 Obie made it to her room and some how managed to get her hands to stop shaking long enough to unlock her door. She fell onto her couch and placed her hands over her face as she began to sob uncontrollably. That had been the hardest thing she had ever had to do, and the scariest. In many ways, dealing with Thanatos had been scarier than dealing with Izumi. There had been so much more to lose with him.

 Jess had been clearing out her room. Not something she was inclined to do often but now things with Kayne were back to normal she was feeling restless. As she went through her shelves of second hand books she found some things that she thought Obie might like to read.
Shoving them into a bag she made her way down to Obie's room and knocked on the door.

Obie looked up sharply at the knock on her door. It was him. She was sure it was. He never gave up easily. Slowly, she got up and walked over to her door. She opened the door only a crack to peek out and see who it was. Seeing Jess on the other side, she sighed in relief and pulled the door open wider, quickly brushing away the tears on her face and trying to stop shaking.
"J-Jess... what are you you doing here?" she asked hoarsely.

Jess frowned when she saw the look on Obie's face and stepped towards her.
"I brought you some books I thought you might like." She said, her eyes flicking to Obie's shaking hands and tears. "Is everything all right Obie?" She asked.

"Th-Thank you," she said, trying to manage a smile as she shut the door behind Jess. When she asked if she was alright, she slouched back against the door and took a deep breath, trying to stave off the fresh wave of tears that were threatening to overtake her.
"Hopefully..." she replied, sniffing and running both of her hands through her hair.

Frowning again Jess put a hand on her shoulder, she could feel the poor girl trembling under her touch. It was clear that things were , or had not been entirely all right.
"Tell me what happened Obie." She said leading the poor girl over to the sofa.

"I didn't seek him out. I've been staying away from him. But I couldn't stand being in my room any longer, so I went to go do some studying in the courtyard. Nato found me and sat down next to me. I tried to leave without saying anything to him, but he makes my blood boil so much. We got into a bit of an argument and I said... some mean things to him and he kind of snapped. Jess... he was just like Izumi," she said, not even paying attention to the fact that she was moving. She shuddered as both boys' sick smiles filtered through her mind and tears began to fall again. "He... he didn't try to hurt me... but their smiles... and what they did to me... " she said and shuddered again, hugging her arms tightly around herself.
"I freaked out. I couldn't breathe I was so scared. Nato ended up picking me up to carry me to my room and the old Nato had returned. I told him I didn't want to see him anymore and he basically asked me if I ever loved him and I told him no. He got angry again and ended up punching the wall beside my head.... I... had never been so scared," she cried.

Jess put her bag ont the floor and listened to her speak. Jess shook her head and moved closer to slide her arm around Obie's shoulders.
"Hey, it's o.k. You need to slow yourself down. Breath in through your nose and out through your mouth slowly.
At the mention of Nato punching the wall Jess was reminded of Kayne that day, when he had hit the wall in the courtyard, when he had dragged her into his room. Inwardly she shook her head. She couldn't believe she was momentarily comparing Kayne. Kayne wasn't anything like this Nato guy, besides she could handle herself.
"It's all right love." She said pulling her into a hug. "It's over now, you are safe, it's all o.k."

Obie nodded and did as Jess instructed, forcing herself to breathe calmly. "I know... I know. I just... I'm glad it happened and I knew it wouldn't be pretty, but I hadn't expected it to be like that. I still fear for him though... he blames Izumi. I'm afraid that something bad is going to happen if he finds him," she said, still trying to breathe normally.

"Blames Izumi for what? His inability to control anger?" Jess said irritably. "If he's stupid enough to go looking for the boy then it's his bed." Moving away a little she kicked off her shoes so she could sit cross legged, always a more comfortable position. "Believe me, revenge solves nothing, it's just a vicious spiral."
Jess gave a heavy sigh and rested her head in her hands. Just what she needed to deal with, psychos with vengence in mind. It was going to be a long summer.
"Just when I had found a reason to smile, morons come along and it all gets ******** up again."

Obie had finally regained a semblance of control and looked up with worry at Jess's comment.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to dump this in your lap. Please... it's okay. I'm okay. Really. I was just shaken up really bad. It just happened moments before you knocked on my door," she said with worry in her eyes. She didn't want to be an unneccessary burden.

"No." He said looking up at Obie. "You don't need to apologise. It was my problem before you got dragged into things.I juts didn't know it. It just makes me so ******** angry. Why can't life just be simple for a change?"
Jess smiled and shook her head again.
"It's o.k Obie, really it is. You know I'm always here if you need to talk. Now you have no excuses, you can escape and try to enjoy your summer. I on the other hand will be relinquishing my ideal romantic setting of white beaches and palm trees to keep an eye on ******** united here at Aquila."

Obie still didn't look convinced. If she hadn't said anything then she wouldn't have known any better and she would be able to enjoy her vacation.
"I don't see why you have to be the one to give up your vacation just because no one will step up to him," she said softly, dropping her red eyes down to her hands in her lap.

"Maybe I don't" Jess said, starting to confuse herself as she tried to think. "Ugh I don't know any more. My head's so crammed wiht personal issues and crap i can7t think straight." She sighed and returned her head to her hands again massaging her temples. "What I do know is that I want you out of here for the summer. If Izumi and Nato decide to have ashowdown i do not want you within a twenty mile radius. They can hurt each other all they like, but I would never forgive myself if you got hurt too. Especially if I was not here."
Falling silent for a bit she let out a groan of frustration and looked up.
"Obie, I ned to talk about something, something that's driving me crazy, if I confide in you can you promise it goes no further?"

Obie looked back up at Jess and managed a small smile. She had never had someone worry so much about her before. But Jess's final words drew another concerned frown from her.
"Of course. If there's one thing I can do, it's keep quiet," she smiled sardonically. A small part of her found it odd that an adult would turn to a teenager to talk to about personal issues. But in a way she felt honored that Jess trusted her so much when she put her own unwavering trust in her.
