Outside. Outside in the fields, even better. Gabby inhaled the fresh air and gazed around, her eyes darting over all the flowers in the green green grass. It was still early in the morning and although the sun was shining brightly already, you could still feel the coolness of the morning. It even seemed as if the flowers and other plants had just awoken and were now curling towards the light of the sun. It promised to be another beautiful summer day; warm but not suffocating. Later in the day the fields would probably be swamped with playing children, young families picnicking in the grass and dogs running around. But for now she was alone. Well, almost alone, as usual Sil was only a few steps behind her, keeping a close watch on her.

She loved his company, she loved having always one to babble to, even though he wasn’t really talking back. But that was a detail, a tiny unimportant detail. And mommy let her go out alone much more often now she had Sil to go with her, another huge plus since sneaking away was fun but also tiring!

What were the plans for the day? She hadn’t any yet, like usual. Gabby never made plans, she did whatever popped up in her head at that right moment, impulsive and spontaneous as she was. Maybe they could dance around in the fields together. Dancing was something she loved to do now. And not just dancing, singing too! She had a rather nice voice; strong but not too sharp. Mommy always said it was the bird part of her that had granted her with her voice. And dancing, well dancing was something any girl should love! It didn’t matter if you was good at it or not, nor whether you made the right movements, dancing was something that was supposed to come straight from the heart.

“Come on Silly!” Gabby chanted as she grabbed his hands and began to drag him around, happily twirling around a couple of times, “You never like to dance do you?” She added giggling when she saw the stubborn look on the dragon’s face. “Fine, fine then I’ll dance alone!” She pouted jokingly before she continued to twirl, arms high above her head. She was wearing her pink summery dress and the simple straw-hat she had bought earlier that week.

Sil curled up under a tree in the shadow and watched his friend. He had managed to escape the dancing part this time. Thank god, but next time he probably wouldn’t be as lucky. Silenias pawed at one of the many flowers in the grass and lazily leaned back, keeping his eyes half open so that he still had Gabby in his view. She was enjoying herself and to Sil that was all that mattered. "Merr.."

When summer comes, many children make the most out of the classic opportunity by staying up late and sleeping in the next day. However, Paxton unlike most children found sleeping in to be something he disliked rather much. Perhaps it was because of his DNA, that internal alarm clock to rise up at the crack of dawn with the sun. Well whatever it was, his summer days started early. No exception with this one either. It had been seven when he had awakened, seven thirty when he had knocked on Gabby's door (found her to be not at home...angery mother), now it was 8 o'clock sharp as he wandered onto the field.

Heh, it was almost an unrealistic scene which lay before him. Gabby with her arms above her head dancing in the soft glow of the morning light. Wow. That was the only word that Paxton could think of, as his mind tried to comprehend just how pretty Gabby looked. It was Marigold his dragon whom brought him back to it. A soft n** from here, "Yowch!" Paxton didn't say it too loudly but he gave Marigold a stern look. The dragon didn't care, she had seen that look on Paxton's face. She didn't like it. No. Not one bit. Marigold was a wonderful dragon for the boy. Even though she was young for her specifies, like most gold dragons she was already incredibly wise. She kept her charge in line....her charge, comical really to think that it was Paxton who cared for her, when she was the one whom kept him from getting completely carried away.

"Don’t worry Mari" Paxton smiled at his dragon. "I just have to give this book back to Gabby..." In his hand he held up the 'The Book of Dragons', yes, the same one Gabby had left at his house all those months ago. Had it really been that long since he had last scene her? Paxton looked down at the ground as he shamefully kicked at a small daisy. Yes, it had. He was really horrible, wasn't he? After all the nasty things he had said to her, it had taken him this long to come and apologize.

Yet, being late was better than never, was it not? Paxton looked over...Gabby was still dancing. With a smile he quietly snuck up on his lovely counterpart. It appeared she was still the same as ever. Heh, that was Gabby for you from the day they had first met she hadn't changed. She was and probably always would be the one constant in his life. Knowing this brought a smile to his face, he would never tire of Gabby, he would never turn his back on her as he had once done.

"...Mind if I cut in?" Came Paxton's smooth voice, he was trying to turn on as much charm as he could muster. His left hand stretched out catching Gabby by the shoulder.

She didn’t mind that there was no music; the music was in her head and with that all around her. She was dancing on the rhythm of the chirping birds around her, on the sound of the leaves cracking in the wind. It was probably because of these sounds surrounding her that she didn’t hear the footsteps nearing her. No, to Gabby the tap on her shoulder came as a total surprise.

To Sil, however, it didn't. He had heard the two approaching from far and had watched them with his curiosity growing and growing with every step the two took. The one looked a lot like Gabby, he even had the same pink streaks as she did, a male version of Gabby it seemed. Personality wise, too? The other, the one that had caught his main attention, was a dragon. She (yes Sil could tell that this one was definitely a female) was smaller than him and had a bright golden colour. A colour that reminded him of early spring flowers blooming in the high grass. Shiny and sparkly, a colour Gabby would love. "Kyaa?"

Mind if I cut in? Mind if I cut in? She knew that voice from somewhere although it had been a few months since she had last heard it. She tossed her head aside so that she could look over her shoulder and gasped when her eye fell on the blonde hair, the pink streaks, the huge wings, his smiling face. She had missed that face! It had been ages ago, but of course she remembered their fight. It had been terrible. No, the word terrible didn't do justice to it. It had been horrendous. But yet, he stood there as if nothing had happened! He had grown taller, but so had she. And the pink streaks were still there. Gabby’s lips curled into a small smile and she let out a giggle, "Can you dance, then?” She replied happily, beaming up at him before she let out one of her high squeals and almost tackled him down to the ground in one huge hug. “PAXTON!! YOU! Oh my god Paxton, you grew taller and you have your dragon now too! Your egg hatched just like mine! Oh my, it’s so pretty! She, it’s a she, right? Well, she should meet Sil!”

She was rambling again, but she couldn’t help it. She couldn’t stop beaming either, “Well, you wanted to dance! Now come on then!” Laughing she stood up straight again and held out her hand to her look-alike. "We'll have to do without music unless we can get our dragons to sing." She added cheerfully, twirling around once more and grabbing him by the hand.

Finally! Would things get back in order now? Wouldn't he be angry with her anymore? Would they continue to be friends like they had been before? Maybe they could go back to the park again someday, where they had first met in their toddler time! That one wonderful day seemed so long ago now.

"Of coarse I can da--" The lovebird was promptly cut off by a hug which, needless to say, knocked the wind out of him. The boy let out a soft and covert cough as he stumbled back a few steps. 'Don't loose balance, don't loose balance...' Really, he didn't want to look like a fool in front of Gabby. He didn't want to look like a fool in front of anyone really, however, it always managed up some how that he did. Ah well, maybe he would be lucky today?

A few moments of skidding and a couple of misplaced mounds of earth later, Paxton had finally managed to get a hold of himself and his partner. He was a bit taller than her, just the perfect height to wrap his arms around her in a loose hug. He chuckled under his breath. The book once in his hand now slipped between his fingers as he struggled to hold onto it. Wait a minute, what was he doing worrying about books when he had a pretty girl around him? He let the thing drop.

"Heeey, slow down there Gabby." The boy gave a wink as he looked down at her. "Ya trying to kill a fella?" He knew it was silly banter, useless too, he could have chosen to talk about anything...but flirting conversation was the only thing that would currently come to his lips. He opened his mouth to change the subject...but in the end he choked.

"I...erm, eh--dur...Yeah! Yeah, she's a girl." He turned to look at Marigold who stared back with reproachful eyes. "I see ya got your dragon too...he--orm she," he wasn't quite sure what it was. "Is either handsome, slash, pretty." Boy, was he really butchering it today with the speech.

So when the opportunity came to act instead of speak, he was thankful. He didn't resist as she grabbed him and gladly followed as she pulled him out onto the field. Yes, let her do the first bit of leading...that was always the rule, see where things were going...then act. Under his breath he laughed as the thought struck him. “Wow…lucky me, I came to return your book and say sorry, and here I am getting to dance with a lovely gal.”

Gabby couldn’t suppress a smile when he returned her hug and she snuggled up to him for a few seconds while a warm feeling spread across her. She had missed Paxton so much—he was her look-alike, her counterpart, one of her best friends! When he asked her to slow down, she giggled and nodded as she tried to slow down her pace a little. She was more the quick dancer; she loved putting all her energy in it, just dancing like crazy as if you were totally free. But, well, she alsos knew that her energy level was very much above the average level and that probably also counted for her 'insanity level'.

“I never saw my dancing as a weapon!” She replied in a giggly way, “But if you say so, not trying to kill you though—just trying to show you how fun dancing can be.” Of course Gabby had missed the flirty part in his voice, unlike her lovebird friend, she still had the innocence of a child and the hormones hadn’t really gotten to her yet.

“She is a gorgeous dragon! Gold and shiny, she’s so insanely cute!” Her gaze was fixed on the golden creature before it moved to Silenias, “Oh he’s a he.. I mean, yeah, a boy, so I guess we should go for the handsome part! He’s a Silly boy!” She took a pause to grin before she continued blabbing: “We’ve already taken a class together and he just about goes everywhere I go! Mom makes him go with me a lot, but I love being in his company!” Meanwhile Silenias watched the two lovebirds as they danced and chatted, although he couldn’t help the fact that the other dragon took most of his attention. He hadn’t met that much others yet after all, of course there was Re but that was about it!

Gabby continued to lead the dance—they were now almost in the middle of the fields. She pulled his hand up so that she could twirl under it, “A book? You came to return a book? How so? The only book I can think of is the one I gave you, but that was a gift! And I should say sorry too, although, don’t get mad again, I still thinks it looks good.” Her eyes went over the pink tips and she smiled widely. “But it was an evil thing to do..” She nodded before she unexpectedly pulled on his hand again to continue their dance.

Ah, so Gabby had gotten a silver boy and he had gotten a golden girl. The lovebird found it slightly odd. He and Gabby were so alike it only seemed natural they would have gotten the same type of dragons, or at least the same gender. Then again, it was D-corp whom decided these things, and like all things in Paxton's life, didn't ever seem to make any sense.

"A silly boy? I hope you don't think that all boys are silly." The lovebird stuck out his tongue briefly as they continued on their dance. It was nice letting Gabby just pull him around while he teased and talked with her. He didn't have to think very much, everything was just flowing natural. His growing experiences were defiantly helping with the confidence. Besides, with her energy level it was best if she do the leading.

"It was a gift?" The a blonde eyebrow raised half a centimeter in surprise, while Gabby ducked under his hovering arm. "I thought--I-" despite being confident his inability to articulate well showed his true age. "Oh wow I feel...dumb." A embarrassed yet gentle smile snuck across his red face. "--And please Gabby, don't say sorry. You don't have to apologize. Lesse here...Ah! " Taking a few steps back Paxton put the dance on hold.

Looking about the field, his brown eyes eventually fell upon a small and wonderful wild rose. It was near the edge, but...it was perfect. Pink too! Gabby's favorite color an every thing. A bit of jogging and Paxton returned holding the wonder in his hand. "For you!" He said, carefully placing the delicate masterpiece in Gabby's hair.

"It's not much of an apology....or a gift. But, " he paused to catch his breath and stroke the side of her cheek with his fingers, close he was leaning in awfully close, "...it was too pretty to pass up. Just like you." With that the boy moved in and stole a kiss on Gabby's lips. It was perfect, and he knew it. The timing, the atmosphere, the whole feel was right. Besides, he had just been dying to do that since he had seen her...

Meanwhile near Silenias, Marigold yawned and curled up, placing her hands over her eyes. She would have nothing to do with this.

Gabby giggled, shook her head and raised her eyebrows slightly at his comment about guys being silly. “No you, you silly!” She paused to giggle some more and roll her eyes at hime, “His name is Silenias, or Sil, so Silly is kind of his nickname.” She explained happily as she continued to dance with him, now in a more constant pace. They still had so much to talk about; she didn’t want to tire him out with just dancing!

Paxton’s suddenly stop confused the lovebird girl and her confusion only grew as she watched him running off without a word. Had she done something wrong or should she have slowed down even more? Well, no, he was jogging like mad so he couldn’t be drained from all his energy yet. Thankfully the girl didn’t have to wait long for her answers: within a few minutes Paxton had returned, now holding a fine flower. Her eyes lit up when she heard it was for her, a gift!

Gabby tried to stand still the best she could as he stuck the flower in her curling hair. She giggled, smiled warmly and giggled some more during the process before she carefully gave him a ‘thank you’ hug, making sure not too harm the oh so pretty but fragile flower. “I think that it is the best gift I ever got, no one ever gave me a flower and it is pink!” She was beaming from happiness and was so totally unaware of Paxton coming closer and closer. Of course she felt his hand on her cheek but Gabby saw it as a symbol of friendship. Heck, the girl didn’t even really know what flirting was, let alone she could recognise it!

The kiss, warm and, well, wet, puzzled the girl. Her mom had given her a kiss before, more than once, but that had just been on her cheeks. Mom had also warned her: ‘when an old creepy stinky man tries to kiss you scream “FIRE” and run as fast as your feet can carry you’. But Paxton wasn’t old, nor creepy and he smelled pretty good actually, so she was clueless what to do! Maybe she should just ask, yes, asking was the best way to learn!

“P-Paxton! What’s that?” She asked while pulling away slightly. “When mom wishes me goodnight she kisses me on the cheek, but this is different, it’s weird!” She blinked and stared at him with her blue eyes.

Sil watched it all happen with a dumbfounded expression on his face. Was he supposed to protect her now? That boy was standing way too close to his friend, would Asryane want him to bump in? He got up halfway and then quickly looked at the gold creature. She was covering her eyes? What for? Had she seen this happening before? Was she used to it by now? Wasn’t it a bad thing after all? “Arrey!” With a friendly and grunt he tried to gain her attention, thinking she would be able to explain one or two things.

Oh no, had he overstepped his bounds? Paxton stepped back as Gabby did, this would give her a bit more room. She suddenly seemed...very unsure and nervous, it was as if she hadn't been ready. Well, duh, who would be? It was very complex for the lovebird. Sometimes he remembered and acted his age and sometimes he liked to skip ahead in time, then on occasion he would totally break down and act like a little kid agian. Right now was one of those occasions he was being older than he actually was, however, it was around Gabby...one of his friends. It suddenly struck him, not all of his friends would appreciate the part of him that was grown up.

"It-uh-I..."Now ashamed, Paxton looked for a scapegoat, but nothing was to be found. Talk with the dragons had died down and--besides it was rude to just leave someone hanging after they had asked you a question. Should he reply truthfully? Or would that just make his counterpart more uncomfortable than she was---WHY WERE THINGS SO COMPLEX ALL OF A SUDDEN!? If only there were someone else to blame besides his own stupidity.

Eventually the boy decided to fess up, honesty was the best policy after all...besides, if he didn't tell his friends who would? Certainly not their parents, he knew that for sure. Every time he asked Naito an uncomfortable question she would shove a pillow in his face and start laughing even though there was nothing really funny going on. "Iee--It was a kiss!" Smiled Paxton.

Now to explain it to her in a way that wouldn't completely terrify or scare, "It means I really like you," He came to at length. Taking a step in again, Paxton took Gabby's hand and gave it a soft squeeze, "Sorry...I shouldn't have done it," He looked away shly now rubbing the back of his neck, "I guess I just wanted to let you know..." It had been hard to say that, but deep down it just felt right. Anything else would have been wron--"OWCH!"

Paxton jumped back as Marigold took a n** at the back of his leg. She had been no fool, watching from afar, she had removed her blindfold just in time to watch her owner make an idiot of himself. 'Hmnf' she had given Sil an annoyed look when he had turned to her. Why wasn't he already over there? Slowly she had gotten up and tottered over to where the boy was and gave him a piece of her mind, and then for the first time ever--"Gouud" she spoke.

While the boy was struggling with his words, Gabby was still in a bit of a confused state. It hadn’t been bad and Gabby certainly wasn’t scared, the reason why she had stepped away was simply because it had surprised her and because it was new to her. Now Gabby didn’t generally dislike new things and so after only a few seconds the dazzled expression in her eyes made place for a more curious one while she let the words of her counterpart sink in.

He said it meant he liked her? So people kissed when they liked each other? That was kind of what mommy had told her, although then she hadn’t known there was such a big difference between kisses! Not that it mattered, now she knew and that was good enough. So, since people were supposed to kiss each other when they liked each other, she now knew what to do exactly!

Giggling she leaned forward and gave him a light and brief kiss on the lips back. She’d definitely have to get used to that different kissing. “There, means I really like you as well!” She exclaimed then, before she carefully touched the flower in her hair and twirled around once more.

In the thrill of all the things happening she had missed that the Gold dragon had finally gotten on her feet. Paxton’s scream made her jump a little as well but she began to giggle as soon as she saw what was going on, “Uh oh, I think you upset her a wee bit! Maybe she wants a kiss as well.”

Silenias had shadowed the Gold dragon and was now standing in between her and Gabby. “Yiiaa.” This Golden dragon was a little weird, but apparently she understood much more of the situation than he did. A thought he didn’t like. “Urr?” He took a step forward to the dragon and tilted his head, hoping she’d understand the hint.

Grr. Stupid dragon getting in the way of his--Paxton was about to shout out something quite possibly mean and nasty to Marigold, when Gabby came back in for a surprise attack kiss.

"Mmn?!" Slightly Frozen, Paxton didn't even have time to close his eyes and enjoy the kiss before Gabby had pulled away. Suddenly his face burned and he hoped for the love of god Gabby couldn't see him blushing, cause, he was pretty sure he was.

Boy wasn't sure why he was suddenly all in a twitter...I mean, a kiss was a kiss...it didn't change from person to person. Did it? Oh man, Paxton was sure he could melt right now in one happy bubbly mess on the floor and be satisfied forever. Too bad Gabby kind of ruined the moment, for Paxton at least. "Huh?”

Perplexed brown eyes dropped down and looked over at Marigold. "Erm...Gabby--" Paxton looked back over at the...naive, yes, naive girl. "It...it doesn't really work like that--" he started in, but soon realized the argument would probably be pointless. Sigh, what's a fella to do?

Marigold knew exactly what to do. It was time to end this merriment before it went any farther. She knew...well, she knew Paxton too darn well! Child was nothing but trouble. Now to explain this to her companion in dragon, a language, which Paxton could never pick up on. "Boy is trouble. You keep girl away from him." There. That should have explained the situation perfectly. Marigold wasn't really a talkative dragon, not to mention fairly young...she didn't know that much, but what she did know, she thought she had said rather well.

That said, the creature began herding the lovebird off. “Ma-theeer…” came a soft whispering prompt. Paxton had things to do today with Naito…
