I put the spoiler on it just in case. It may not be needed.

They've chosen the next companion! The actress's name is Freema Agyeman, she appeared in the Army of Ghosts episode as a minor character, and the producers liked her so much she's been picked for the next series. (Beating Michelle Ryan of Eastenders fame) Apparently her character is good at martial arts...
Ninja companion! ninja

That's her:

Yeah, well, I looked for a thread on it and couldn't find one. So I figured we might as well have a place to talk about it.

neutral I don't really think she looks like she'll fit the role. I'll just have to wait and see though.

From what I can gather, she's playing a different character. Though how they'll explain the 'uncanny' similarity is beyond me. The alternative universe thing? Or maybe just plain old coincidence...

They did that all the time in the old series -- have an actor play a small role and then be brought back to play a more important character because they impressed the powers that be. wink This actually happened with the Sixth Doctor, Colin Baker! whee

Really, it shouldn't be a problem. She wasn't a very main character in the episode and the average viewer probably won't even remember her. Do her hair a bit differently and nobody would know the difference.

You've got that right. Add to that a completely different character (who knows martial arts! Am I the only one who thinks that's cool?) and yeah, most people wouldn't notice.

Except the whovians.
