Yeah, I play Bassoon and thought that we double reeds should have a place to talk.
Question. What do you guys play during marching season. I play Mellophone.

I didn't start basson until mid-spring of my sophmore years, so before that, I played alt sax when marching. Now I'm in pit, and this year I'm pit capt.

LeonTheEviscerator I didn't start basson until mid-spring of my sophmore years, so before that, I played alt sax when marching. Now I'm in pit, and this year I'm pit capt. I started in 6th grade. I was section leader for 2 years, but this year we haven't played the Bassoons yet due to football games. So, I hope I'm still section leader.

I play bassoon too. And I've never had to march, I'm from Scotland and only brass bands march here. smile

I didn't know that my band director signed me up for all-state tryouts, so right now I am working my butt off trying to perfect music and scales.... wish me luck.
There aren't many of us are there?

I play oboe as my main instrument. I march a different instrument every year so, so far I've played clarinet, baritone, bass drum, and next year I plan to go our for drum major. 3nodding

We were never allowed to march bassoon in parades (thankfully) though in middle school we did march them on the field... but I guess that is because we didnt really march and play. I love marching my mello... I wish you liked marching.

Hey cool, I'm a Bassoon to!!
And I am in Pit, but since our season is over (4A Band), and we still have football games, the Pit members were given Battery Instruments, and we're marching for the remaing games!
