Each post you make earns you gold and adds to your post count. You can also take polls which earn you 10 gold per poll. Once you have 1000 posts, you get unlimited polling ability which helps alot.

Until you reach 1000 posts, you can only do so many polls per day. You start out with I think 10 or so polls per day and that will increase with your post count until you start getting close to 1000 and you will get unlimited.
