So there was a contest to design the cover of my school's yearbook, the prize being $25 and a free yearbook...
Being that as the dealine came near, and I discovered that none of the other entries (which could be viewed by everyone, if they knew how) were original artwork, all taken from somewhere, I decided to enter.
Now, because I'm the lone member of the yearbook staff (though one does not have to be a member of yearbook to enter), I have a heads-up on what the teacher who puts the yearbook together thinks of the other entries. I showed him my incomplete draft (basically drawn and partially coloured, to show my *skill* in colouring with Photoshop). I not only got an extension on the deadline, but after he was reviewing another girl's entry (she had left), he told me that while he liked hers, *basically* mine was waaay better...I almost feel like I've cheated by knowing my odds, getting the deadline extended, and pretty much asking if mine was better (but not so bluntly...).
Is that cheating?
Edit: He didn't actually say mine was way better, he implied it.

I dont' think it is cheating. Maybe you actually have the best design! And if you do, then an extension is fine.

Well, putting it as a contest. Yes, I would consider it "unfair" to the others.
But the main factor is to make the yearbook look nice and the best it can be, right? Thinking in that sense, no it's not cheating.

Xeroxer Well, putting it as a contest. Yes, I would consider it "unfair" to the others. But the main factor is to make the yearbook look nice and the best it can be, right? Thinking in that sense, no it's not cheating. I agree with that. 3nodding

Heh. I would get mad at you and point out what had happened to the principal and the general school public. But--
If I were you I would do it twisted

News on the contest...I'm ahead by four votes, but I'm not allowed to know whose is so close behind mine...I feel rejected by my connections.

If he had given you an extention out of nowhere I would consider it cheating. But you showed him a draft, thusly proving your interest, and in that case I feel the extension is plausible.
Besides, if it really WAS the best design, of course he's want to give you an extension so they have a chance of using yours 4laugh
I mean, you're assuming it's cheating that you're getting such special privledges because you're a part of the yearbook committee, but maybe it's just because he liked your art.

I don't feel guilty, but I don't want people to think that I won just because I'm the only member of the yearbook club...
By the way, one of the other contestants congratulated me for winning the contest. See, what happened was when the voting was done, he asked the teacher who was in charge of monitering the votes and convinced him to say who won because it's not like the voting was still going on...and I asked the same teacher yesterday if this was true, and he confirmed, so Yay me...I shall post my entry within my next post.

The one on the yearbook will have a blue-grey background... and it's things like that drawing there that make me absolutely sick of doing artwork...
