Well, in this topic, discuss some romantic cliches that you love, or hate! What cliches are acceptable and others...aren't?

Personally, I love the hate to love cliche, I don't care how many times I see it, it never gets old.

I'm also a big fan of "forbidden love". Not so much of Romeo and Juliet style, but I love class crossing romances like (you guessed it) Titanic, Ever After, The Other Boleyn Girl, etc.

One I absolutely cannot STAND is when the two people in love find out they're related to each other. Star Wars already did it and I think it got old fast after that.

I lvoe when the "they're in love but neither one wants to admit it first." That of course includes the guy not realizing he's in love, just thinking it's lust and when he does realize he thinks its some big huge revelation. It almost always makes for a humourous time. xd

And the whole tortured-love-doomed-from-the-start kind of love that ends up working in the end anyway. Pretty much like every single one of Karen Marie Moning's books. 4laugh

But the whole, "might be related thing" only works in my opinion, in Marmalade Boy! (and if you've read the entire series then you understand)

If they had talked to their parents sooner they could've gone without the drama! dramallama

I like love-to-hate (Pride and Prejudice), random passion (Moonstruck), non-realization (Emma) and friends-to-lovers...

I really don't like the whole "let's take time off" or "taking it slowly" It can work, but it gets tedious.

I love the whole we met through a mutual friend and went on dating other people didn't work then wind up meeting again and falling in love XD, Also one for the forbidden romance fullmoon wo sagashite, Hate-to-love, not understanding kinda urls me but it all depends on the book and the author.
And as for possible relation*shivers* RedNecks(and no I'm not talking about Marmalade boy which they have the weirdest family possible, yet it turns out so well ^ ^!)

You know, I never get tired of love triangles, no matter how many I've read about or watched.

But I absolutely can't stand love at first sight. URGH, it bugs me.

Cinderella-like stories never tires me. Love triangles also always gets me, I don't care how many times its been done, it still breaks my heart. 3nodding

I despise he-cheats-she-cheats-self-realization-stories unless they're by Jennifer Crusie. I really despise them, Crusie ups the romance, the comedy, and the risk factor. But I'm with Kawaii-mistress with Cinderella stories- I adore them!

Who can ever resist a good ol' love-hate relationship XD

Otherwise, I love seeing a witty girl beating a sarcastic guy down, like a fiction story I read a while ago. 3nodding

I will never, ever get tired of the romantic male type "tall, dark, and handsome" ... its so cliché, and really... when ARE you going to find the amazingly gorgeous intellectual in the library type ready to sweep you off your feet?!

Oh well, I shall keep looking! You'd better believe it.

Another favorite of mine isn't the "love at first sight" but the "unconventional love" cliché. Like the Mr. Darcy, or the Noah from The Notebook, you'd never think two more different people could make it work, but they do.

Oh, the so very lovely clichés. I’m a big fan of the “forbidden love” scenarios, where they’re really and truly in love, but can’t be together because of a loyalty to someone else, a disapproval by someone whose opinion has a standing, or some other such matter.

I used to like the “hate-love” situations, but it became very overrated to me after seeing about a billion highschool fics: popular, Kikyou-dating Inuyasha and nerdy Kagome can’t stand each other! But what happens when they start to fall in love with each other?s. Even though I usual don’t dare go near those horrid things, they still bug me when seeing them that I basically gave up on “hate-love” altogether for awhile..

I don’t care for “love at first sight”, either. It’s too unrealistic to me, and it’s in one and out the other after that because it’s just flying by. I can’t stand it! I want detail and foundation, not this...

gonk

I realize there aren’t too many love clichés that I like, though I am warming up to “hate-love” again.

I just love saying, “I hate loving to love you!” It’s hilarious and so very cute.

I hate the 'they see each other across a crowd, eyes meet, and fall in love' type of cliche. Basically just see each other, and WHAMO! fall in love. NO! it doesn't work that way.

I like the whole "best friends then fall in love" type of cliche, or at least "friends that love each other, but can't/won't admit it." I personally think it does take friendship to get to love, so... this is the cutest, I think.
