After playing though Disgaea and La Pucelle I decided to go backwards a bit and play through Rhapsody (Puppet Princess), which is fun if you like shoujo anime. I recently purchased both Little Princess(Puppet Princess 2) and Angel's Present (Tenshi no Present). Sadly the latter 2 games were only released in Japan. Has anyone else played these games? They are very fun turnbased traditional RPGs and are all in the same universe as La Pucelle.

I actually played Rhapsody first just because it looked so cute. I wish I'd bought it when it first came out, I was looking at it but didn't, because it didn't take too long to get scarce and I had to do a lot of watching on ebay to get a copy at a decent price! I didn't know at first it was related to Disgaea, but the character style similarities are undeniable 3nodding I felt you definately had a lot more options and stuff with the later games, Rhapsody seemed really short and pretty easy, but it was still fun.
I havn't heard of Little Princess of Angel's Present, do you have any pics from those? I wish I could play Japanese games too, but I don't really have a way of doing it and especially with RPGs you should really know the language to be able to figure out what you're doing, which I don't sweatdrop

I wanted to play Rhapsody years ago but didn't have any money and my friend told me not to get it, but as a shoujo anime fan I always wanted it. Before leaving to Japan, one of my dearest friends gave it to me me as a present and I managed to play it. He also gave me this site http://www.ayashii.com/angelpresent
which lists the other Marl Kingdom games. Marjoly is originally from Rhapsody I think thats cool.
Little Princess (Rhapsody 2) stars Cornets daughter who she name Kururu. She is also trying to find love and go on an adventure like her mother did. You meet most of the same puppets but actually get controllable human party members and Kururu can learn many new attacks.
In Angels Present you play many stories starting with a Cornet and Puppet Kururu side story where Etoile Rosenqueen Joins your party. you can literally have up to 12 chars on the field with the new system that involves 4 leader characters with 3 partners behind them. As a result dozens of combination attacks are possible. This game is traditional turn based so no moving across the field as in Rhapsody. Its pretty easy to understand if you know some Katakana and Hiragana but the Kanji kills me. I have studied Japanese for 3 years but I need more Kanji practice but what better place to get practice than here in Japan.
Since La Pucelle (which came out before Disgaea in Japan) was successful people should petition Nipon Ichi or whomever for Angel's Present.
Any questions on the 2 games?

I've only played Rhapsody. I really wish I had the other Marl games, as I love the characters, the story, the singing.. I DO have Marl Jong, but I have yet to play it.

Some people are asking for the two games (Little Princess and Angel's Present) to be released here over the Nippon Ichi boards. Go and let your voice be heard! Rawr.

I have no particular questions for the games, at least not yet. ^^

I played Rhapsody when it first arrived here in the states...I have a little site called Otakuworld and someone known as Giniko-chan to thank for that. At the time, she let people know when games were coming out that might be otherwise missed, that could be of interest or that we'd otherwise never hear about.

I wish I could play the others...although I count myself quite fortunate to be able to have any other Nippon Ichi games, considering how well Rhapsody did over here in sales at the time.

I want Marl Jong so badly but 7000 yen... I don't know its a big box too I am sure it has soundtracks and other goodies. Little Princess is pretty easy to find in Japan and is about 1000 yen (10 bucks) while Angels present is harder to find and its no cheaper than 4000 yen.
Um, can you tell me where the Nippon Ichi boards are? or give me a link. The search feature is not working and there are way tooo many forums to look through thanks.

You're right. I keep seeing Little Princess for cheap (online), but I haven't picked it up yet. Mmmh... maybe as a birthday pressie.

The Nippon Ichi boards are right here:

I should get those links for the link thread up soon. Grrr. >.<
