Edgar vs. The Heart of the Dominion

FIGHT!
PostPosted: Wed Jun 28, 2006 8:08 pm

The man that calmly walked forth from the northern gates was a construction of several blended into one. His features were both efeminate and demonic, but he seemed to be male. Long silver dreads hung down behind him, ut the front of his hair was turned up into a curl, two spaces vacant save for the two bony horns. From a scaled back two large blood red wings extended, metallic in nature but with all the details of those of natural creation, passing between the silvery dreads. The coloration of both his right hand and face were slightly crimson while the rest of his body was a dull brown, wisps of shadow flitting about his form and a ruby of considerably size floating in the air about him. He wore no clothes, his hide much like that of a beast, though he did have certain swells about his chest, further skewing the line between male and female.

A robed figure with a staff entered into the arena. His upper chest being thrown about very unusualing with each step as it slightly bounces as well. Was this truly a man may be the question? Soon the answer may be found out. For now though, he asked one single important question that more was important than anything else in the world, "Got a smoke?"

He glances down and pats pockets which simply are not there, and gives a shrug, "Not unless you've tacked a pocket to my a** containing a pack and I didn't notice it." He yawned as he flicked his wrist, sending a small orb of light towards his opponent, which would cross the distant at a speed fitting of light itself, and explode on proximity. The ruby floating about him took on a slight glow as he waited to see the results, a Crimson Mist pooling about his feet.

While the man spoke, Edgar put the hood of his robe over his head. Then the explosion happened. It would be some time before his opponent could see the effects of the explosion. What had happened was nothing more than a few sizzles on Edgar's robe. Clearly this wasn't a normal robe.

Under the cover of the explosion, a blue ball of immense energy emerged forth from it towards the red crystal. It's diameter would be equal to half of Edgar's height. The speed it approached could possibly rival that of which the orb of light came toward Edgar. The power that the ball carried could possibly destroy the crystal. The intention was to eliminate it as a possible second weapon that could have been used.

After the explosion would clear, Edgar would likely be seen with both his arms crossed together, inlaying wrists with the palms facing outward, with his staff in his teeth.

~Get Out Alive by Three Days Grace~

((Ignore the real meaning and take my perspective. Running from Mindblaze is the easiest way to survive. XD))

Through a simple means of teleportation based upon psionic principles the thoughts of Mindblaze were transmitted through the crystal and refracted, producing a psionic effect. One might see this as an instant transmission, the mechanics not given here because the author is loathe to subject anyone to such, a crimson glow left in its wake. Once the instant transmission of the crystal only was complete, the ball of energy flying on to slam into something else of little importance, it began firing small pulses of telekinetic force, insubstantial bullets seen only by a streaking blur of crimson.

The single man began to advance, his features blurring while Crimson Mist spread outwards from his form at an exponential rate. It was getting more difficult to pinpoint him as light and shadow began to enshroud his 'corner' of the arena. This basiinfinite number of tiny mirrors while shadows of some substantial degree flooded through the matrix. In fact Mindblaze was actually several feet behind where he looked to be by the presentation of the light.

The silvery dreads hanging down his back began to writhe and change, lifting as two crimson blades were formed at each end of two longer dreads. Stretching out beside him they created a constant melee defensive. The bones in his right hand seemed to shift and change, a blade of sorts pulling out from behind his wrist, an aptly named wristblade that fused with his forearm. In his left hand sparks of black lightning could be seen, a spell taking shape already, infused with light, shadows, and magically infused disease. Within the Crimson Mist, his aura was displaced to further the smoke and mirrors effect of his projection. The shadows seemed to be gobbling up sounds and he had no smell. He was hidden well in his own little area of influence, the ruby shard not staying in any place too long, further adding to disorientating effects as a crimson trail and spurts were left in its wake.

The man stepped back a little as the first shot was fired. And came up with a solution. He crossed both his arms together, inlaying wrists with the palms facing outward. He started forming a similar ball of energy as before. However, this time. He was moving it around strangely. Oddly, the moving is in tune with the telekinetic bullets.

What was happening? He was blocking the shots from the crystal using the ball. Essentially, canceling the bullets out while the ball was not fired. Instead, it was starting to grow bigger than the first one that was shot at the crystal earlier.

After the third shot the 'bullets' ceased, the observation being that they seemed almost useless, if not counterproductive. As the distortion continued to grow a cycle began, the temperature droping dramatically in a mere instant. It was as if God had decided to hit the divine AC. The distortion was drawing in the heat as it continued to obscure Mindblaze's location. Winds began to howl as nature tried to correct this imbalance, drawing in more heat to be consumed. Beyond this the ground underfoot seemed to heat, a bit of thermokinesis emplyed by the Ruby Shard to give more heat to consume. Energy was used to create energy, and then that energy was consumed. The cycle continued, a slow but steady replenishment.

Within the distortion heat was not only being consumed, but small rubies were being generated, a cloud of mist, ruby dust. The rubies seemed to be suspended somehow within the distortion, the wind passing them by harmlessly. They were not as yet large enough to have any purpose, but eventually they would be. As he advanced on with the visual projection before him the ambient light throughout the cloud and reflections seemed to increase.

His opponent was doing some funky shiitttt. 'Sides with the bullets stopping, there was now nearly nothing to hinder his energy ball's growth. He had to raise his arms to an angle versus the ground as his ball grew. To keep the ball from hitting the ground and basically undoing the work he was trying to do. The energy ball's diameter was now 20 feet and still growing. Yet, it still hasn't been fired yet.

Within the distortion Mindblaze stopped, his facimilie continuing on towards Edgar. The rubies began to group together, forming up into perfect spheres every few feet through the distortion. Mindblaze waited as the drawing in of heat continued, a swarm of light forming at the forefront of the advancing distortion. A swarm of lances darted out from the forefront, thin streams of light still connected to the distortion. They all seemed to center around Edgar, a wide spread aimed to disallow dodging to either side without a significant push. While it was clear many would likely strike the orb of energy, perhaps that was the point. Upon contact an exponential drain of energy would begin, drawing into the cloud for processing and storage in the rubies. If Edgar was connected to the orb of energy the connection would try and transmit the drain to him directly through said orb.

Edgar saw the streams of light forming into lances and were about to fire. He figured that his opponent had something in mind with those lances and his ball. Afterall, why would you still use projectile type attacks if they were just gonna be blocked by a ball of energy? He raised his ball to being above him and made a quick calculation the width of the lances as well as their trajectories. Upon the firing, he would make a large step forward but a little diagonally. His body would be perpendicular versus his opponent's showy display.

With his opponent being so far away, it would look like the lances would hit. Except when the lances reached their destination, they didn't hit anything. This was being due to Edgar stepping inbetween their firing paths. With the lances being so thin, he wouldn't have gotten hit for going inbetween their paths. Now he was free again to charge his ball again. Which now was reached 30 feet in diameter and still growing.

However, that was not the main issue at hand now. With the lances missing and now on the ground, they were now touching each other at the end points. And according to the purpose of these lances, they would have to start draining from each other. In a sense, Mindblaze was both draining himself and feeding the energy to himself. This kind of paradox could screw him from the very inside out.

The dodge was not a difficult thing, but with the majority of the Lances now having struck around and behind Edgar, Mindblaze had two options. Release the streams and the strain upon him, or join them and reduce the strain. The air around Edgar would flare with heat and light as the lances began to shift and change. While it was true that the drain would affect the lances themselves, this was utilized to further the joining into two larger tendrils of light and energy. From here, well, they were basically right on top of the poor man, one whipping around to jam into the sphere while the other was aimed to connect to Edgar, or at least his aura. As before, even a glancing strike would initiate the connection.

The distortion only continued its growth, now passing well beyond the halfway mark and still growing steadily. At the far end where Mindblaze had began it seemed to try to rise up higher, but was having trouble going any higher. Within the distortion Mindblaze began heading east while the Ruby Shard continued its cycle of thermokinesis and heat consumption.

This dodge wasn't a difficult thing either. The ball and his body would flip into the air in a diagonal motion, body spinning. The ball being moved outta the way of the lance aimed for it while the lance that aimed for Edgar's body passed by harmlessly underneath. The lances fell to the ground with Edgar coming out of his flip very careful. Taking care not to touch the lances as he landed his feet. He carefully and quickly stepped over them and started running away from mindblaze and his items galore. The ball's growth was stalled a bit during the narrow dodge and stepping. However, it resumed its growth when he started running away.

((Please keep in mind that I am a bit iffy as to how I described the flip good enough. Let me know if you need further clarification.))

Dodging was all well and good, but when the damned things didn't lay down and die, there was something definately wrong. The tendrils whipped about, swinging about as Edgar landed for a second strike at of the two targets. Should they miss they would simply retract back to the cloud, but would not disappear. They would remain at the forefront of the cloud as it contonued to expand and press on, everything within still happening as before. Mindblaze continued to the East.

The lances at Edgar and his enlarging ball had missed again. This due was to some change in direction of his running. Originally, he ran forward, but figured that the lance thingers were gonna come again since they didn't exactly dissipate during the first several attacks like other metaphysical attacks of that nature would. Now, he went diagonally versus the lances original destination points. Edgar's ball was now at 50 feet diameter and nearly ready. With the ball being this huge, some of the stands would start to become within the ball's diameter. However, the ball didn't shrink and Tacitus would see nothing remaining of the stands that becamed enveloped within the ball's diameter. It was as likened to the aftermath of a small explosion in the stands, only there wasn't an explosion. It would give Tacitus an idea as to the some of the power behind the huge ball should it be allowed to be released.
