OK so... I really want to have this discussion with other Saiyuki fans, if there are any of those in this guild. I don't want to go "ooh Sanzo is my fav he's so hawt OMG" No! I've had enough of those discussions. I want to talk about Kazuya Minekura's art style, her character development and how she creates the anti-hero so well that she makes the "bad guys" actually kind of look like the good guys. So really I want to talk about Kazuya Minekura more than the actual anime/manga Saiyuki. So someone please talk to me about this!

It's a good anime, the characters are really dark and extremely complex. It's become one of my fav anime's ever. =^_^= go hurry watch!

Go ahead and post your theory, its actually quite interesting and it might be insightful to others.

It gets really violent and pretty good later on... its sort of fanservice for girls at some point but when they start talking about their pasts and stuff its interesting

Alright then.

I developed a theory some time back as to why Sanzokitsune's favorite character is Genjyo Sanzo. It has to do with religion and how they relate to it.

Kit is a "bad Catholic". She questions everything, follows selectively, and can spot things that are wrong. To those within her religion, she appears to be a sort of lost sheep. (I once convinced her to eat a hot dog on a Friday during Lent. razz )

Sanzo, similarly, is a very worldly monk. He curses, kills, smokes, drinks, etc. At the same time, he criticizes the way things are done by high-ranking monks but more-or-less follows what he is told by those who actually are higher than him.

My thought was that from a religious standpoint (without going into too much detail here concerning Sanzo and Kit), Kit sees a reflection of herself within the character of Genjyo Sanzo.

The fact that he is pretty doesn't hurt either. wink

I have also found connections between myself and most other characters, but those I could go into at another time.

Ah Argy you have hit on one of my favorite little conundrums of this anime, technically we should be rooting for Sanzo and the boys but there are times where we can't help but root for Kougaiji. I, for one, would love for him to be able to bring his mother back because he deserves it. However, for that to happen our boys would have to lose.

I see your point but at the same time, its not like they are aware of how to use it. They would need Nii or some of the other guys to help them revive Kougaiji's mother. They wouldn't do it unless Gyoukumen Koushu told them to. I think its one of those things that to bring his mother back he'd HAVE to bring his father back. Though I have to agree with you, if the two groups actually sat and talked they might get more done.

I think it came out wrong, I think the need to fight would go down. While they don't necessarily have similiar goals they don't have conflicting ones either. I think they could figure out a way to get the things they both want more or less. The trip would be easier... I'm babbling now ><
