Xander, that was an excellent post. It took me a while to read, but I'd say it was worth it. ^_^ I love how you used that one webpage to prove him wrong. The whole thing was just like "I'm right, you're wrong. I have scientific proof, you don't. End argument." Excellent.

gentlemen, i also support the creationism theory because "the bible says so" and i realize you will all flame me because of my blind faith in the bible so i first must prove the infallability of the bible;
1. The Bible claims it's true Although this in itself does not prove that the Bible is true, we could immediately doubt the truth of the Bible if it never made this claim. The fact is that the Bible claims that it is written by God and thus keeps open the possibility that it is true:
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. (2 Tim. 3:16)
Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:20-21)
2. Jesus claims it's true Even if you think Jesus is just a great teacher, that fact that a great teacher makes such a claim about the Bible must count as evidence for the Bible's truth. Jesus claimed that "Scripture cannot be broken" (John 10:35), "until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished" (Matthew 5:1 cool , and "O foolish men, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken..." (Luke 24:25-27). Jesus also used the Bible as a weapon against Satan in Matthew chap. 4. And He kept appealing to the Bible as if it had authority, by saying "it is written" seventy times.
3. The Bible is a morally and ethically superior piece of literature A college English professor (a non-Christian) at the University of California, Berkeley, encouraged his students to read the book of Ecclesiastes, claiming that it was a remarkable piece of literature. The Bible's superiority has often been acknowledged even by unbelievers and is denied by few who have actually read and studied its pages.
4. The Bible has extraordinary unity The Bible is composed of 66 parts, or books, written over a period of approximately 1,500 years (from about 1450 BC to about 90 AD) by over 40 different people. These writers were all different from each other. Some were rich, some poor, some young, some old. Some were priests, some prophets, one was a tax collector (Matthew), one was a doctor (Luke), a tentmaker (Paul), and a fisherman (Peter). Yet they all wrote about the same man who claimed to be God - Jesus Christ. On the surface, there might seem to be disagreement between the writers, but if you study deeper, you will find that they all agree about Jesus Christ, God, the Holy Spirit, the Bible, the end times, salvation, heaven, hell, etc.
Not all collections of religious writings can claim this feature. The Koran was entirely written through the revelations of one man, Mohummad. The Book of Mormon was entirely written through one man, Joseph Smith.
5. The Bible is historically accurate Luke, a Bible writer, is one example. His details about Roman officials such as "Sergio Paulus of Cyprus," "Gallio, the proconsul of Achaia," "Herod the Great," "Pontius Pilate," and "King Agrippa,"are all confirmed by ancient Roman historical records and archeology. Even unbelieving scholars agree that King David, King Solomon, the Philistines, and countless other persons mentioned in the Bible were real people, and that such cities as Ephesus, Philippi, and Thessalonica were real places. The ancient Ebla Tablets, a collection of 17,000 tablets discovered since 1968 and written around 2,500 B.C. mention the biblical cities of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboiim, and Zoar, found in Genesis 14. The Mari Tablets, 25,000 tablets written in 1,900 B.C., mention the names of Abraham, Jacob, Nahor, Dan, Levi, Benjamin, and Ishmael, found in the book of Genesis. Also a Canaanite bronze calf was discovered a couple of years ago and reported in Time magazine, confirming the Bible's account that pagan nations worshipped calves.
6. Bible prophecies are fulfilled Jesus Christ, for example, fulfilled numerous prophecies. Read Isaiah 53 (the entire chapter), Micah 5:2, Daniel 9:25-27, and Jeremiah 23:5-6, and Psalm 16:8-11. In these few Old Testament prophecies, made several hundred years before Christ, we are told the exact time of Jesus' coming, the exact place of His birth, the family of which He would be born, the condition of His family at the time of His birth, how He would be received by people, the method and details of His death, how He would be buried, and His resurrection. These predictions were all fulfilled with great precision in Jesus Christ and can be verified through the books of Matthiew, Mark, Luke, and John.
7. The Bible has been extraordinarily preserved The Bible is very old. Its oldest book is almost 3,500 years old. Yet, somehow, more than any other ancient writing, the Bible doesn't seem to change over time, even over thousands of years. For example, ancient scrolls of parts of the Bible (e.g. book of Isaiah, Psalms) written around 100 B.C. were found in the 1940's near the Dead Sea in the Middle East. When compared to the next most ancient biblical scrolls, the Masoretic Texts, written around 900 A.D., there are no significant differences!
As for the New Testament, there are about 25,000 ancient manuscripts (i.e. copies), dating as early as 120 A.D., or in other words, just 30 years after the last book of the New Testament was written. Compare this to Homer's Iliad, of classical Greek literature (which you might have studied in junior high), of which there are only 643 ancient manuscripts, dating only as early as 500 years after its writing. There are only 193 manuscripts of the works of Sophocles, 49 of Aristotle, and only 7 of Plato's Tetralogies, dating as much as early as 1,200 years after its writing. In short, the Bible is perhaps the most well-preserved book in the world.
8. The Bible writers endured great persecution for what they saw They were eyewitnesses to Jesus' resurrection or His existence and held to their story even under great persecution. If the events in the Bible were false, no writer in his right mind would endure such torture for a lie. Matthew was slain with a sword in Ethiopia. Mark died by being dragged through the streets of Alexandria. Luke was hanged on an olive tree. John was banished to prison in Patmos. Peter was crucified upside down. Jude was shot to death with arrows. Paul was beheaded at Rome by Emperor Nero. Would any of you do the same for evolution?

Science books, experiments, FOSSIL RECORDS, exsitances of religion BEFORE Christianity (pagan, hinduism, basically all eastern religion) all show that saying that what the bible says is true is therefore true. Also, amazingly, for someone trying to preach CREATIONISM, and does not once mention a bible quote about creation is semi ironic. BIBLE BAITING!!! bob_the_hyper 2. Jesus claims it's true Even if you think Jesus is just a great teacher, that fact that a great teacher makes such a claim about the Bible must count as evidence for the Bible's truth. And I claim that ghosts exist. And the sad thing is, I could probably come up with more fact based reasoning for the existance of spirits than how one person saying a book is true is true. Guess if a literature professor from an Ivy Leauge University was to say that The Da Vinci Code is true, since they might be a great teacher it IS therefore true. BIBLE BAITING!! bob_the_hyper 3. Um... last I looked Ecclesiates was only one section of the Bible. Unless everyother part just died. Saying that one part is a remarkable piece of literature is not saying the entire book is great literature. Now morals and ethics. Is it moral or ethical to kill pretty much every living thing with a flood (not getting into the Christian theivery, did that in another section), to destroy whole cities, preach stoning of people, turn someone to salt becuase they looked back. The Old Testament God was anything but moral or ethical. In fact (and I am studying religion, if you want I will prove this next statement) Christianity is the least moral and ethical religion. bob_the_hyper 4. The Bible has extraordinary unity The Bible is composed of 66 parts, or books, written over a period of approximately 1,500 years (from about 1450 BC to about 90 AD) by over 40 different people. The Koran was entirely written through the revelations of one man, Mohummad. The Book of Mormon was entirely written through one man, Joseph Smith. And only one was an apostle. It doesn't matter where a person lived, their age, color, monetary value tp be able to write about something. The Old Testement was written by one person God, and each of the main books of the New Testement was really written by one person, because all of the people who wrote it, were followers, but only the one was one of the 12. Buddhism, Confuciosism, Hinduism, Taoism were all writen by more than one person, or over a period of time (including after the founder died). And some religions (Shinto) do not even use a scripture as their source of knowledge. They have none. bob_the_hyper 5. The Bible is historically accurate Luke, a Bible writer, is one example. Well of course it's going to be historically acurate. The people who wrote it, wrote it while they were alive. So what they wrote about was what was going on. How's that for interesting events? And as for the people, the bible is not the only place where people (or places for that matter) are talked about. Also, this is coming from a Celtic Pagan/Taoist, pagans do not worship the animal. The calf is the animal of a god or goddess that then nation worshiped. If you are going to mention othe religions, at least get your facts straight. Makes you sound smarter. bob_the_hyper 6. And Nostrodomus's predictions have also been proven correct. And unlike anything from the Bible, they deal with a wider range than just one man. And I know that this is a fact cause my high school had a copy of Nostrodomus's predictions, all of them and translated, and those that had come true by publishing date (1994) were written in. And one of the predictions talked about a flying entity hitting a tall structure... hadn't been necessarily proven by 1994, but does anyone here remember 9/11? bob_the_builder 7. Stone Egyptian carvings are believed though to be older than the Bible. And no religious texts change over time. But think of all the translations (KJV, Gideon's etc etc) that speak differences because of simple word changes. The Hindu Veda was writen in 2500 B.C.E. (best estimate) which makes it over 4500 years old. Bhagavad-Gita 5 century B.C.E. (1000 years pre-Bible) Gilgamesh Epic (oldest flood story) 2000 B.C.E. 4000 years ago. (500 years pre-Bible) Heiroglyphic religious writings 3100 B.C.E. 5100 years ago (1600 years pre-Bible) Mesopotamian religious writings 3500 B.C.E. 5500 years ago. Karasene So question, if the bible said that the sky was orange, would that actually make the sky orange. Whatever. Also, amazingly, for someone trying to preach CREATIONISM, and does not once mention a bible quote about creation is semi ironic. BIBLE BAITING!!! the bible never anywhere in it makes such a blatant self contradiction of itself in saying "the sky is orange" i challenge you to find just one self contradiction throughout the entire bible. when the bible says "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. " genesis 1:1 kjv i have a tendancy to believe it based on the bibles irrefutability Karasene And I claim that ghosts exist. And the sad thing is, I could probably come up with more fact based reasoning for the existance of spirits than how one person saying a book is true is true. Guess if a literature professor from an Ivy Leauge University was to say that The Da Vinci Code is true, since they might be a great teacher it IS therefore true. BIBLE BAITING! true, but did said ivy league professor ever preform miracles? jesus wasn't merely a "great teacher" he was God incarnate(in the flesh) Karasene Um... last I looked Ecclesiates was only one section of the Bible. In fact (and I am studying religion, if you want I will prove this next statement) Christianity is the least moral and ethical religion. flooding the world seems, upon first glance, to be unethical, but when you consider the conditions of the world at that time (found in genesis 6:5-8 ) and how the entire population of the world besides noah and his family were steeped in sin so that the creator found his creation so repulsive he wiped the slate clean to give noah's desendants a chance to break free from the downward spiral of sin. Karasene And only one was an apostle. They have none. you seem to be confused over the bible and its authors. the bible states; "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17). 66 total books through the bible, 39 of which are in the old testament. 40 total authors can be found through the bible, all of which had written the bible with divine aid. matthiew, luke, and peter were all part of the origional 12 that jesus hand picked to be the first apostles to preach jesus' message of salvation. paul, however, was actually a roman soldier sent to hunt and kill the apostles when god himself appeared before him and said "[paul] fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" acts 9:3-5 Karasene Well of course it's going to be historically acurate. Makes you sound smarter. ok, so i havent been keeping up with the pagans xd for info on the prophecies jesus fulfilled in the old testament(waay beore jesus was born) visit this site http://www.bprc.org/topics/fulfill.html keep in mind the prophesies written in the old testament are scattered through multiple books written by multiple authors. do you really think that more than one biblical writer having the same type of prophecy is a coincidence? Karasene And Nostrodomus's predictions have also been proven correct. Nostradamus wrote in three languages, often using all three in the same sentence. And in addition to these three, he often interspersed words from Italian and Provencal. He utilized a non-standard word order with the frequent use of anagrams and references to astrological and mythological terms. All of these factors make his writings difficult to interpret and translate. Evidence of this can be seen in the various translations that exist for any given quatrain. The differences from one source to the next often demonstrate more the view of the translator than the actual meanings implied by Nostradamus. See the two translations below. Which one do you think was translated by a Hindu nationalist? Quatrain 59, Century III The empire of Islam by Hindus overthrown, The majority of Moslems will succumb, To radio-active fall-out by India blown, Making Muhammad forever silent and numb. Quatrain 59, Century III Barbarian empire usurped by the third, The greater part of his blood he will put to death: Through senile death the fourth struck by him, For fear that the blood through the blood be not dead. So, even before examining whether or not Nostradamus could accurately see into the future, we see that his writings are fraught with hurdles which present problems with translation, interpretation, and verifying their accuracy. Proof of this is that all of these things, when applied to current events and events in history, can only be applied retrospectively. And even then, often with a stretch, requiring the reader to accept inaccuracies in a year or a number of people involved, etc. basically, Nostradamus made may vauge prophecies that could be applied to multiple references in history and you credit him as a counter for prophesies that came from God. Karasene *sigh* poor poor person. First of all, most religions started out as oral religions. The writen word had yet to be created. Stone Egyptian carvings are believed though to be older than the Bible. And no religious texts change over time. But think of all the translations (KJV, Gideon's etc etc) that speak differences because of simple word changes. -The Hindu Veda was writen in 2500 B.C.E. (2000 years pre-Bible) I think I just proved you wrong. age doesnt equal truth. i also bet none of these religions thouroughly explain creation like the bible does. Karasene They died for their beliefs. They believe it to be the truth, so no matter what you tell them, they will consider it the truth. All people will die for their beliefs, whether in religion or otherwise. Does that mean that what their belief was, WAS true. No, it just means that it was true for them. The same ties in with beliefs. the apostles were not just killed for thier belief, they were tortured. keep that in mind when your downplaying thier unshakability(sheesh! is that even a word?) in thier belief.
