. For about a heartbeat, and then she went on to thinking of other things.

He didn't realize Asa'nunu just wanted to be left alone to grieve. But even the adu'ladi knew that wasn't possible. But they deserved her grief! She growled lowly at the ground before her, plopping her rear end onto the grasses beneth her. This way she was torn between her clan already gone, and the clan that still needed her.

"I miss you, mother," she whispered, drawing a paw down to the ground and suddenly ripping at the grass there. It wasn't fair, none of it was, but what could Asa'nunu do? Her heart still ached, as if it had been ripped out only with the rising of the sun. Curling up into a small ball, she dozed, half-closed eyes focusing on the fluffy snow-white clouds above her. Sleep was one of the few times she could rid herself of her hurting.

U'yosi's mind was deep in worried thought, but thatdid notstop him noticing the large preybeast under the far-off tree. A swift calculation revealed that he could do nothing against such a formidable opponent, and he yawned casually in it's direction, as if he was not bothered.
"Asegi. Tsi'lihu," he called as softly as he could in his deep voice. Hestopped himself from calling after Asa'nunu; he knew, even if it grieved him to know, that she was a distant soul, and would probably not appreciate her mate calling after her. So he stuck to his task, a small part of him wishing that it was different, and kept walking, casting his head about for the familiar scents.

Rather small white paws trodded down on the reddish brown dirt, the cub left small foot prints as he went. His ears rose a little and listened around for any signs of his family, he had brought a great gift for his mother. boy oh boy was she gonna be proud of him! The limp tail of a small field mouse hung from his maw. He trotted along happily, looking some what like serpent, sticking its tounge out. In the distance he saw a figure, it was a lion alright, hopefully his mother so he could show her what he had caught. He advanced into a quick jog, grinning madly. As he got closer he saw that it was infact, not his mother. His spirits fell and his jog slowed to a walk and he slowly trodded over to the lion that was his father. His ears picked up the lion calling his name, along with his sisters, Asegi shrugged, maybe he wanted something. His mind then wandered to the where abouts of his sister, he hadn't seen her in a while. He shook his head to clear the thoughts as he stepped up near his father and looked up, tumbling the mouse around in his mouth as he spoke,

"Heyyy Dad, whass goin' on?"

His speech wasn't all too garbled, he had some practice with talking with his mouth full in the past. He grinned up at his father and waited for his respnse, maybe he knew where mom was...

U'yosi smiled at his little cloud-marked son as the latter came trotting up to him. "Why, Asegi, what a prize you have there. Did you catch it yourself, or did Tsi'hilu have to help you?" He teased lightly, still surreptiously casting round for sight of his daughter or mate. "I bet your mother would be impressed with that..." His confident words belied the somewhat hollow feeling that perhaps distant Asa'nunu would not be so interested. But he smiled anyway.

The white lion beamed, mom was gonna love her gift, now that he had his father's assurance, he knew she would, mom and dad knew each other best! He grinned and carefully spit the mouse out near a small collecton of rocks. The dead critter tumbled and collected some dirt but Asegi didn't care, he'd lick it off later. He pounced over to his dad and growled playfully,

"No way! I caught it all by myself! I don't even know where Tsi'hilu is.... Have you seen mom around?"

He tilted his head with his question, surely dad would know, he knew every thing!

Asa'nunu jumped awake, whirling upon hearing voices. Her ears twitched as she caught the sound, and the white lioness sighed softly. U'yosi and Asegi. They weren't injured, which was all she cared about at the moment, and if she was careful, perhaps she could sneak away and find the rest of her threadbare clan. Though she was still grieving, Asa'nunu had a duty to protect what was left of her clan. She had not seen Tsi'lihu as of late, and the little cub was the only one of her clan who left her alone. Asa'nunu appreciated that.

Did the young lioness even think of the cubs as her children anymore? She shook her head, padding down the few steps it took to come to shore. Lapping up the water, blue eyes watching cautiously for predators, her tail whisked back and forth behind her. For a moment, the clan she'd lost was forgotten in the watch for predators. If she was killed, what would the remnants of her family do?

U'yosi twitched a thick furred ear as a sound echoed from the river. Turning his head slightly, he frowned in case some alligator or other had crawled from the waters, to attack him and his little son. Mane bristling slightly, he caught sight of a patch of white fur, and a slinking figure larger than that of his absent daughter.
"Asa'nunu..." He said under his breath. She was avoiding him again, he realised with a resigned sigh and bitter smile. However, he determined that Asegi should not be put off by this. "I think your mother may appreciate your gift," he encouraged his son. He himself may not be in his mate's favour, but perhaps one who held the hopeof making the Wolf Clan strong again might.

Asegi followed his fathers sight over to the river, where a promising figure stood. He grinned wildly, there she was! His mom! He smiled up at his father and nodded a good-bye for the moment. He pranced to where he had left his mouse and grabbed it by the tail, letting the small mouse dangle from his maw. He held his head high and trotted to her in a hurried pace. He crept up behind her and sat down, setting the mouse down in front of him as well, he looked up at her with loving eyes,

"Mother! Look what I got!"

Tsi'lihu, padded along the ground rather lazily, or rather... in a way that would have reminded others of something that was trying to make herself seem unnoticed; her head was held low, her lithe frame moving in slow soft motions, never once making any sudden movements. It was something she had come to do as of lately... if others did not notice her presence, she wasn't forced to interact with them. However though, this did not mean the small white cub was antisocial; not at all, it was more of a shyness she couldn't quite brush away... others intimidated her, and when she was intimidated she found it imposible to talk, clamming herself up inside her own mind.

Her ears twitched lightly before they perked upon hearing her father's call. She never once wondered what he wanted, she never once wondered why he had called, she simplt speed up to a light trot, reaching the river banks just as her brother troted up to their mother. Tilting her head to one side, she decided against going over, and instead padded over to U'yosi, letting out a soft purr as she passed under him for all greetting, then she simply lay down, never once opening her maw to talk, eyes drifting up to watch her father, a soft barely noticeable smile touching her lips.

U'yosi laid his dark muzzle briefly on his daughter's pale shoulder. "There is nothing important, Tsi'lihu," he said, wanting to fill the silence with talk. "I just wondered where you had got to. It would not do for our clan, however small, to become seperated." His eyes faded their smile as his gaze drifted towards Asa'nunu and Asegi, and he shook himself briskly, also shaking off any feelings. "Well.Your brother has caught himself a rodent preybeast. And what have you been up to today?" He smiled warmly at her, padding over to the shade of some scrubby brush to wait for his mate. He needed to talk to her, but when Asegi was finished. Instead he could devote some attention to his daughter.

Instantly her ears flattened against the soft furr of her head as she pondered. What HAD she been doing today? Walking... mainly walking. And thinking. And daydreaming; she did it a lot... afterall, when she withdrew into her own fantasy world, everything was perfect, no one ever suffered. Tsi'lihu opened her mouth to say something, then suddenly shut them again, frowning, almost as if pondering exactly what she should say, and how.

Talking was such a terribly difficult bussiness. She wasn't always able to express what she thought in words, they didn't come out sounding the same as she thought it would, but she tried anyhow, "Thinking..." her voice was soft, almost musical, however, it was clearly unused. She smiled softly at the larger lion, her ears perking up, a hint of pride within the gleam of her emerald eyes before she trotted after him, "Think lots, about many things... I dream." this said, she fell silent, turning her head to eye both her mother and brother, a distant longing in her features.

Ina'li blinked drearily, he lifted his head slowly. His vision was blurred, but after a few more blinks it was clear again. The breeze blew softly and his mane flowed in the wind. He took a deep breath, the fresh air was really calming. Ina'li stood to his feet, he had been sleeping on a large stone looking over a hillside. He paced on top of it, and then jumped to the ground. The dirt was hard and dry, and he was thirsty. His eyes moved from side to side, examining the plains. He growled lightly and moved off into the grass in search of water.
