Hello my lovely! Tamora Pierce is an amazing writer. I especially like the Protector of the Small quartet, and the Circle Opens quartet. I didn't particulary like The Immortals quartet or the Trickster's Choice and Queen. I've read all of her works except for the Will of the Empress. However, I love all of her books though some are much better than others. 3nodding

I actually prefered Songs of the Lioness and Trickters. I also read Protector of the Small but it just didn't captivate me as much as Songs of the Lioness. I mean I liked it and would re-read it but....there's something about Songs of the Lioness especially that is amazing.

Alanna the Loness was definetly my favorite. That was my favorite series for while. Trickster's Queen didn't appeal to me much, it didn't have enough romance. I'm big on that xp Same with Protecter of the Small, but that series was also missing something that Alanna had...can't put my finger on it though...

*SPOILER WARNING* I liked all of her books but 'Trickster's Choice'. I have yet to read 'Trickster's Queen' and 'Will of the Empress'. 'Trickster's Choice' just wasn't very engaging. It dragged on and on, and I had to force myself through it. I got partway through 'Trickster's Queen' before quitting that. I have tried to re-read 'Trickster's Choice' several times, hoping that I will feel differently about it afterward, but I continue to quit time after time. I am currently trying again, and considering quitting again as well. 'Song of the Lioness' had a lot of adventure. However, Alanna had WAY too much help. And it was too unrealistic. It wasn't fair to the other characters. But nevertheless it was a good series. 'The Immortals' and 'Protecter of the Small' were spectacular. The complete circle series, as far as I've read, was VERY interesting and engaging. But I felt bad for Ben in 'Cold Fire' . . . poor Ben.
My favorite character: Numair Salmalin. I like how he's not so smooth. Clumsy describes him well. Hooray for a touch of reality!
My favorite book: 'Emperor Mage'. I was SO angry when Numair supposedly "was executed". I felt like thowing the book on the floor, stomping on it, yelling at it, and basically demolishing it. But I was at Grandma's house in front of a whole lot of people . . . and the book was rented from my school's media center.
Tammy's biggest mistake (in my opinion): She NEVER kills off her main character's. I think that's partially why she's writing 'The Provost's Dog'. And make Alanna LOSE for once. Really . . .
Yeah, great books. They were the first ones for me to obsess over. whee

I agree. The Protector of the Small did miss something that the others had. My favorite was the others... yeah.

My favorite of her books were The Protector of The Small and The Immortals quarterets. The Song Of The Lioness is alright, however a bit to much romance for my taste. I hate the Tricksters Choice books, and didnt think very much of the Circle opens books, they were to short for my taste, and a few other things I didnt like about them.
I love all her books that take place in Torrtal. ( Gah, I forgot how to spell it. XD))

Wow, I guess I have read all of her books.
My favorite of Pierce's is definitely the Circle of Magic quartet. And, unlike many of you here, I really did like Trickster's Choice. If anything, Trickster's Queen bored me more (though by 'more' I mean 'very little', so to speak).
Aside from those, I liked the Immortals quartet, especially Wild Mage. Magic Steps, from the Circle Opens quarter, is also a favorite, as is Will of the Empress (I've taken this book back out many times with the intent of rereading my favorite parts, but I always end up rereading the entire book each time).
I think it's spelled 'Tortall'.

I've read all of her books except for the newest, Terrier. I've enjoyed them all and especially liked the Protector of the Small series.

I really liked Terrier. I don't know, I guess I was getting a little bored with magic and mythical creatures solving everything. The style did kind of bug me, though. It was so much different from what I'm used to from her.
To anybody who's read through Song of the Lioness and the other Tortall quartets: have you noticed how much stronger she became? Alanna was kind of weak, not bad-but you could tell she hadn't established herself yet. And then the more of her books you read, you can see where she's grown as a writer.

I think she succeeded with the Diary/journal format to tell you the truth. It is much harder to actually do but I'm glad she at least attempted it. Terrier was interesting to begin with, it held the mystical qualities but with more a physical area surrounding it.
I love how she uses strong female protagonists but I couldn't help thinking there could have been more to the book. I didn't like how it ended sweatdrop .

my favorite was Protector of the Small, but maybe thats because it was the first one I read...the third one, Squire. I was really dissapionted when i realized that there were other books set in Tortall before Kel, so basically it ruined all the suspense when I read those, because i knew who married and who got killed crying

Out of all her books it's a really hard choice but, if I really had to choose a quartet it would be the Song of the Lioness. My least favorite in that series would have to The Woman Who Rides Like a Man, it bored me a little bit in the middle. My least favorite series would have to be the Circle Opens. Although I really liked The Will of the Empress.
