One of the funny things that has always struck me about this series is how most of the names come from numbers...especially in French, for some strange reason.
Easy to recognize is Duo as 2. Trowa is 3 and Quatre is 4, strangely also their Gundam numbers...so is Heero #1 and WuFei #5?
Also Treize, which means "thirteen" and Quinze, which means fifteen.
What's the reasoning behind this? Any number names I'm missing? Comments?
(I know Colonel Lady Une's original thread has some more numbers...I just now found that...)

Heero , or rather Hiiro, suposedly means the one and only. at least thats what I have read. I have not seen wufeis yet but Its probably 5 in Chinese.

I'm going to take a wild guess on WuFei. I'm guessing that since Wu means 'army squad", "crow", and/or "sorcerer" in chinese that the five reference is in Fei. Though, last I checked the number reference in Heero's name was in Yuy. I could be wrong, though.
Treize and Quinze are correct.
If I remember right, Zechs is 6 and Noin is 9. I'm not too sure on the number references here. I know that Lady Une is 11. Though, it should be one seeing as how une is french for one/a/an. How 11 was derived from that I have no idea.
The reason for the numbers, I can only guess the creaters wanted to put some sort of pun in it. Maybe to lighten the seriousness of the series, or just to give us something to have fun with and wonder about.

Oreasa If I remember right, Zechs is 6 and Noin is 9. I'm not too sure on the number references here. Alternate spellings of German "sechs" and "neun" so that people would be able to pronounce it. And yes, the numbers are the same. As far as I can tell, those are the only German numbers used (I take German in high school).

I think Milliardo is French for Millions or something odd like that.......
Duo is deadly obvious.......
there was the novel character named Solo (dur)
Not only numbers but months as well.

Milliard comes from some Romance language or other. It's also the British word for "billion".

Une is French for one, but Heero is also one; as a result, Une was given 11 to keep her distinct. I don't know why they didn't use U; maybe to keep her distinct from Midii.

Une is 11 due to her split personality. Une is one and 11 is two ones side by side symbolizing Une's two personalities.
Btw, have you noticed that Milliardo named Peacemillion after himself?
Think about it: Milliardo Peacecraft
Peacemillion
Not to mention that Peacemillion is a spaceship so it's technically a transportation craft.

Actually, Peacemillion was named a long time before Zechs came along; it's more of a silly coincidence that the names are so similar.

Colonel Lady Une Une is 11 due to her split personality. Une is one and 11 is two ones side by side symbolizing Une's two personalities. Now that makes more sense. As I thought when I was little one plus one equals eleven. ^_^
