The climate had noticably started to change a day or so back in the journey, but now the first of green is appearing on the horizon. With the Jungle not far away, Kijibwa is in high spirits. The bright green spot ahead of them is the whole reason for the travels through the sands, and he is looking forward to getting the sand all from his fur.

"We're almost there," he says brightly, glancing around for Siku, "Look at the horizon, finally something other than gold."

He puffs up proudly.

Following Kijibwa's gaze to the distance, Siku gasped in amazement, her eyes widening at the site of the jungle. The trip had been long and hard, but this was final payoff. The ends to justify the means. Tail thumping in excitement, Siku's mind drifted back to the journey they had taken. She had been so much smaller, and more easily frightened when they started! Sure, she had a bit of an emotional breakdown, but that wasn't the worst thing that could've happened. The trip had been good for her; helped her grow, and come out of her shell more. That, and Siku had finally adjusted to the occasional 'vision' she happened upon. Again, that was something she didn't think woul have happened at home. Who would have helped her, or believed her for that matter, when the first vision arose? Would she even have had the visions?

Shaking herself from her thoughts, Siku looked over to Kijibwa, still grinning widely in excitement. He was just as excited as she was! Hopping up immidiately, she ran a short distance ahead, looking back and calling excitedly.

"Come on! I want to see it as soon as we can!" She laughed, tensing her muscles as she prepared to ran again. The sooner they got there, the better!

Kijibwa's mien stays tall and proud after Siku's reaction, if ever he had a second thought of taking the young lioness from the Pridelands there is not a trace of it now. Watching her become more confident itself was an excellent reward.

"I'm coming," he calls up to her, grinning, "We'll be there in no time now!"

He does a quick stretch, and then leaps into a sprint after her, catching up quickly as she prepares to run again, "Then we can be rid of all the sand, I know I'm covered in it." He winks.

"If I never see sand again in my life," Siku replied with a laugh, bounding off again as Kijibwa caught up, but continuing in her run this time, "I think it'll be all too soon!" Her pace quickened a bit, with Siku making sure that she wouldn't wear herself out, or fall too far behind Kijibwa as they ran.

Noticing her stride as she ran, for whatever odd reason, Siku managed a prideful beam as she realized she had grown that much bigger, and would show her family a completely changed lioness! Colche's words came to mind, as well as an image of her own mother, wondering how the two of them were doing.

"And we probably have half of the dry lands covering us now!" Siku added, managing a playful wink in return. The little lioness really had grown up.

"We'll decide how soon that is in due time," he replies with a chuckle. Though the lion is not fond of the sand, he has some strange attachment to it. The desert is his earliest memory, and he has a new friend out there- both of which contribute to his attachment to the land. At least, he doesn't mind visiting it, though he wouldn't stay long.

Kijibwa watches his own pace carefully so that he doesn't get ahead of Siku, prefering to run along with her instead of ahead of her. It's not a race, after all! Not yet, anyway. He glances to her face, spying the proud expression, and he grins fondly at her joking. How she's grown!

The jungle comes closer and closer the longer they run, the land becoming less and less dry and sandy feeling. Just the feeling of the minute amounts of water in the air tells them they aren't in the desert any longer.

Slowing in her run and lifting her head high, Siku paused and closed her eyes, taking a very slow and deep breath. The air here was.. different, and somehow relaxing. Slowly opening her eyes, and turning a bright blue gaze to Kijibwa, she laughed a bit, smiling softly.

"Sorry about that, I just had to stop and feel the air here. Call me crazy, but it just feels so.. tranquil." Siku said, finally deciding that was the right word. Standing once more, she managed a look around, amazed.

"It's odd, isn't it? In that short of a run, the land changes so quickly, and yet you can travel for a lifetime in the desert and never find your way out." Romantically sighing, she once more looked back to Kijibwa.

"Don't you think?"

Kijibwa skids to a halt when Siku is suddenly not in his peripheral vision, and he turns his head back to find her. He laughs when he sees her taking in a deep breath, and then walks over to her.

"Don't apologize," he says quietly, "The scenery's slowly been changing but you're right, it seems to just strike you all at once." He pauses, considering her statement for a moment.

"It is interesting, and you never seem to get tired of the feeling," he beams, "You never just get used to it."

"I don't think it'd ever be possible to." She said quietly in response, almost a bit of a day-dreamy feel in her tone. Siku remained like this for a moment, seemingly in thought, only to snap out of her thought with a sheepish grin. Laughing, she hopped up again, racing off ahead of Kijibwa once more.

"Alright, no distractions this time, I promise!" She called back, gaining her pace back once more. Besides, this wasn't any time to sit around chatting, they were right in front of the jungle! They were about to arrive!

"And I want to see what it's like in the jungle, not just near it!"

Kijibwa keeps his eyes on Siku the entire time she pauses dreamily, waiting for her to come back to here and now, but also just liking to watch her and her reactions. His eyes light up when she starts up again, and he grins widely.

"Alright, I think we're close enough now," he says, shifting his weight to his back legs to prepare to spring forward again, "I'll race you to the trees!"
PostPosted: Thu Jul 13, 2006 4:52 pm

Seeing Kijibwa spring after her, Siku managed a laugh, forcing her legs to carry her even faster toward the jungle. Turning back to the path ahead of her, she poured all of her strength and focus into beating Kijibwa, quickening her pace and running at full speed. She wasn't used to this sort of thing, seeing as she hadn't ever had a dire need to run at full speed, so it took a bit of dedication to keep herself going at this unusual rate.

Feeling a bit more confident on her feet, Siku grinned slyly, deciding that she could handle running. Drawing a deep breath, she turned back to Kijibwa, preparing to taunt at the fact he was being outrun by a younger lioness. Of course, this wasn't nessecarily the best idea, with the fast approach the two had on the jungle.

CRACK.
Finding herself turned upside-down, with a decent bit of pain coursing through her body, Siku dully looked around, muttering gibberish that was impossible to understand, even to her. Remaining in place, not feeling up to moving, she gave an upward glance to the large, brown thing sticking out of the tree. Blinking dully, she cocked her head to the side.

"..Is that.. the jungle?"

Ooc|| XD Oblivious little lion! One tree is not the jungle.

Kijibwa sprints, but keeps it just barely below his full speed- though even if he had been truly bent on winning the race, the lead that Siku has suggests it wouldn't have been enough. The lioness is obviously more aerodynamic than this lion.

Still grinning, he narrows his eyes at Siku when she turns around, obviously about to throw some taunt back to him. He only sees what's about to happen second before it does, and he stumbles a few steps when she crashes into the tree. Then at once he starts running faster to close the gap between them as quickly as possible.

"Siku!" he says, sounding concerned, "Are you alright?"

Having come to a stop just behind her, he leans forward to try to hear what she says- not understanding a single word of it. He raises an eyebrow despite his concern.

"What?" he blinks, following her gaze after she asks about the jungle, and finally laughing, "No, that's just one tree." She must be alright, though a little confused. Bumps on the head do that sometimes. With a slight smile, he gently pulls Siku away from the tree so that she can get up.

Still a bit dazed, Siku felt herself being pulled away from the tree, flopping onto her back with the world spinning. Nearly slipping out of conciousness, her mind caught on the sound of Kijibwa's voice, raising her head a bit to find a spinning image of.. three.. no, four? Yes, four sounded right. Four Kiji's.

"O..Oh.." She said quietly, rolling to her stomach and lying down for a minute. Groaning, her ears drooped, closing her eyes as she laid down a bit. Adjusting somewhat and managing a nod, Siku sighed, eyes darting back up to Kijibwa.

"Yeah. Just kinda.. ran.. into a tree." Siku said, breaking into a laugh at the sudden vision that accompanied her sentence. It was one of Kijibwa, she decided, as a much younger lion, also smashing into a tree. Shking her head, she beamed.

"Guess it's just kind of the initiation for young lions, mhm?" She asked playfully as the vision faded.

"Running into a tree, I mean."

Kijibwa takes a seat beside the poor, dazed lioness and remains turned to face her so that he can make sure she really is alright. He can see the dizziness in her eyes, and is tempted to shake his head but decides staying still is probably a better idea.

"I noticed," he replies, giving her a gentle nudge and recognizing the look on her face when she sees something, apparently, funny. He doesn't know exactly what's so funny until she comments, then he laughs along with her.

"Looks like it," he says when he stops laughing, "Do you need a break, or can you get up?"

"I'll be fine." Siku said, staggering to get up, but eventually making it to a standing position. Taking a quick stroll about the area, struggling to keep up, she looked back to Kijibwa with a grin.

"Just need to get back on my paws, is all. That, and not run into any more trees." She added, managing a laugh as she slowly stumbled around. Still a bit dazed from the hit, as well as the lasting affect of the vision, she made a very ungraceful stroll to Kijibwa, sitting beside him.

"But for now, I think I'll be fine. Shall we head off?" She asked, gazing toward the thickening trees.

"..I think you should lead the way, though."

Kijibwa watches Siku struggle to get to her feet, leaning into her a bit to offer his support, "I don't doubt that you'll be fine, but are you fine now?" He asks, and keeps his eyes on her as she stumbles around and then claims to be fine after all.

"Alright, but we'll just go to some water to get a drink and cleaned up, then we'll rest," he suggests, "That ok with you?" He stands up, turning back to the trees with a smile. Without waiting for an answer, he steps towards the trees, stopping by the one she crashed into to see if she's coming.

"Right this way, but watch out," he jokes, grinning, "No races to win this time, speedy."
