I've made a little progress with my massive summer painting. I didn't realise just how tired I was going to be all the time working these stupid shift patterns so it's lagging, but I'm still enjoying it and having fun with it.

Now I'm off to go to the art gallery. They've got a display of ten drawings by Leonardo Da Vinci. I've already been this week but what can I say, Leo is my homeboy.

Teeth and bridle are not finished, sorry, should have pointed that out.

The bridle will be cracked leather with a large brass nobble thingy where the three point meet.

Hopefully the teeth will be white but the edges are going to be showing the underlying wood.

I'm finding it challenging to paint something which looks like a plausable object in a 3d environment but which is also itself painted. The shadows created by the light source in the painted room wouldn't line up with the shadows painted on the horse for example.
It would be easier with a real rocking horse for reference I suppose, rather than just a few pictures and my imagination, but there you go. smile
