Big Eyes, Long Tentacles
Adventuring in the World of Modern Horror
It is Modern Day - Middle America...
Foul creatures of haunted legends stalk city streets in search of prey.
Night falls, and the world prepares to sleep. It will be a troubled sleep, however, tormented by nightmares made all the more terrifying because they are real. Monsters prey upon the weak, the innocent, and the lost.
Each of you has received a letter, whether it was delivered by a mysterious messenger, discovered under your doorstep, or given to you by your boss as your next mission for the organization you work for. The letter, from an anonymous source, is to notify you that an important meeting is about to take place, and you are expected to attend. What little information the letter gives describes a Para-normal threat to Reality itself. A very ludicrous idea, since you know that claims of Para-normal activity are all hoaxes or delusions. Something about the note interest you though, and you find yourself unable to forget about it. Maybe it was the promise of valuable rewards or a personal interest in the subject matter. Either way, when the appointed meeting time approaches, you head out.
You now find yourself standing before a huge, many-storied and buttressed, gothic-looking church with gargoyle statues looking down upon you menacingly from the many gables and roofs, their many-toothed maws agape. The huge, ornate double-doors yawn open, revealing only darkness inside. There appears to be a complete lack of external signage on the church itself.
There are 2 cars and a black dirtbike in the parking lot. A beat up looking van with the words "Assembly of" printed in large red letters on the side, the rest appears to have been removed by rust and chipping paint. The other car is a luxurious Rolls-Royce in perfect condition. The dirtbike is rather small, and the black spray paint is chipping to reveal chrome underneath.

K walks stands casually in front of the church, taking a long drag from his cigarette, his huge minigun proped up against his side. He could think of over a hundred things that he would rather be doing at the moment, other than standing in front of a run down church that looked as if the devil himself had layed ruin to it, smoking and waiting for whoever the hell sent him that stupid letter. It had been in his head since he had first read it. "I could be reading Loveless... Or Fruits Basket right now..." He sighed to himself, leaning against a run down van that had probably been abandoned some time ago. Pushing the Hair out of his tatooed face, the blue flames extending from somewhere under his hair and continuing down until they disappeared under the coller of his shirt, covering most of hs otherwise handsome face, he used his free hand to pull out a manga from under his coat. "Well, at leat I have something to read..." he sighed, flipping open the cover as he began to read the latest volume of Gravitation.

Soidra leaned against the wall next to the dirtbike. Her hair was pulled down over the tips of her ears on the sides, as she was hopeful no-one would notice she was an elf. Her sharp eyes kept flicking back and forth to catch everything that went on, not htat there was very much going on right now.
Keeping an eye on her companion, she unsheathed a sword and started cleaning it, not that it needed it.
God, I'm so bored. I want to fight something, Paranormal or not.

Chiaki's brakes squeal loudly as she forces herself to slow down in the parking lot. Seeing the other vehicles she couldn't help but think that the van and the dirtbike were a waste but, damn, that Rolls-Royce was sweet. All the redhead had ever wanted to do with her life was drive, and drive fast, and anything else was a moot point, especialy the paranormal. Hopefully this will bring in the dough, there were a couple of things she really wanted to try in her car.
I better keep away from those other cars, can't afford to repair a Rolls-Royce, and whoever owns those other cars can't afford to fix mine.
WIth that she parked as far from them as she could, stepping out of her car she drew her pistol, this place seemed dangerous. She walks up to the entrance of the church and leans against the wall. Turning to the other two people in the parking lot she asks, "Are one of you the person I'm supposed to meet here?"

Seeing more people coming out of the woodworks, K quickly placed the manga back in his coat. There was no need after all, for people to find out that he, a big strong mercenary, spent his spare time reading shojo manga's. "Well, you certainly have good manner's girly." K responded, taking another drag from his cigarette. "Drawing your gun and asking us if we're your contact." This one was most likely a gear head, considering the way she had tor into the parking lot. Hot headed and fast paced, K couldn't help but like them, almost as much as teasing them. "But no, I was called out here too. Now are you going to stop waving that thing around..." he chuckled as he pointed at the pistol, them patted the minigun. "Cuz mine's a tad bit bigger, and grace us with your name missy?"

"I, too, was called here." Soidra said, still cleaning her sword, keeping her eyes on both the newcomer and the man.

The loud sounds of a motor on the road, squealing tires sounded to those in the churchyard, and someone came down the roads, slightly speeding. Under the red coat, one could tell this person was female, as the seemingly strapless brassiere was any indication. Slowly, the person slowed on the Motorcycle and parked in the churchyard's parking lot.
Killing the engine, she slowly got off her ride and took off her helmet. Looking about, she noted all the people and spoke, pulling out a familiar letter. "Does anyone here know about these?" She asked, in a soft soprano voice.

Soidra shook her head, noticing how hard it would be for three people to not eventually notice her ears.

"So far, I guess none of us knows why we were called here..." K sighed, dropping his cigarette and stomping it out with the heel of his boot. "But since I'm assuming where all here for the same reason, then we best start getting friendly." Slinging the huge minigun over his back, straping it on securly, K pushed his hair from his tatooed face, extending his hand, also tatooed with the same bluish flames as his face, towards the girl who had just arrived. "K at your service, mercenery extrodenar. Maybe you've heard of me, as I'm more famous than I really care to be."

"Guess we might end up working with each other..." Chiaki grinned, keeping her gun by her side, "My names CHiaki, but until I know you people aren't a danger to me my gun's not leaving my side."

Kyoji's parachute hit the ground as a helicopter passed overhead, his wristwatch sending up a fairly small image of a man cloaked in darkness. The words coming from the watch were faint and static-like.
"I trust that you have reached the location"
Kyoji nodded with a smirk
"Yes sir, I've reached the location, the ride was smooth as always."
The man gave a chuckle then nodded.
"I said I'd brief you more when you reached the location. You are to investigate the claims of paranormal activity in this location. I believe there may be others that have been assigned to this task other then you, so try to work with them. The letter left in your armoury will give more details then I wish to explain. You have permission to terminate any hostile threats. That is all, Chief out"
Kyoji nodded back as he shut down the watch, grabbed his Pistol in his hand and smirked, activating the laser sight and walking towards the church, somewhat oblivious to the fact of the random cars and dirtbike in the parking lot, progressing further towards the people talking near the church

The girl that came in on the Motorbike nodded, putting the letter away before speaking. "I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Ro Jinko, and my specialities are bikes and electronics."

"Damnit, why the hell do things like THAT make me late..." Z said, stumbling into the parking lot, and noticed a group of people, like 4 or 5, grouped together. Z took out his gun, loaded it, then put a hand on the sword seathed at his side, and aproched them...
