So, this morning I awoke to find my PS2 missing from its spot, and I FREAKED. I walked into my brothers room to see if he took it, and it wasn't in there. I went to my mom and asked her and she says "You're getting to old for games. Besides, you're a girl, you shouldn't be playing so many video games." At the same time, when I signed onto AIM and MSN, a couple of my guy gamer friends told me that their systems had been taken away too. What is wrong with people?!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! My brother says I'll grow out of video games, BUT I CAN'T!! IT SEEMS INHUMANE crying Someone tell me what to do crying I WANT MY GAMES BACK! She even took away my freaking GBA!!!! Have any of you ever gone through this?! She took away all my systems, and I have basically ALL of them except a DS and PSP. *dies* My games crying

Video games are a form of entertainment. Ask her how she would feel if someone came into your house and took away the television set because "She's too old to watch it, she'll grow out of it, not to mention she's a woman and should be in the kitchen anyways." (that's if your mom watches tv). Or some other form of entertainment of her's is taken away just because she shouldn't do it and she should be doing the social standards, since she's so hung up on them.

Tell her you hope to God she didn't throw them out, because you could in a few years use them to help with college living.

That's not right. Many girls play video games. No one is too old for video games.

That is not fair. My parent wouldn't do that, because they kind of like games.

Is your mom part of a radical church group? Perhaps all your friends moms and your mom have conspired to end video-gaming for all!
Those crazy church groups... My aunt's group told her that manga was "kiddie porn"
Guard the DS and PSP with your life....

video games are entertainment . . . it's not something for a specific age. Maybe convince her to let you show her a gory game and then be like . . . think this is only for kids NOW?

My parents always say 'It's my life, and it's my choice what to do with it. If I waste it away on games, it's my fault'. Anyway, I have a good balance between games and the 'outside world'.

Take her online and show her some of the magazine websites. You know, GI, Nintendo Power. Let her see some of the things they arrange. If you show her the tournaments and things you can also prove that they're good for any age group. Lastly, if you bought them, tell her to give you your money back. Be sure to add up the costs. The basic X-box, Gamecube, and PS2 alone no games included, is at least, $400. And that's not including extra controllers memory cards and other accessories. All of my games total up to at least that much.

I would have went off if she would have touched my systems..just full blown scream exclaim rawwr type of things. But she is the one who payed for them...but yeah people arent too old for games. More and more adults are beginning to play from what I see. Just come up with some charts that say they help with the mind also hand and eye corrdination. Also if you play ddr theres your excercise. But nah I havent went through that, my mom would ground me from (and that was rare) heh. I wish you luck fellow gamer!

you really need to talk to your mother about this...it isn't fair to you at all...i could semi understand if it was because you were playing waaayyy too much and she just wanted to get you out for a little while but seriously...age and sex has NOTHING to do with gaming...i think what ThreeDeadRats said was really freaking hilarious and right...you need to tell your mom straight up that it wasn't right...does your brother still have video games? ask her about those...and you said it was a gift from him? try and get him in on it too and get him to ask for his money back... good luck >.> i'll be sure to play some games for you
