Attitude from the 1960's: God created woman to honour and obey their husbands and of course, to bear the weight of original sin.
Hmm

Unless I am very much mistaken, that attitude isn't just from the sixties, and indeed was felt a lot less then than it was in, say, the 1860's.

Hasn't that sort of been the idea ever since Catholicism moved in in the 300s?

Even as a Christian, I think that's complete bull. Why would women have to bear the weight of original sin when men have original sin as well?

SoundDoctrine Even as a Christian, I think that's complete bull. Why would women have to bear the weight of original sin when men have original sin as well? because it was eve who ate the forbidden fruit. so basically the bible says that if eve hadn't eaten the fruit, we would be sin-free and be living in a paradise.

Still, it shouldn't only be women, because Adam ate after her, if Adam hadn't, then men would be sinless, leaving only women as the ones who sucumb to temptation. Women sucumbed to the Serpent, and men succumbed to women, thus, we both equally bear original sin. **edit** Just to make it a little more clear, time of sin doesn't matter since both sinned.

Maybe, Adam just respected and trusted and loved his wife and had to weigh up being constantly nagged by his wife or God's; wrath which would've been easier to resolve over a beer?

unfortunately stupid people believe that due to the fact that they take the bible as a literal inerpretation, instead of a compiliation of ideals and morals in story form. Yes i am an aethist, but i still think that the bible is not entirely without correct and incorrect ideals.
