Cool. I know Viz has a bad rep, but they haven't been doing too bad lately, from what I've seen... They didn't edit out anything in Yami no Matsuei, at least, and the translations seem to be pretty good...
I still wish that it would have come out in French, first, if only because manga tends to be less expensive in French...

I went to a japanese shopping center sort of thing up in London and went to their manga room (O.O whole room filled with manga books!! SWEET!!) and I sort out Death note in order to see if I could find the next book that held chapter 60 in it (needless to say I failed), and when I flicked through the Death Note ones that were there...and seeing the art in such a small formatte kinda put me off. Undoubtably I'll probably buy it ^.^= well at least the first book...actually now I think about it...I'm gonna buy all of them for my CHILDREN when I become a mother in the future. ho ho ho!! (*Feels like Daisukes mother from D.N.Angel)
dunno about anyone else...but I enjoy reading manga more near to the original size that they were drawn. You lose some of the charm of the art when it's squeezed on to B5 pages. Especially with things like Angel Sanctuary and Count Cain by Yuki Kaori, which is sad. xp That why I loved the scans!

I put the news up in the announcements thread whee heart I was just thinking, now that it's licenced (or so to be) scanlations are allowed to go on...are they? sweatdrop But I also though, because it so far ahead in translating...surely it should be allowed to go on because there are still Naruto downloads and stuff because they're on like chapter 237 or something...aren't they? I dunno, can someone answer this?

And as far as I know, it'll still be legal to download them, just not to distribute them... ^^; And if the scanalations DO go down, I'm sure we'll still be able to get raws of new releases.

Before I comment... AGGH I haven't been here in sooo~ long! But now I plan to be a regular member again. I'm sorry if my absence bothereed anyone... and if you were glad to see me gone, too bad! Unless, well, a majority of you hate me... but I'd probably just linger to annoy anyway, BUAHAHAHA!
...anyway, about Viz... I've been reading the scanlations of Hunter x Hunter before it was liscenced by Viz/Shonen Jump (same thing, right?), and I'm not sure about the editing they do... you know, when manga is translated, first it is translated, and then it is re-written so that it's easier for English audiences to read, right? (Scanlations don't do this, BTW) But for some reason, when I was reading the Viz version of Hunter x Hunter, I didn't like the way they wrote it. Everyone spoke so strangely... and not even awkwardly, it just seemed as though their personalities were tweaked with the different dialogue... xp
Well, maybe Death Note will be better. When it comes out, I'm definitely gonna buy it... I love the series (and it's not 25+ volumes long, like Hunter x Hunter is)! I don't like it in small version any better than the next person, but, well, that's just how manga is. And Japanese manga is even smaller. eek I had to squint to look at the Japanese version of the manga.
I HOPE VIZ DOES A GOOD JOB! I'm sorry if any Viz lovers or representatives read of my opinions and feel offended. Re-writing is probably very hard... though I don't see why a lot of re-writing would need to be done in the first place. Don't mess up, use good fonts, and, um... I'M GLAD IT'S ONLY $8!!!

Anyway, I could blather on about HunterxHunter for ever, so let's do it sometime! xd : What I don't like about the scanlations is the random editing of heads getting blown off... editing manga is so not cool. xp But, well, I got it for free on a disk from my friend, so I guess I shouldn't complain... ahh, I'm behind on both series right now... but I'm getting the scanlations now!

He should just hire some existants or something, I think... and return HxH to it's former glory.
