I'd say the egg anyways. Dinosaurs layed eggs before the chicken and the question does not spesify that the egg is a chicken egg....

the chicken came first cause an atom that was somehow magically created split and began to create the universe and continued to split.

i think i said it different in my head compared to what i actually wrote. okay this makes more sence. an egg is just the chickens way of duplicating itself. ya that makes much more sence. thank you to whoever said that. ^'^

First, I'm going to say we're talking about a chicken egg when we say the egg.
Second, that leaves the question of whether a "chicken egg" means an egg a chicken laid or an egg that is theoretically capable of developing into a chicken.
If we take the first explanation, the chicken did because the change from ancestor-of-chicken to chicken would happen somewhere between the parent and the child - therefore there would be a parent that wasn't quite a chicken yet, that laid an egg, and that egg became a chicken, and only when that chicken laid an egg would there be a chicken egg.
If we take the second explanation, the egg came first, using the same reasoning.
Basically, I don't know. I guess it's a matter of opinion.
