What do you think of this when it happens? personally on some of them I am really excited to see how they did it and the movie makers imagination, but afterwards I am usually left disappointed. It just isnt as good as the beloved book.

So what do you think? Do you like it when a book is made into a movie?

There are some movies that are really good, but some don't capture the imagination or perspective of the book.

Take Jurassic Park *all-time classic, I like it razz * , the book was excellent, top-notch. The movie was also great.

Harry Potter is a bit different, the books are great, but the movies are a bit different. If J.K. Rowling had created that film, it would've been really good.

Don't get mad at me, Eevee or Ziddeth. I just barely woke up. sweatdrop

i'm not much of a book reader myself so i really enjoy it when books are made in to movies. i cant really comment too much on the books but from what ive heard the Harry Potter books are much better than the movies. i really like the movies but it seems the books are better. another series i like is the Lord of the Rings. apparently the books went in to so much detail that it turned readers off. i loved watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy. probably one of my all time favorites.

i like the books better then the movies but in the movies you get to place the voices to the words...like in harry potter if you here his voice now (in part 4) and here his voice in his first harry potter movie and then you read the books (starting from 1) it sounds WAY different..... mrgreen

Book 9?

anyways personally the Harry Potter movies were a disappointment, especially the latest one considering how much they had left out. Plus the books went into more details.

I havent had time to read all the Lord of the Rings books but the movies are good but it does seem something is left out. I guess T.R.R. Tolkien isnt one of my favorite writers you could say.

The one thing I would be affraid of is that Memoirs of a Geisha will be a big disappointment. I have read the book and I have loved it because of the details, etc, but I am afraid that the movie wont captivate the true feeling that the book gave you in words.

Yes, only a select few of movies are as good as the books.

One really good series I like is the Stars Wars series. The first 3 movies that came out *episodes 4, 5, and 6* were really good. George Lucas created some great classics right there.

Some of the new ones are good, but they lack something very important in the newer ones.

Usually the movies don't do the books any justice, but I'm sure there are a few exceptions.

LOTR was one. I hated those books, they were incredibly boring to me. I love the movies though.
The Eragon movie coming out can't be as bad as the books. I think that will be another special case in which the movies are better than the books.

i never actualyl read all of eragon, i have read a good chunk, but not all of it. i just never finished it so i have never read Eldest. I wouldnt be suprised but I dont have high expectations for the movie.

to me it all depends on how well the movie was done.

there was a very disappointing of Narnia some years ago, but then the movie was excellent.

The Wizard of Earthsea was B+ as a made-for TV movie.

one of the best and most faithful adaptations was The Lat Unicorn, i'd say.

I remember they made a very old Narnia cartoon movie. It was made long ago.

Now, that the movie has actually come out, the new one is sorta good, but I'm not a big fan of Chronicles of Narnia.

When I think about I dont think the writing was the best, but i think they did a good job on the movie compared when you look at the book. I think they gave it justice.
