What does everybody think of the conflict that is going on in the Middle East? Do you think that it will lead to a war on a much bigger scale. I think Iran and Syria will become involved in the conflict more than they already are.

Hopefully Bush will not feel the need to intervene in their little tiff over there.
If he does, there goes more troops. And if things with North Korea escalate even further, there goes even more soldiers and the military will be stretched even thinner all over the world. Maybe a reinstitution of the draft? I shudder at the thought.

I agree with Sweens in that it definetely wouldnt surprise me if eventually an anti-Israel coalition is formed and tries to blow it off the map....and as far as North Korea goes, notice how Bush is mighty quick to talk of diplomacy when he's kind of in a fix as far as troop numbers go....on a lighter note, did anyone see where Bush told President Putin they should switch to a democratic system like Iraq and Putin and the entire audience pretty much laughed Bush off stage?

Yes, that amused me considerably. Let's see how many more stupid comments Bush can make, they are always good for a laugh. Although I liked Putin's response to some of Cheney's comments earlier this year, when Cheny was visiting Eastern Europe. (I don't think that I blessed anyone on Gaia with my ranting on "why the hell does anyone let Cheney anywhere even remotely close to Eastern Europe, he should really know better, it is considered bad manners to sit on somebody's doorstep and insult them, especially Russia...") Putin compared the comments to Cheney's hunting shot.

It will turn into a full scale war, yes. Additionally, an anti-Isreal coalition already exsists in a very informal way in the middle east. It will be the end of many Islamic states, but not in the way that everyone would expect. Its funny that all this is happening, I think the hope is that this is a sign of the end of the word.....from a biblical stand point that is. I agree with the bible, I think that soon peace will be on its way. To quote "The Matrix" (sorry, cant help myself) "Its not a matter of hope, its just a matter of time".....
Lets just see though if Isreal does the unthinkable.....watch they will take all of thier land back that they had from the first war over there. After that Iran will not be the most vocal, Turkey will be. Here in not to much more time Russia will also allow an Islamic state in the south to exsist. Doubt me if you wish, but everything the bible says is comming true there.
Anyway, dont bother to pm me or superscript my post, Im not on here enough to even be a casual poster. Just think about it.

Isreal will kick all of the Middle-Easts bums as before. It's why nationalism and religion stink. It's a local problem and they shouldn't (and proud Iran won't) seek foriegn help. Wide spread alliances started WWI which to II. Either Isreal will get stronger or be wiped out, it's not a global problem.

Well I have cousins in lebanon, mainly in beirute.(I am lebanese) They say it's not as bad there as it's made out to be for civillians. I think it's going to escalate into a bigger thing, yeah. Not sure which countrys will get involved, but if it gets to big, no doubt the US is going to jump in like usual.

It would also seem as if Bush is trying to get Syria dragged into this mess. Even though it shouldn't be Syria's business to get Hezebolla out of Lebanon...

I like to think of myself as very knowleadgeable about the israeli military (I also like to think of myself as 7 ft tall). this is essentially what will occur. Israel is going to blitz (irony!) it's enemies throwing them into confusion knocking out every immediate threat, trying to establish it's right to exist. The posibility of US involvement is low as Iranian tactics (charging elementary kids at machine guns) wouldn't work against Israeli tactics(Killing everyone they deem a target) and the Iranian military is mostly unmodernized while Israel can has some of the best weapons (they made the uzi) and soldiers (the fanaticism of Moslems with better guns) and will likely be able to fend for itself as it did against Egypt, Syria, and Lebanon before.

ooooooor, one could just look at the fact that as of 2003, israel had 550 000 soldiers registed, witht he ability to mobilite double that again over a week. compare that to lebanon's military, at the same time it was about 70 000... if israel wanted, and it's the only country there to have nukes...
and yes mann, you are right. people just look at this and go "evil israelis attacking arabs" or the converse "go israelis, defend your right to exist". no one ever looks at it and asks what is the only solution to this: an end to racial antagonism. what causes this: capitalism, how do we fix it then? get rid of capitalism!
but, there is a slight difference here. it is not just two pathetic states attacking each other. what we have is a fortress state, backed, politicaly, economicaly and militarilly by imperialism. so, i guess the only thing to call for is : defend lebanon! for israeli troops to turn the guns the other way, turn the war of annexation into a civil war!

This whole conflict goes to show you how Religion is corrupted into the Capitalist ideology. Heck they use it most for imperialism and corruption. The U.S. Government provides millions if not billions of dollers worth of weapons to the Isreal government. I am not just targeting the Zions, it is with most big religions. Christians& Muslims have been fighting each other for years.....but the Ironic fact is this: they both preach brotherhood and helping their neighbor. It goes to show what Capitalism and greed can do to a religion. The bottom line about the conflict is this: It is stupid, and war is not needed.
