I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I wasn't sure where to put it.
I know there are hundreds of petitions...but I've heard that peta is killing animals. I heard that they believe animals should be "put out of their misery" and I've heard that they have gone into yards on many counts to kill animals. I also heard that any stray animals, or animals given to them, are euthanized within 24 hours. I also heard that they put up a series of posters such as the one that says, "Your mommy kills baby animals!" to places where children visit. I heard all this from a multitude of websites...and if need be, I'll post them...

I've looked into peta.. I can see killing an animal to put them out of their misery if it is necessary. But I also know that they can be rash and do a lot of more extreme things. They have good points and bad points.. I have never heard of them going and telling kids 'your mommy kills baby animals' And remember it's an organization made up of a bunch of people... not just one person... so if a few people do or say something who belong to peta.. we shouldn't hold the whole organization too responsible for it.. but they should still keep their people in check. Also look at some of the positive things that they have done for us ^.^

PETA is notorious for being way too extreme, and they have been since the 80s.
Fur coats became popular back then, and PETA members used to throw red paint (symbolizing blood) on people they saw wearing furs. Personally, I think that makes PETA look bad, ruining expensive coats on people who were just walking. Besides, wouldn't that just encourage people to go buy a new coat?
Anyway, PETA is still far too crazy. From what I've heard, they've planted bombs in meat-serving buildings, called in bomb threats to other ones, and have been responsible for euthanizing tons of animals themselves.
If PETA had control of the world, there would be no pets, no farm animals, no zoos, or any other form of domesticated or human-raised animal anywhere. All those species would be allowed to die out, unless they could roam free and wild and manage to survive.

I was not aware of the bomb threats or the paint incident, but PETA's somewhat crazy. My friend got a call once from some lady representing PETA that threatened to kill her dog since it was "A mutt made by humans, a biproduct of domestic abuse." For organization trying to "save" animals, I find them scary to a degree and hypocritical.
