Gavin really couldn't explain why he was wandering outside, at night, and completely across the compound to Haki's building. He had gotten a sudden urge to do something exciting. And exciting involved a bunch of items for some reason he also couldn't explain.
First on his list-of-unexplainable-things was money. Well, that was easy. Why else would he be toddling over to Haki's this late at night?
After all those stairs again, he reached the door. Using his full body weight, he slammed his tiny arm against it hoping Haki was home.

Haki didn't hear the noise. Not really. But she was out on the couch (the monsters under her bed wouldn't leave her alone, dumbasses. You would think they would know better than to attack their future queen? She'd show THEM. Later.) trying to sleep some of the night away, with her pretty lace blanky thing to keep her from the cold.
She didn't hear the noise, but the camera on the door lit on, and through the sudden glare of light, she saw the little form standing there. It wasn't too hard- color made up for a lot of things, and there was no way she would have missed that brightly colored boy.
She'd seen him naked, of course. So how could she forget?
"'avin?" she frowned, rubbing her eyes as she got up, blanket trailing behind her like a train as she voice activated the door. "Open."
Open sesame. It swung open.

Woah. Haki had a magic door! Gavin watched wide eyed as it opened all by itself. He flashed a toothy grin when he could see her in the doorway.
"Haki!" he squeeled happily, launching himself forward in a friendly hug. He liked hugs. Also, she was going to help him, right? Helpers always got hugs.
"Need things," he said bluntly, though still smiling. "You help?"
Straightforward and to the point. He'd even trade his feathers for help, since Haki seemed to like them so much.

Haki hugged him right back. Well, look at this! She couldn't sleep alone because of the monsters, and they had sent Gavin to her to keep her company! She had SOMEONE TO SLEEP WITH! Estatic, she patted his head, and his neck, and nodded her head.
"I help." she said, infected by his smiles to smile herself. But help with what? Moving behind the hawk boy to close the door with a firm hand, she heard the singing of the lock click into place, and nodded.
"Wif what?"
Well, that was the crunch, wasn't it? And slightly confused, she wrapped the lacey sheet around her waist like an extra skirt, looking around. But what was she to help him with?
Maybe he needed someone to sleep with too.

After the hug, he wondered, Now why am I here again? OH YEAH! Stuff! He paused for a moment to remember what two things he came specifically to Haki for.
"Need money," he said, trying to remember the second thing. "And somefink that breaks, but not alweady breaked."
Well that made perfect sense. To him at least. Haki seemed to have plenty of money and breakable things, so maybe she could spare him some. She could be a helper!
Now, if she asked why he needed those things, then he might be in trouble.

Money? Something breakable? Was that it? She gave Gavin a look of 'that's it?!' because it was simple enough, especially at their house. "Not already breaked?" Well. That was easier. If he had asked for something breakened, then she might have been in trouble.
Because anything brokened would cause a lot of noise, and Haki didn't want to wake up her father yet. THAT would create too many problems. She didn't think he'd approve of her midnight visitors.
"Money!" she grinned. Reaching for his hand and dragging him along to the side table near the couch, she reached up and opened the little drawer. Marc kept one of his wallets in here...
and with that, she pulled out a wallet with great flourish.
"Money!" She proclaimed. Whatever was inside the leather, she knew it bought her stuff. And money bought her stuff. So the leather thing must be money too!

He made squeaky noises of excitement when Haki dragged him over to the side table. When she pulled out the wallet he had to jump up and down. This was it! This was it!
"Money!" he squeeled, reaching for the wallet. Something inside him felt a little more whole, and it wasn't due to greed. He didn't really even know what money did, but it helped him do his thing-that-he-didn't-know-what-it-was-yet!
However, he did realize that dangers lurked around every corner during this grand, epic quest of searching. Cautiously he looked around the room.
"Daddee sleeping?"

Haki paused. Wait. Was he sleeping? She wasn't very sure about it... so with a frown, she bought a finger to her lip. "Maybe." she whispered, quietly, murmuring the words as she opened the wallet. Maybe it would be better to give him the insides, instead of the entire thing...
Just in case he woke up looking for it. Marc was a strange man. He, of all people would do that. So she flipped it open, took out a couple of the plastic cards, a wad of bills, and handed it to Marc.
"Money." she said, seriously, smiling. See? She was such a good hero.. ... hero... hero-ess! Yes. A fantastic hero-ess.
"Okay?" and she cast a glance to the smaller room.
As long as they didn't make a loud noise with the OTHER thing...

Immediately he quieted down when Haki brought her finger to her lips. That was the universal sign of quieting down, especially if one was sneaking around taking things that belonged to other people. They were being helpers too, just not with their permission.
He took the money with a big smile. Haki was a great hero-ess!
"Okay," he said. He followed her gaze to the other room.
"Somfink not breaked in there?"

One of these days Haki would have to have Gavin over and explain to him that everything in the house was breakable, and because it was still here, nothing had been broken yet. But that would wait until the way she understood the difference between break, breaked, breakened and breakeded.
"Uh huh." she grinned, nodding her head as she looked around. She pointed to the vase, and then her eyes brightened.
"Not breaked?" she asked. It was fairly large, but small and slender. Something Haki could clearly carry with some difficult, but alone. It was also perched on a low counter that would come up to Gavin's chest.
But they could make it, really. As long as one or the other didn't try to drop it.
It didn't enter her mind to give him something easy to hold.

Gavin eyed the vase in awe. Now that was something nice and breakable. And it wasn't even breaked yet! He mentally declared tonight was a good night for him. Him and his list of unexplainable things to find.
It didn't look easy to hold, but at least the money fit into his pants pocket. He'd have two free hands. Getting it up and down stairs would prove to be difficult.
"Not breaked," he smiled, pointing toward it. He walked over to the table and reached up for it. He looked back toward Haki, not feeling too confident on his own sense of balance.
"Help?"

Haki nodded her head. She could help. But she wanted the easy job, so she went to the other side, stood on her tip toes and tried to push it towards him with all her might. If she stood this high, she touched the swell of the vase, and there was enough momentum that, sooner it later, it might land in Gavin's hands.
But she didn't predict the skirt that had wound it's way loosely down to her knees, nor that when she pushed off with her legs, that her feet would catch on the edge and give her more momentum than she needed.
Huh.
Haki's eyes widened.
But she didn't stop herself. Or give warning. Because that would wake Marc.

Gavin reached up his arms to prepare for the nice, big breakable thing as Haki pushed it. Of course, he hadn't been predicting it would came at him that fast. He panicked first, and debated running away, but then he remembered that he needed something that wasn't broken.
He let it fall toward him, but something that big knocked him over completely. Being that he failed to get a good grasp of it with his hands, it slipped onto the floor with a loud thud.
Once the danger was over he looked at the vase, which now sported a long crack running up the side.
"It breaked," he said sadly, looking up toward Haki.

Haki frowned, looking at it with impossible anxiety. Well, that didn't help, did it? Stirrings from the smaller room, a murmuer as someone rolled over to check the time had Haki stiffen.
Oh. Well it seemed daddy wasn't sleeping any longer.
"avin come?" she queried, tugging the lace sheet off from around her completely, and dashed into her room. She had something small! And besides, she wasn't feeling up to stealthy pull-something-else down-before-he-walks-in plan.
She didn't think he would approve of what she was doing.
Breakable...breakable...
Huh. Her eyes fastened on the pink orb Thorn had given her as a present. You know what, maybe that would work! As a present. It was breakable after all.

Seeing that Haki looked a bit anxious and hearing something in the other room, Gavin quickly followed Haki to her room. The last time he broke something here bad stuff happened. Well, not to him, but Mommee didn't look too happy. And she wasn't here to take the blame this time.
"Coming!" he whispered behind her. Hopefully none of his feathers had fallen out, as that would be a tell-tale sign as to who had been there.
In Haki's room, he followed her gaze to something shiny. Ooooh, that was pretty.
"That?" he asked in awe. He'd never seen anything so pretty. And breakable.
