Hello, all! This thread will be somewaht of a log for me and Kei (and others, hopefully, eventually) in our matches on the KAWAKS emulator. such fighters include Garou: MOTW, SFA3, MvC, MSHvSF, and XMvSF. We'll be telling about match-ups and oucomes, and of course, special moments from our fights.

Well, the first thing that needs to be noted about playing online in any form is that, regardless of how small, you are going to catch a few spikes of lag that are going to sometimes affect the way things go, so, no, you should never consider playing online a true competitve experience. Like Icege and others have stated on many different occasions, though, it can be used as a bit of a learning tool, and to screw around with for a few fun, casual games. 3nodding

With that being said, lemme name off a few memorable times I've had playing against Sharingan, and a couple from way back against a friend of mine.

Garou: Mark of the Wolves

Kei vs. SharinganPhoenix: Matchup - Rock vs. Rock

It was the third night we'd played one another, the first two having been occupied by our fighting in Street Fighter Alpha 3. I'd given him some tips from the games before for him to sleep on, and I could tell a little ways into these matches that he'd paid attention, so I kicked things up a notch, pulling out a few mixups here and there, and throwing in the occasional fake move, which, unsurprisingly, he didn't fall for.

Winding down toward the end of the fight, he and I both had very little health left, and my T.O.P gauge happened to be set so that it activated around the last 25% or so of my health. I jumped in deep with a fierce kick that he guarded with a just defend, and I figured that he'd try to guard low, since it's kind of common for people to nail a sweep after something like that, so I used Rock's T.O.P attack, a sort of reverse flip kick that comes at a pretty high angle. What surprised me as I did this was seeing that he didn't try to guard, but rather that he tried to sweep me as I landed, which I barely dodged when I did my attack. Still, I figured I'd nail him. The very second he'd gotten out of his sweep animation, which, coincidentally, was when the kick was going to hit, he pulled a crack counter and nailed me instead, though it didn't kill me...not like it mattered, because he won that round, anyway. xd

In realiry, it's not horrible.... at leasat not all the time. It'll usually depend on the server, or somewthing to that extent. Kei and I have had some seamless matches before. And on the other hand, well...... Yuck. X.x

He and I use 1.54, unless we want to play KOF 2003, in which case we use 1.48. The server you play in depends on where you are. Basically, the closer you are to the server you choose, the more seamless things are for you. 3nodding

I just got my Kawaks to mostly work. I have KoF '02, SFAIII, and Mark of the Wolves. Note: To those that know me (ie: Kei and Phoenix), I suck a** at all fighters exept for Guilty Gear and Melty Blood (not helped by the fact that my PC game pad sucks too). IM me on MSN or something first and we might get a game going.

Which version of Kawaks do you have? I'd be interested in fighting you sometime. 3nodding

Sharingan and I played the other night. We went from Garou to Samurai Shodown IV to Matrimelee.

Garou was a back and forth affair for most of it. It had been a while since either of us had played, so we were both trying to kinda readjust to things on the fly, but it kicked back in after a few matches. One match in particular that I lost came WAY too close for my liking.

And, his Gato instills fear in me. gonk

Matrimelee was another back and forth affair, seeing as how playwise, it has something of a KOF/Rage of the Dragons feel to it, so it was easy for Sharingan to catch onto things even though it was his first time playing. I can't really say that I know who his favorites are there as of yet, but he did really well.

Samurai Shodown IV....I got raped... crying ...nuff said... cry

...and to think, Galford is one of my favs... sweatdrop That's alright, though. I'll practice up in that a bit before facing you again. I'll probably be practicing up in Matrimelee, too, just to be on the safe side.

I need to do the same. I can't go blindly into battle anymore. I have to have some bearing with the people I use.
