Dir en Grey (Diru, or DeG) is a Japanese rock group. One of the best Visual Kei bands in my honest opinion. Their style is uniquely theirs. A very hardcore band with a fierce passion. Anyone else heard of or listen to them?

I've only started to listen to Japanese music, but from what I've heard I do enjoy their music. I like the song Cage a lot.

I'm glad that a foreign band (and by foreign, I don't include UK bands) has finally penetrated the US mainstream, though, I'm not a huge fan. I like them, and I generally like Visual Kei, however, Malice Mizer did it first, and they did it best. They were able to get the balance of japanese-pop, metal, and goth-rock perfectly, and no other band has done it so well since. Dir en grey is good (as was Due Le quartz, and as is Schwarz Stein, Miyavi, etc.), but I'm not huge on them.

The psuedo-old-west themes set them apart from most other v-kei bands.

I agree with Gil. Malice Mizer are the godfathers of Visual Kei.
But that's not to say that I don't love Diru. Their style is different from MM. I do enjoy their music. I haven't listened to them in a while. I might have to bust out some stuff by them soon.
