Branwan was born in a hospital, as is the norm for children these days. It was three AM and the moon was full, there was nothing unusual about this, after all, the moon is full once every month. She was born on the small, her body in the 5th percentile and her head in the 98th, for those of you that don’t know, that means five percent of babies had a body smaller then hers and ninety-eight percent had a head smaller. Her father said she looked a little like a alien.
There is not much to say about the first two or so years of her life. She was a little smaller and smarter then most children her age, but not a child prodigy or anything. She was reluctant to say the least in the potty training department, but by the age of about four she had it down.
From the ages of three to four she went to Rainbow Preschool. Branwan has fond memories of Rainbow; the smell of drying clothes always gives her a warm feeling because it was the smell of the blanket she used there. But contrary to this, one of her most vivid memories of Rainbow is a bad one. She had gotten sick and puked up her lunch, which consisted of a bologna and cheese sandwich, on to the reading area floor. It looked amazingly fake, shiny and rubbery, but it most definitely was not. Just at that moment, or maybe a few moments after her father came in saying, “Where’s my bubbly little girl now?” She still can’ here someone being described a ‘bubbly’ with out her stomach churning slightly.
At the age of Five Branwan started Kindergarten in Lawrence Elementary. Her teacher was Ann Marten, an old lady who retired at the end on the year. She also started doing gymnastics, a sport she loved.
Also at the age of five Her parents got divorced, now that’s a traumatic experience if I’ve ever seen one.
First and second grade went by with out much event. Her Teacher was the same for both years, not a usual occurrence. Her teacher had just moved from first to second grade at the same time as she. From the start her teacher noted that Branwan was very smart and readily discussed topics with the class but could not get a grip on reading or writing.
She was sent to ‘Learning Center’ or ‘LC’ as it was called.
Third grade was not a good year, not at all. Her teacher was sick most of the year and the substitute was viciously mean to her and treated her like a Preschooler. One such indignity she suffered was the ‘Happy Chart!’ a row of five large faces, their expressions going from happy to sad. Under the faces was a list of everyone in the class; whenever you were bad your name got moved down a face. Needless to say, Branwan’s name was on the sad face the most. Another indignity, the worst by far was the time where her teacher would not let her use the bathroom until she finished all her work. Here, perhaps, she developed her dislike for authority.
The one good thing about that year was that she won her first gymnastics tournament.
Nothing stood out about her forth grade except that Ms. Bankler, her teacher, retired at the end of the year. Also, in this year, finally was able to read as well as the rest of the class.
Also during this year, Branwan’s Father got married to a woman named Kelly.
Fifth grade was much the same interest wise; the only thing of note was that was the year for her Education on the Sexual Anatomy of Males and Females, or, in other words, Sex Ed. I guess there was one other thing of note, her school was being reinvaded during fifth grade so everyone was moved to the ‘Lawrence @ Lincoln’ the place where all Brookline schools went when their buildings where being renovated.
During the summer of this year Branwan started going to Wildwood, an over-night camp run by the Mass Audubon Society. Wildwood is, by far, Branwan’s favorite camp ever.
Sixth grade was a happy year for Branwan She had one of her favorite teachers of all time, Mr. Conry. It was also her first year with report cards, she got all A’s and B’s. It should also be noted that at this time Branwan’s reading was above her grade level and her writing was average. Not only that but she had a tenth grade vocabulary.
Branwan’s real mother, Alexis got remarried to a man named Jeff in this year. Also during this year Kelly gave birth to Branwan’s brother, Max.
In Seventh grade Branwan’s school moved back to it’s old, now renovated, building. During this year she met another one of her all time favorite teachers, Ms. Loonin, a science teacher who could fallow seemingly random conversation threads and yet teach everything she set out to teach, sadly, she retired at the end of the year. Branwan was reading at an adult level at this point.
Branwan started to have conflicts and fights with her step-mom during this year.
Eighth grade was not a fun year. Her new science teacher was singularly bad at teaching science; this depressed Branwan to no end because science was her favorite subject. Even with this Branwan could still have had a good year if not for Kelly. Her constant arguments with Kelly made it hard for her to concentrate in school and do her homework, it also made her less attentive during Gymnastics. Because of this her grades started to slip and her dad made her temporarily stop doing Gymnastics. Finally, the stress got too much and she actually broke down during school. Because of this she was sent to Borenwood, an outpatient hospital for teens with emotional problems and/or substance abuse. Even with all these set backs she still graduated with the rest of her class. Not only that but both her reading and writing skills where at an adult level.
Personality:Branwan is shy when she is in large groups, overwhelmed by the magnitude of different people she prefers to stand on the sidelines and let people come to her. But in small groups or one on one she is talkative and takes charge of situations, sometimes to the point of bossiness, this also goes for groups of people she already knows.
She is nosy but does not gossip, preferring to listen to others talk. Her nosiness is only visible when she butts into others conversation to correct something they said or answer a question that was posed to the world.
Branwan corrects people often because she is very detail oriented and the most trivial incorrectness is glaringly obvious.
She is very logical and thinks about scientifically which clashes spectacularly with he belief in magic and love of fantasy.
Pets: Dogs: Charlie, Maggie. Cat: Mollie. Guinea Pigs, Ziggy, Brownie, Oreo.
