The honey coloured lioness was at her usual spot, she rarely left it. Her blue eyes seemed dimmer, as if they had lost the enthusiasm they had once had. Her pelt wasn't as shiny nor healthy and she wasn't looking healthy in any way, her body was becomming skinny and all in all, she was making herself ill.
Her head was on her paws, a soft sigh escaped her maw. She wanted her family back, she wanted her life back but now things were changing. The honey coloured lioness lost her daughter when she was so young, then Mbali and Mbaya and Mchele has his own family, it was if she wasn't needed anymore.
She let her mind wander, thinking, wondering. She missed the old days where she wandered around with Mahiri, oh they were the days, back then when everything seemed so right.((If you want to join, PM me))

The chocolate and ivory male had spent many days with his children, long effortless days playing games with Malaika or attempting to give Mbaya some manners. He was aware of the departure of two of his cubs, and respected their decision. He had no doubt life would be easier for the two other cubs, however his heart ached because they'd never even bothered to say goodbye. Although Mbali was a little well, strange, and Mbaya was downright rude, he couldn't help but feel the love every father should feel for their child, and he bowed his head silently in thought.
His great paws continued to push him foward along the dusty ground of the Pridelands, and with a sudden pang his mind wondered to his mate. He hadn't seen her of late, and was worried about her condition. He knew the departure of both the cubs and how desperately she missed Kiburi was affecting her mentally, and it killed him inside to see her depressed. Kiburi, that was yet another wound that refused to heal, and when he thought of her pale juvenile face it was as if the wound was stinging, burning. Tears collected in his red-brown eyes. How old would she be now?
Mahiri kept walking, blinking away the tears. Suddenly his wistful gaze fell upon the spot he had almost passed without any recognition, her spot, his lovers place. Purring, he approached her honey figure, but as he saw her dim eyes and thin body his mouth almost fell open. He was an intelligent male but it didn't take much to see that Bakhti was making herself ill. Each second his eyes clinged to her figure was another second of pain.
"Bakhti." The adult could barely whisper, his throat sore and his heart aching. "How are you?" He crouched down beside her, nuzzling her neck gently.

She hadn't noticed her mate not even his scent had been sparked any recognition in her. She was too lost at that point to even care, some rouge could have killed her right then and she wouldn't have known.
His voice woke her up though and she looked up into those deep eyes of his, she had always fallen into this trance looking into those eyes, asif those eyes could save her from anything including death its self. A smile crawled across her maw, the first proper smile for a while, but yet it wasn't.
"Mahiri, we are grandparents..." She had to tell him whether it was Mcheles wishes for her to or not but his eyes meant she couldn't keep anything from him, it was as if she was naked infront of him, she couldn't hide anything.

He saw her gaze and stared right back. It was as if her grey-blue eyes could hypnotize him too, her beautiful orbs lulled him into a sense of security he had not felt since his mother. That was another wound, another thing he refused to mention. He supressed a shudder at the thought of his mothers wounded body, his mind wondering back to Bakhti. She hadn't answered his question, and he felt even more worried.
"Grandparents?" He suddenly felt estactic, happiness masking the heartache for a moment, a grin appearing on his maw. "Mchele?" The male asked. "Wow." For a moment, he almost felt old. His gaze fell onto Bakhti after the moment of exictement and his eyes reached hers. "But Bakhti, how have you been coping? I'm worried about you..."

"Three cubs, two girls and a boy..." She trailed off and let go of the gaze. She looked at her reflection in the water. "One of the girls has my eyes... and.. oh. He is lucky." She was refusing the question most obviously. She didn't want to admit to herself that she hadn't been coping, even though her body was in the state it was in.
She felt like getting away, maybe she needed something like a holiday, to get away from the pridelands, after all it was the pridelands that her memoires were and, she needed to get away for a bit, but she wouldn't admit that either. She didn't want to admit anything.

"They sound lovely, and I bet that little female is very lucky to have your beautiful eyes." He cocked his head, his long mane falling around his shoulders as he looked deeply into her eyes again. His large body dropped to be closer to her, nuzzling against her side he could feel her breathing. Tears sparkled at the corners of his red eyes, but they didn't fall. For once Mahiri had seen too much heartbreak, worried too much for another to mourn his losses. It was his turn to take a role and protect the one he loved.
"Bakhti, I love you, remember that. Also remember you can tell me anything." His breathing was a little irregular, blinking away tears that were still clinging desperately to his eyes. "Just talk to me. It kills me to see you like this."

Bakhti rested her head against his chest, feeling his heartbeat and strange breathing. "I am sorry... I can't cope can I? Kib, Mbaya, Mbali... all three gone. I just want a litter that will stay, I want a family to be together.. but no..." She let her mind wander back to the birth of Mchele and Kiburi and oh how amazing it was, her two cubs and then Kib left.
She then let her mind wander to her second chance, now with half her litter gone. "Why do they hate me?" She let the tears flow.
She had been fighting the tears ever since Mahiri had arrived but now they won, she lost her will to fight them and let them flow from her eyes without even attempting to hold them back anymore.

Walking through the Pridelands, Kirjava was looking for someone or rather, two lions. Crimson eyes gazed over the scenery, taking in it's peaceful nature with a weary gaze. This felt so wrong to her, she was invading another's territory, but she had a purpose. Taking a deep breath, she continued on her quest with her son by her side. "Come on Ravi, we need to find Kib's parents to pass along the news." When she looked at her son, it made her swell with pride at how he was slowly getting used to being around others.
Golden eyes looked up at his mom and Ravi smiled. He missed his Auntie Kib. He wanted to see her again! Nodding his head, he walked next to his mother before his ears perked up, "Mom, I think I hear others."

Tears flowed openly from his own scarlet eyes. "Its not really a matter of coping, I doubt anyone could forget the pain and heartache of this situation. Theres little we can do but remember the good times we had with our children." He thought of Mbaya and her rude and ignorant behaivor. Despite a fathers love for his cubs, she would always remain as the bad apple.
"They don't hate you. Hate can be a very deceptive emotion." Although intelligent he spoke now from personal experience. "Hate is too strong a word. I believe they were caught up in the fact that they were unable to do as they wished constantly. Mbaya needed to follow her own selfish impulses, and Kiburi was simply curious, wishing to experience true freedom."
As he mentioned his name, he felt a twinge of deep emotion that her memory so often aroused. Nuzzling his mate gently, Mahiri could do nothing but cry along with her, their tears mixing and dampening their fur.
A new scent crossed his nostrils and he raised his head for a breif moment. It was the scent of no-one in the pride, an outsider? "Hello?" He called out.

She listened to his words and let out a soft sigh. Her children were leaving her, how can they love her and leave her it was as if she wasn't needed anymore and she hated the feeling of being useless, she despised it.
She caught the scent of the other female and the cub but she didn't stir or move. She was happy where she was for now as not much really mattered to her right now. Two daughters and a son, gone.

As Kirjava heard the greeting, she replied, "Hello!" Tentatively walking closer towards the two lions, crimson eyes took in the golden female and the white and brown male. It was then that she realized that they had found Kib's parents. A sudden feeling rose in her throat as she got a closer look at the lioness...her sister's mother. She seemed so devastated. Could she really tell the truth now that she is seeing what it's doing to Kib's parents. Stopping a good distance away, she didn't want to invade their personal space as she asked, "Would you happen to be...Bakhti and Mahiri, would you?"
Ears flicked as Ravi followed close to his mother. While she replied for them, his golden eyes darted to the left and to the right while he stayed quiet. But, as he spotted the pair his mother was conversing with, his eyes got wide. They looked just like his Auntie Kiburi! Even the golden lioness shared the same eyes! Excited at this prospect, "Look Mom, she has Auntie Kiburi's eyes!"

He lowered his head, and a few chocolate bangs of mane hung over his eyes. Bearing a painful look, he nuzzled his mate. Please cheer up...He thought to himself. It was all he could wish for. He knew the pain of his childrens departure, however her seemed to cope more, and pushed the events to the back of his mine, keeping his children as fond memories. But old scars run deep.
His gaze was turned to the red lioness as he heard a rather friendly reply. A fake smile flew onto his maw purely for greeting. As he questioned their identity, his ears swivelled to face her, expression curious. "We are, yes."
The young red and emerald cub was obviously the lionesses cub, and bore a beautifully unique pelt. Setting appearences aside, he aimed to grin at the cub with a soft greeting. He heard the words "Auntie Kiburi" and his heart skipped a beat. "K-kiburi?" He stuttered. It couldn't be the same Kiburi, it couldn't be. However it was obvious, as Kiburi always did possess the beautiful eyes of her mother.

Bakhti had been shocked at the arrival of the other, no shocked isn't the word, there wasn't one to describe it and then the overwhelming sickness that brushed over her as the youngster spoke her daughters name.
She rose her body, leaning on Mahiri to help her get up she looked intensly at the female who presented herself. "Please tell me who you are and news of my daughter." She had no doubt it was her Kib, after all, this lioness knew both Mahiri and her own names, that must mean something.

Crimson eyes watched the couple closely, noticing their distress. Kirjava wasn't sure she could do this, they looked too heartbroken to hear any sugarcoated lies that her sister wanted her to tell her family. As she stood there debating what to do, it seems that her son got their attention. A slight nod as she replied, "It would seem so, Ravi." Turning her attention back towards the couple, she gave them a small smile before speaking, "I am Kirjava and this is my son, Ravi. I am so happy to of found you both so easily, it makes me nervous wandering through a pride's territory. My sister, Kiburi, wanted me to pass on news to her parents." She paused as she felt her son nuzzle her front left gently with his head, "Kiburi and I grew up and shared many experiences, she helped me in my time of need and I did the same with her. She helped me birth my son as well as raise him for a short while. But, I don't think I could lie to you about her present state even if it meant I would break a promise..." Her voice trailed off slowly before she would continue.
Ravi could tell this was hard for his mother and hoped that by rubbing his head against her leg. Then, as he listen, his golden eyes roamed over the two lions. His Auntie Kiburi's parents. They were so big! As his mother stopped talking, he picked up, "Auntie Kiburi was the best! I told her that I'd protect my Mommy and her from the bad guys! She played games with me, and I miss my Auntie Kiburi! I wish we didn't have to leave her." He was still young and inexperienced in many areas of life, but his hard life didn't change his personality one bit. But, he never took noticed that he looked a bit different than any of the cubs in this area, and if he had, he would soon realize just how much the past would come back to haunt him.

He neared her, limbs tense. She was to bring news? Even ounce of his being willed Kirjava to give them good news, but her look mean Mahiri almost knew the truth. As she started speaking, a fact he only considered breifly was brought up. She's grown up. My little princess. His vision slid to the side to include Bakhti. Our little princess. Kiburi and this lioness had grown up. How beautiful Kiburi must be... He almost purred.
The news hadn't been so bad, and he was suprised to hear that Kiburi had even aided the lioness to birth her son. And they were sisters. He smiled for a moment, a flicker of happiness visible in his eyes. They had loved one another to accept each other as siblings. His eyes darkened as he heard the red-pelted lionesses voice falter. Her current state...
A wave of sickness passed over him, his large frame swaying as he felt queasy with worry. Please be alright... Tears almost appeared in his eyes at the cubs innocent speech. They seemed to share some good times, but who were these "Bad guys". His voice was shaking. "G-Go on..."
