Chepi was wandering around the savannah, thoroughly lost and confused. She couldn't find her family or friends and this distressed her greatly! Green eyes darted franctically left and right, but to no avail. There was no one here!

One of the few rare times where this ebony cheetah actually wanders away from the Pride lands, this was it. Stopping shortly, Yaten sniffed the air before raising his head and catching sight of the small doe some distance away. Now, he wasn't in any mood to go hunting, but this doe seemed scared and lost. Lowering his head a bit, he started forward in the hopes of not scaring her, "Hello!"

Chepi caught the scent of the predator almost immediately. Nerves were already shot as she jumped into the air and leapt away. Not even answering the other's call, she was too terrified to do anything at the moment.

This is not what the ebony cheetah wanted, to scare the poor doe even more than she looked. A sight escaped from Yaten as his chocolate eyes followed the fleeing doe. Pondering on whether or not to go after her, he decided for the former. "Hey, wait up! I don't want to hurt you!" He hoped that this would get through to her so that she would calm down. Not running, just walking, he calmly followed the doe.

Chepi ran from the cheetah, but much to her disbelief, it wasn't chasing her! What was up with this cheetah anyway? She slowed down a bit before she heard his words. Didn't want to hurt her? When was the last time she had heard someone say that to her! She stopped and glared back at the cheetah, "I've heard that one before!"

Chocolate eyes gazed at the doe as her words made the ebony cheetah wince. It probably was true for most cases, predators don't just normally go up to prey animals and start talking to them, but Yaten was different. "I'm serious. My name is Yaten. I was just passing by and noticed you looked frighten." He wanted to know what was bothering her and then he began to wonder about Siltim and his family. What would they think of having this doe for company. That is, if she would come back with him, she could have fun with their little group!

Chepi blinked. What was up with this cheetah? He was acting strange. Her eyes widen. Oh dear, if he could tell that she was scared then that means so could any other predator in the area. It wasn't safe for her any more. Ears flicked back and forth for any additional sounds. Should she throw caution to the win? Taking a chance, "Why are you being nice? Aren't you here to come and eat me?" She knew she shouldn't linger, but there was just something about this cheetah that made her want to trust him. Perhaps it was his eyes.

Well, now there were getting somewhere, Yaten thought happily. He wanted to have the doe come with him, but he knew she'd have to trust him. In a calm voice, "I just wanted to help you. Plus, I'm not here to look for food anyway, I was actually going to see my friends back in the Pridelands. Would you like to accompany me?" There, he just beated around the bush and ran straight to the point. He'd like her to come with him, he knew it'd be safer that way, "Since I don't see anyone else with you, I thought it would be nice to have someone watch out for you. Not everyone is out to eat each other, you know."

Chepi blinked at his words, as they were getting odder and odder by the second. He didn't want to harm her? He wanted her to accompany him back to some other place? What was the world coming to! Her lime green eyes searched his own eyes for any traces of insincerity, but found none. Perhaps, she could trust him. Taking a few deep breaths, "Well, it is true. I have lost my family and friends. Though, I don't trust you, Predator, I don't mind being in your company. I gather it's better than none." She stopped just a hair away from the black cheetah, "If you try any funny business, I'm out of here in a heart beat!"

A warm smile took it's place on the cheetah's features as Yaten watched the little doe warm up to it. It made him quite happy to hear her consent, for he didn't want to do anything against her will. He was too much of a good guy in that light. His tail flicked slightly before he spoke, "What is your name? I would like to call you something other than 'doe'," He paused before turning to walk off in the direction of which he had come from. "You'll like where we are going, I'm sure of it. There is plenty of grass for you to eat, and there you can meet some of my friends. Though, I must warn you not to be frighten of them...they mean you no harm. They're lion cubs." He thought that to get all this out of the way would help for the doe to trust him, he didn't want her to think he was deceiving her or something. That would be just awful.

Chepi's ears dropped slightly. It just seemed to get from bad to worse. This cheetah was bringing her to play with cubs? Everything in the world was so screwed up! Though, she was a bit curious. Weren't lions and cheetahs enemies or something? That's what she always heard, anyway. "You're friends with cubs? I hope you're not bringing me to my death!" She eyed him wearily before giving in, "My name is Chepi." After she introduced herself, she followed him.

Feeling a wave of uncertainty pass through the little doe, Yaten beamed her a bright smile as he glanced back at her. "Don't worry, they love to go on adventures." Chocoate eyes gazed forward, "It is a pleasure to meet you, Chepi." A soft sigh escaped from the cheetah as he thought about the cubs. He hadn't met any other cheetahs in such a long time, he was beginning to wonder if he was the last of his kind or something. It was slightly discouraging. "Chepi, why are you out alone in this part of the savannah anyway? Did you wander off?"

Chepi followed after Yaten and kept quiet. This felt so weird to her, but hopefully she could trust this cheetah. But, as she took a closer look at him, she noticed he looked a bit sad...and lonely. How could that be? He talked a bit about friends, so he couldn't be lonely..could he? Turning to answer him softly, "I followed the scent of some sweet grass and managed to stumble off track. After that, I got lost and then you found me. I don't know what's become of my family and friends...I hope they're alright." Then, she blurted out, "How come you look sad?"

Keeping a steady pace, the black cheetah knew this path very well. This was the same one that Yaten had used when taking Siltim and Ma'isah on their fun-filled adventure. He smiled at the memory and wondered what they were up to know. As Chepi spoke, he was a bit taken back by her question. Sad? Did he look sad? There was something in his life that he was missing, somewhere in his heart that told him this. But, he didn't know what it was. He turned to take a look at the small doe. Perhaps she was more useful than she let on. Giving her a small smile, he replied, "Sad? I'm not sad, on the contrary, I just think there's something missing in my life, Chepi. And, I'm on the search to find it."

Chepi nodded her head but followed him quietly. Her green eyes took in her surroundings, making mental notes of some distinct landmarks to find her way back. And no sooner had she done this did she see lush green grass in the distance...her destination was almost here.
