Um...yeah, I got randomly bored on day and ended up making this topic. I don't know how many people in this guild are drummers, but then again, I'm also relatively new. I've discovered that playing snare in marching band (which is what I happily do) is a lot harder than it seems, for me anyway. I started drumming with I was 4, which by all rights should've make it easier right? Nope? I started in colonial fife and drum, and then I played the trumpet all the way through middle school. I've been in the fife and drum scene for a long time, so I'm used to reading Swiss music. Yeah...so marching band music is in no way, shape, or form the same. Why can't there be more rudimental drummers out there?!

why don't you change the subject to say "Drummers Section" or percussion section- that way it won't be so long and it'll fit in with all the other sectional threads. 3nodding

^_^ **waves** Greetings, fellow drummer! Though perhaps I should be called a xylophone addict. ^_^ That's my thing really.

My boyfriend began his drumming career at the same age, though he's a set drummer mostly.

Marching band music is evil and wrong (^^ kidding, but it's definitely hard). And there aren't many rudimental drummers out there because.... many "drummers" can't play rudiments! Like me! But at least I have an excuse, being a xylo addict.

I'm glad someone made a topic for percussionists! Struggle on, my friend.

Oh- do any of you drummers have any good pictures of drum/percusion/pit instruments? I'm trying to get a nice collection of guild banners and I would like also to get some percussion instruments. 3nodding

*watches Oggy as he dances through the threads* surprised

One of me friends plays the drumset in our Jazz Band, and she's really good.

...That is all. *bows and leaves*

Yay! A percussion thread!! I've been in marching band pit for two years and was in pit for winter drumline last year. Then again, I played in a percussion ensemble in elementary school...so I've played percussion on and off for eight years.

I love playing the marimba with 4 mallets! It's so much fun to have three octaves all to yourself. I actually had to play vibes in my school's jazz band because no one else could play with more than 2 mallets. We have a great batterie, because nobody ever wants to do pit for more than one year. We actually did really well at PASIC the last two years, so I can't complain.

I love 4-mallets too, though I've only been playing with 4 for a year or so and I'm not very good yet. But all three octaves to yourself.... That is Heaven, isn't it? ^_^

I did vibes in jazz too, but I'm quitting. All I ever got to play was sax music I had to transpose, and my director couldn't even bother to give me all my music last year.... >.>

I play Marimba... but I'm just learning four mallets in myt spare time right now sweatdrop I'm only a halfie (I also play flute) but I love my marimba... The three octaves is very, very nice 3nodding xd

My music this year is nuts... The guy who wrote it never played it eek It was written on a computer and now we have to break all the rules i was taught crying (ex. we have to start with the left hand at some parts and we have to double stick sweatdrop )

*wanders off to hug her mimba* ((don't ask xp ))
