I'm just wondering what muscle has grown the much while you train in a unexpected manor, I mean form doing tkd for...8-9 years now I didn't realize that all the bouncing on the balls of my feet were actually really strengthening my calves, then when we had to do fitness training in P.E. I found out that together my calves can lift over 300lbs. has anything like this ever happened to you?

I can relate to this... I haven't gained any real muscle tone or mass though... but with all the hip movement involved with kicking I've wowed friends that I had in my old home pre-TKD with how my abs look now. I actually feel more insercure with mid-difts now because my female friends joke about how I'm showing off. sweatdrop So much for being humble.

Running from below your arm down the side of the ribs? Bruce lee wings I like to call em, when he did that tensing thing he did he looked like a flying squirrel cos his lats stood out so far... Yeah I bet boxing does crazy things to those.. For me its mainly legs, my calf muscles have gone kind of square, and my hips are far more developed than they used to be. Because my legs are very long for my height and I'm pretty tall those muscles used to hurt sooo bad after training... and of course the abs stand out a lot more than they used to. I remember having a gut punching comp with a boxing buddy of mine, taking it in turns to punch each other in the stomach as hard as we could. The first time we played the target was just above the belly button and I won hands down, the second round was just below the belly button and he one eventually. It was fun if a little painful... especially the next day along with the hangover... smile

And, I dunno about the calf thing. I don't think I've done too much training with those, and at 120lbs (couple years ago) and about 5'11" height, I was doing calf raises of 320... but now that I think about it... I was biking quite a bit back then... All I know is that I'm skinny (5'11", 125lbs... I'm trying to gain weight.. but ya... good luck), but I have a very obvious six-pack (yes, I'm proud, damnit!) and my shoulders are a little over-developed compared to my dinky biceps.. hehe. It's like sticking an olive on a toothpick.. that's my upper arm.. So ya, I've got abs, calves and shoulders. My only complaint is that my muscles, although they are all very well defined, are all just LIIIITTLE too small to be impressive... I'm, like, 10 lbs from being uber sexy crying .

Hehe redface Thanks... This might help you with the forearm thing. Try punching while holding dumbells or sandbags. This can also help with your grip. Something else the chinese practioners do is grip big heavy jars of water by the mouth and hold them about waist to chest high.

I'm not sure about not noticing some things, but I know one thing. Even if I've been in TKD for over 5 years, it still hasn't done anything about making my a** smaller... I hate having a hispanic booty... sweatdrop

Moonlight Penguin I'm not sure about not noticing some things, but I know one thing. Even if I've been in TKD for over 5 years, it still hasn't done anything about making my a** smaller... I hate having a hispanic booty... sweatdrop crying It's so sad when people think gifts are curses... xp About my forearms, actually, they aren't much of a problem, they're a little skinny, but disturbingly defined. It's my biceps that really need to get bigger. All that said, I really don't need to get bigger. I like being slender. I just figured that 10 pounds wouldn't make me much heavier, and wouldn't do much for me in martial arts, but it would raise me up a few points in the "sexy meter". blaugh If you really think about it: I don't fight. I don't like to fight. So, real "practical application" isn't "combat application". For me, it's the other benefits.. i.e: health and sexiness wink .

Oh, and for the grip training. If you go to Wing Lam Enterprises , they have a very clever training tool for grip. It comes in different difficulty levels. Take a look. It realy is clever, I think.

You know... my boyfriend gave me something like that when he came back from visiting his family. (He came to the states from China.) When I first saw it I turned red because he said, "This can help you with your grip when I'm not around." redface I remember smacking him after that. (We had only been dating for two weeks at the time. Oops. redface crying I did say sorry.
